Egypt's farmers are accusing the government of gambling with the country's food security.
Egypt imports roughly 10 million tonnes of wheat a year. But this year, officials have cut imports of key commodities like wheat, betting that a big local harvest will make up the difference.
If farmers cannot make money growing wheat, many of them might switch to more lucrative crops in the future.

Egypt isn't the only country that subsidizes food. European countries and USA, and Canada subsidize farmers as well.

Guys, where are combines and tractors?

It is not financially viable for them to buy combines. You didnt see the Belarus tractors lining up for gas. Also there farm plots are small. So it isn't wise for them to invest in a $500,000 combine harvester.

The Egyptian government should sort out the fuel problem quickly, If the crop does not come off the fields, it will rot or get eaten by pests.

HHO conversion kits for all diesel powered engines. Use of water to split Oxygen and Hydrogen by way of electrolysis would generate enough hydrogen to combust almost any fossil fuel run engine.

What is amazing is that Israel is able to grow Oranges by the truckload and has more wheat and other crops then they can use. Perhaps if the Arab world put down their sword and picked up their plowshares Israel could share her knowledge and everyone could have enough to eat.
