    Love this idea, I used your basic idea then made the holding tube 1ft long, and made the 2" barrel 4ft long to make it into a mortar. (No bigger outer pipe) I also replaced the plastic adapter 2" to 1/2 inch, to a pvc coupler with 2" thread on one side, then a steel adapter from 2" to 3/4, 3/4 to 1/2 adapter for durability.. this thing shoots about 400+ ft with the Nerf whistling vortex footballs.. So thank you for idea..👍🏻

    • @nadavm3996
      @nadavm3996 2 роки тому

      The only problem with this is most solenoid valves can’t handle the pressure differential that a co2 cartridge supplies (~800-900psi discharge). I tried this idea myself and couldn’t get the valve to open under pressure.

    Nice work Reach that's pretty cool. This reminds me of the potato cannons we made long long ago in a state far far away even before PVC was created. It was so long ago we taped tin cans together for the tube then punched a tiny hole in one side about 2" in from the bottom can for lighter fluid to be squirted in and a match to set it off and was it ever loud not to mention dangerous too but it was fun.

    Hey I made my self this today. I had a Wolverine bolt co2 adapter laying around which I used and the rest was 40$ at aces. I also used my vx-1 breakable caps by matrix for their vx1 40mm grenades filled it with powder and attached it to a thunder b trip wire shell and it made a prefect rocket that explodes with chalk on impact and is reusable!! You can also add folding fins to the rocket that fold one way and are held by tape which add spin to your rocket which adds range. This thing is epic!
    Edit you can also re position the handle to be more like a squeeze function on the real LAW

    I wonder if I could put a compressed air adapter (with hose) instead of a CO2 adapter use a second ball valve to control the flow rate into the compression chamber. 🤔🤔🤔 Long term would save more money than the $1 a shot CO2 especially since my field refills Airtanks for free. Even if I had to quick detach the air tank between shots it wouldn't be a problem, might increase immersion for longer reloads

    • @CallsignReach
      @CallsignReach  4 роки тому

      That’s a better method! I’ve been trying to figure out an HPA solution. The CO2 isn’t the best system even though it’s probably the most readily available.

      @@CallsignReach what would you need for a HPA version instead of the CO2 adapter

    • @CallsignReach
      @CallsignReach  3 роки тому

      HPA fill nipple with a 1/2” male thread connector. They make them; the one I have is made by Tippmann. Either that or find a way to connect the tank directly to your assembly. Be advised, working with HPA is dangerous; you need to make sure that the pressure of your air rig does not exceed the pressure rating on your pipes or you’re going to have a really bad time. I’ve also had a lot of problems with the connectors not retaining their seal. I have been working on an HPA launcher and I’ve had multiple decompressions - extremely loud and potentially dangerous. I would honestly advise against making your own unless you really know what you’re doing.

    Suggestions:
    Shot-cup that seals tightly to the barrel wall.
    Wad seal to pack into the barrel after loading the ammo in the shot cup, to keep your ammo from falling out of the cup/barrel while on the move.
    Electric gas valve and battery pack to eliminate the clumsy ball valve arrangement.
    3/8" gas line nipple to replace the 12g cartridge tube. Shoot all day with a 48 oz lumbar-mounted CO2 tank.
    Increased volume captive gas chamber to increase velocity/range of shot.
    Grenade launcher sight so you have some idea of what you're shooting at.

    I'd like to see you upgrade the trigger from a ball valve to a 12vdc solenoid valve with a battery. It would open faster and you wouldn't have to get out of firing position to work the trigger, a simple push button would do fine. Or get really tricked out and use a military style switch with a red safety cover that gets flipped out of the way for the switch to work.

    Question would you be able to skip the curve on the pipe by having just a straight pipe or would that cause problems?

    • @CallsignReach
      @CallsignReach  5 років тому

      You could skip the two elbows that make the curve and connect the ball valve directly to the back of the barrel. The most important part is that you have a good air seal and have at least a five-inch pipe as a reservoir for the CO2 to stay in after you puncture it with he adapter. Other than that, I’ve seen people customize the system in a bunch of different ways. I’m pretty sure that the launcher would be crazy long if you skipped the curve though; the curve is primarily to accommodate space and make it easier to operate while holding it.

    I have a question hopefully you or someone can answer. I'm trying to take this a step further. Do you think if I add 2 CO2 adaptors for dual co2 cartridge to increase the pressure is a bad idea? I'm trying to make it better so I can point straight shoot and hit my target without having to compensate so much and risk missing.

    • @JAWZPB

      Or if you could attach a remote line from an air tank.

    • @CallsignReach
      @CallsignReach  3 роки тому +1

      So I have an adapter for a 90g CO2 cartridge that I’m trying to rig up. I tried attaching a remote line and it seemed a little too dangerous for my taste (and blew my hearing out when I accidentally depressurized the pipe). I’d personally suggest sticking to CO2 and increasing to a 33g or 90g cartridge if you’re trying to do multiple shots.

      Range and accuracy also depends on your ammo type. Nerf footballs really are the best.

      @@CallsignReach so the adaptor in this video wont work with a higher gram? Will you eventually try two 90 gram adaptors hooked up to a single reservoir? I think I want to step up to 90. I need a different adaptor right? Thanks for getting back to me.

      @@CallsignReach you think you can find a better trigger system? With the ball valve you lose pressure when you're bringing back the lever to the closed position if you're using a higher gram cartridge. Can you make an electronic solenoid that opens it and make a video on it???

      I fold it end to end once so that it’s basically a big triangle, roll down the top of it, wrap it around my neck with the triangle hangin down in the front, then ties the ends under the triangle part. As I’m writing this I realize that it probably makes no sense. I could do a video?
