I own a Plumbing and Septic business in San Angelo, Texas. In my experience hiring people that have not worked any skilled trade get intimidated, because they have not been taught how to use general tools and don't have any idea what it takes to work these jobs. So they end up quitting the same day or 3 days later. In the plumbing world it takes a lot of patients to move up in the trade from apprentice to master plumber (about 8 yrs) and patients from my experience in hiring does not exist. I am getting to the point in my career and life where I would love to take the time and teach anyone of any age. I have a lot of knowledge and years in the pluming and septic trades that I would love to share.

In 1969 I started college in the school of engineering. Worked my way through and 5 years later graduated. Was able to take multiple interviews with a wide assortment of companies and selected the job most suited to my skills and ambitions. The kids who decided to major in English, history or any other degree program that does not have a pipeline into the employment sector could not even get a single interview because there were no companies who needed employees with that knowledge base. It did not break my heart because I was the one who had to study long, hard hours to attain a saleable skill while these kids were trying to figure out how to drink a 12 ounce can of beer in the least amount of time.
