My K688 video was recorded at a time when I didn’t know the USB-C cables were the issue in the K688, not the K688 preamps themselves. Arguably, the K688 usb-c mode has better preamp performance than the Q12. If you’re looking for a true, substantial upgrade, look at $200+ interfaces like the Motu M2, SSL2+, and Audient ID14.
