      As well as a few high dollar claims from Robot 🤖 Truck Pirates. 🧐. Blocking in an autonomous truck with multiple vehicles causing it to slow and stop then raiding the trailer….

      @@htruth1785 Of course people crash. That’s not the point. The point is liability. When a human driver wrecks a truck there’s someone there to take responsibility for the accident. Under normal circumstances when a truck driver is involved in an accident, trucking companies almost never take the blame unless they’re getting sued. But even then it’s always the driver that’s ultimately to blame.
      If a truck driver kills a motorist or pedestrian and is found to be at fault, it’s the driver that goes to prison. The company itself remains unaffected except for the inconvenience of having to make an insurance claim to have their equipment repaired.
      Now what happens when a *driverless* truck kills someone? Who takes responsibility? Who gets charged with manslaughter then? Who goes to prison for negligent homicide? …the trucking company? Nope. The software programmer? Nope. The developers? Guess again…

    Her earing was hitting the mic because it was too close to her face, good job getting her a handheld mic. Autonomous driving is the future and TuSimple seems to be at the forefront of it, lets see if history will agree.

    I would like to see a real world test of deer, pedestrian, wildlife crossings. I watched the vid of their truck and found some irregularities that a truck driver would never do.

    That's great you gave everyone's name out .....so now all of us CDL drivers can come over to everyone's house, 200,000 truckers to each and we can eat dinner and have a place to stay....is there a robot to replace these people?

    So let's address the big elephant in the room, shall we? There will always need to be two 'safety drivers' in the rig while it's mobile. If you choose to omit this 'safety drivers' requirement, you're now at extreme legal risk of criminal liability. To the point of homicide via gross negligence. So, 'safety drivers', if not already deemed a necessity will rapidly become one. And your business venture is over. Because you will have definitely made an impact. Pardon the pun.

    • @wanderingfido
      @wanderingfido 2 роки тому

      And if 'safety drivers' are always a requirement, what true advantage does your technology bring to the table? They will need to go to the toilet every two to six hours. And do you pay them _less_ than a conventional truck driver? I would think not. And there will always be the usual truck driver. The end of the pandemic lockdowns will boost the junior driver counts once again. CDL classes will resume. Albeit, most of them do choose alternate careers within one to two years. But there's always a replenishing crop of new truckers with delusions of grandeur to the extreme. And the dubious promise of The American Dream eventually comes to naught. But they keep on coming. The influx of fresh faces is non-stop. Have fun with that.

      There's 0 safety drivers now in TuSimple trucks. But some guards are probably needed to prevent hit and rob.

    • @wanderingfido
      @wanderingfido 2 роки тому

      @@chenpaul99 I'm saying that will change after a few fatal accidents. Which can and will occur for any number of reasons. It's just a matter of time.

      The panelists talk about human errors are the main causes of the road accidents. How safety drivers can be any help on that?
      The real fix is to have the technology improve to the level, that it drive better than human, and its collision prevention system works as it should and reduce the accident rate to a negligible level.

    • @wanderingfido
      @wanderingfido 2 роки тому +1

      @@tonyycheng I agree. But believe it or not some fatalities become unavoidable regardless of reflexology. Remember the MCAS fiasco with Boeing? Safety drivers will become mandated by a public court if not an actual court of law. Then, the financial advantage becomes void and moot. I give it two years until the first self-driven fatality.
