I appreciate you are balanced in your critiques of your performances, but it cannot be stressed enough how large your improvement gains are from last year. This is a rock solid proof that your training changes and dedication to those changes have reaped enormous rewards. Take a minute and revel in your accomplishments.
So PROUD of you guys! Macky, you were so close to getting third, and Syd... with missing a LOT of training time due to that injury you had, you placed in the money. I definitely can see another year of the training you two have been doing that you will soar even higher next year!
You two did incredible in that race. Macky to finish the next place back of Kabush with a flat is super impressive. Syd, a top 10 in a stacked field and 20 minutes faster than last year is HUGE!!! You two have definitely stepped up your game big-time. I'm putting Nino Schurter and Puck Pieterse on notice!! 😉 Catch ya next week and you two are on a new level of awesomeness!! 👍💪👊
As someone who just completed their first ever Enduro (Salida Enduro). Wow Macky decends SO fast. Much respect to both of you. Love coming along for the ride and seeing what events are out there that maybe one day I’ll be fit and skilled enough to enter!
Hi macky, about tire plugging: I find bike plugs are usually pretty small and that holes that can be sealed with the small diameter plugs that come in bike repai kits usually seal up with just sealant. I usually carry car tire plugs in addition to normal tire plugs with higher diamater, and have used them succesfully on 3 or 4 occasions where the bike plugs did exactly nothing. They are just fatter and therefore seal bigger holes and cuts.
Great job both, you both looked more comfortable in the race than last year. Great video, showing the course overview helped the viewer understand your progress through the course.
I remember goi ng thru similar in my racing career, though I was an amateur my whole racing career. Started too old in life to race bicycles, but my 11 years of racing motorcycles helped me a LOT!!
Oh man Macky, such bad luck. Really sorry that happened. You both did great and this video was really well done - again. I would have liked to see the passes because I couldn't see how you were going to get around people on that kind of terrain. I know Macky's cam was flaky but it seemed like Syd skipped the passing too. I've got poor hearing to begin with so I'm probably not in the best position to give this feedback but the music in the beginning section made it really hard for me to hear the dialog - FWIW. I really, really enjoy watching your vids. Thanks for making them
Congrats on the new sponsor! In the future could you give us a tour of their manufacturing facility? I love watching how companies build their carbon frames, GMBN did some of those type of videos awhile back and got some impressive view counts on the ol' YouTubs.
Those aspen tires really held their ground over that terrain... with the exception of Sids Flat.. over all solid race and outcome for both of you......🎉.
Sage - pop it with bright orange. Blacked out (tinted) catseye vinyl on the rims is a fave as well - only pops out at night (when you need it) and it really catches the eye as it's dynamic/moving. .you catch the odd glint when the sun is behind the observer's head, but otherwise just looks dark-grey/black during the day.
A great improvement over last year for both of you, how exciting!! CONGRATS on improving and becoming even more competitive!! Can you share with me what brand of bearing press that you have?
Well done both of you. Question about the time trial. Could you have swapped out your front chainring for the Crit? Seems like it would have really helped but maybe it’s not allowed?
(SYD and Macky) Why don't you train that way for (or most of) your road miles ("fat tyres" on your MTB rigs)? As a bike courier back in the day, an FS-XC rig with semi slicks aired up hard worked awesomely for me - it also trained me to spin those pedals super-smoothly (efficiently) 80km a day while coping with all the geometry changes - primarily seated. It's all I ride now. This arrangement also gives me options - I'm old(er) now and the whims of fancy/energy are rarer and the FS frame means any features that may appear on the roadside are fair game - gutter jumps, unexpected shortcut trails, etc . . and more emergency bail options from the trail (through a baby's head rock garden beside the cycleway one time)I incorporate a long hard packed single trail on my regular rides (when dry). Armoured semi-slicks pumped hard strengthen the rim - you're pretty much bullet proof . .near-zero rim impacts if you err on the harder side of tyre pressure - beware there is also too hard which means blisteringly fast loses on pavement - there's definitely a balance. Semi slicks off-road effectively limit how much out-of-the saddle climbing you can do (not enough grip for the power pulses), so you get really good at seated climbing. I also run higher fork/shock pressures as I'm 90% pavement now and that works better for efficiency/mileage - haven't tried space-pucks and lowering the pressures though. I'm time/space poor and have/want only one rig - it has to do everything well (enough). I've had a few angry receptions when I join a social road ride and out pace many of the road bikes in the group on this rig.
Personally I just don't think the Aspens are cut out for Lunch Loops - I barely nicked a a rock on the side wall out here on my second ride on a set and the sidewall gave out. They certainly feel like they roll fast but it's just a risky choice! Probably great on almost any other trail system.
I'm admiring your XTR and I'm looking at trying to afford building Deore LX...You're complaining about a 24lb full suspension race bike? Lol...the contrast!
I'd go with Syds green color bike with mackys orange lettering and that would probably look dope. Also Macky, the percentage on weather is not the likelihood of rain, it's actually how much of that region will be covered in rain at that time. Not tryn to be an annoying yt commenter, just thought that info wud help.
I must say, the pavement MTB crits make no sense to me. Sounds like pulling out on the first lap and watching the finish would be a pretty good race strategy.
Macky’s positive attitude and sportsmanship are an inspiration.
Love the route profile display, really helps tell the story.
Ya they should do this often.
loved the profile to keep track of where they were!

