The part that's genius is the idea to use simple pipes to create toy, admired by thousands on the internet. Turning multiple simple things into complex design is exactly what engineering is about.
A bolt-action, breech loading version of this with a fixed barrel would be even cooler!

Hmm... I think I want to make some edits on this design, and make it a lot more fun.
1. Move the trigger to below the weapon.
2. Add a hand grip and shoulder rest so it's more like a rifle
3. Rework the loading system a bit, for easier quick loading. (I'm thinking a bolt-action system)
4. Add a rail for scope mounting.
When I get to building this edited device I'll make a video on it and post it on this channel.
The firing mechanism is amazing though! It's a great Idea!

true .50 BMG bullet is 0.510-inch (13.0 mm) ... 50mm is just shy of 2 inches......

This build was pretty easy to accomplish (The smaller model from SonicDad) especially after getting the instructions. The only thing I did differently was I used a universal grill igniter for the sparker instead of disassembling a lighter. I found that the lighter sparker would break or I would need to push it multiple times in order to get a true spark. Other than that, the build was fun and the kids love it. I also use NERF bullets instead of the marshmallows, they fit perfectly in the 1/2" barrel.

Gatling style with multiple barrels set up. I would like to see you try to stuff small chain (like the chain for holding overhead florescent lights) as ammo like a scaled down version of cannons being stuffed with chain, glass, nails as a way to demonstrate the power and devastating effect of cannon warfare. I share these videos with my STEM classes.