So fun watching the enduro skills come out in an XC race. Don't mess with this couple on the downhills.
Syd, "Mumble mumble, heavy breathing" Macky, "C'mon Macky" , I love these guys, WOOOOO!!
Grand Junction native here! So stoked to see such a beautiful part of the world showcased in this video.
I think the new bike frames look awesome 😊
I appreciate that everytime you guys mention a distance in miles/feet, you "translate" it for us in the rest of the world 😅
Agreed! It is incredibly helpful! I can do feet as i grew up around aviators, but miles does not translate in my head at all.
So PROUD of you guys!

Awesome riding! Because of you guys I signed up for my first race! Super excited and nervous!
Awesome! Good luck and have fun!!
It was awesome to meet you guys on Friday night! I was the guy in the sling crossing the street. I look forward to seeing you next year!
Heal up quick!
As someone who just completed their first ever Enduro (Salida Enduro). Wow Macky decends SO fast. Much respect to both of you. Love coming along for the ride and seeing what events are out there that maybe one day I’ll be fit and skilled enough to enter!
the bikes are sounding really good!!! solid smooth. juiced. love 'em
I'm so happy to watch these videos every week. You both are incredible and the videos are so exciting to watch!

I like how you add the incline at the bottom so the viewer can appreciate what grade is happening because the camera never does it justice
Mackeys bike!! That Orange Fox is just pro looking!!
Mackey, outstanding work. The flat would have wreaked me. Your positivity is def inspirational.
Thank you both.
Great job both, you both looked more comfortable in the race than last year. Great video, showing the course overview helped the viewer understand your progress through the course.
Well, looks like I made the edit! It was fun to get passed by both of you. Great job!
You too!
my legs hurt just from watching this, you guys are amazing, you put in the hard work, it pays off and shows, well done!! 😊😊
Love this video, such a fun race to watch!
Awesome job to the both of you!!
Congrats team! These are really exciting to watch!
20 minutes!? That's insane. Well done Syd!
Upon your recommendation I bought a Fanttik and really like it.
Great video and it was great to meet you two at the end of the race!
Same. Nice job out there!
This race is on my locals. Great seeing them through other eyes! Great video, as usual, and great performances! See you on the trails!
Fanttik X9 Ace is a great tool (thanks for recommending) made even better adding a Prestacycle EZ Grip Big Presta Head.
I remember goi ng thru similar in my racing career, though I was an amateur my whole racing career. Started too old in life to race bicycles, but my 11 years of racing motorcycles helped me a LOT!!

I'm digging the sage gray color!
Man, you guys make it look so easy! Syd I love the Sage Green!!
Wish you I woulda known you in town! I totally crazy double leg cramped in the same section this year!
Congrats on the new sponsor! In the future could you give us a tour of their manufacturing facility? I love watching how companies build their carbon frames, GMBN did some of those type of videos awhile back and got some impressive view counts on the ol' YouTubs.
You guys killed it!
That flat 20min from finish must’ve sucked. Thanks for setting a good example for how to react. You two did awesome!
Those aspen tires really held their ground over that terrain... with the exception of Sids Flat.. over all solid race and outcome for both of you......🎉.
Syd didn't flat.
Exciting race! Those climbs looked intense!
Sage - pop it with bright orange.

You guys rock!
My hardtail weights 5lbs.. that's great 🤣🤣🤙
Nice work!
Lol the updated rules, "keep your shit together, and recover, and go fast" - words to live by
Watching from New Zealand, love you two!
Good work guys,
50 shades of sage - I laughed (and concurred)
Squid and Mack Attack! Wish I met you guys when I lived in ABQ and worked in Santa Fe but recently moved back east.
You guys are badass great job so proud of you both
Love the sage colors
I’m leaning towards Macky’s ARI color scheme as my fav. Go big and go bold!
Syd, my preference is with the subtlety of your bike colour - and it's nice colour.
24:30, flying!
I would be off course SO many times. Maybe its easier to see the trail in person, but then maybe not as much at race pace.
#33 is RAD! 😉
Way to go!
After a VERY disappointing UCI BMX Worlds, at least I can kick back and watch Syd & Macky ride bikes!
A great improvement over last year for both of you, how exciting!! CONGRATS on improving and becoming even more competitive!! Can you share with me what brand of bearing press that you have?
That's the Enduro Bearings press. It's 👍👍
@@sydandmacky THANK YOU!!
White and orange for the win
Well done both of you. Question about the time trial. Could you have swapped out your front chainring for the Crit? Seems like it would have really helped but maybe it’s not allowed?
Yup, could have. Not sure it would have made a difference, but maybe.

Bought the Fantik - excited to see how well this can work - can it replace CO2 for the casual racer - we shall see.
Macky, get some orange ink from berd and make your spokes orange! Too cool!!
Great race you two, wondering if you both run any tire inserts? If so, both tires or just the rear?
whoops, guess I should have kept watching... lol Nice job Macky!
Busted 😂
I couldn't find the website for Fanttik X9 air pressure gauge by using the link you provided.
Huh. Give this a try: bit.ly/x9acepump
So what tires was Ben Oliver running… just wondering? Great race Macky!!
I think I did the Sarlacc 50k the same day. That is a hard one too. You both should do it next year
We'll done 👏
Do the Transylvania Epic one of these years!
both look great, but white & orange
Fun stuff guys. Gigi wants to know what kind of glasses Syd is wearing during the Crit?
Those are Goodr. We love them.
@@sydandmacky awesome. Thank you. We will check them out. Appreciate the answer. 😄
👍👍

Boy that sucks for the flat...esp 2 years in a row...maybe next year.
Sage green for sure
Its enough you got 2 bottles now inside your frame😈
where can I get a Nobl themed hoodie?
Stage racing should include a full service bike build time trial...podium for Syd🏅
Lions....hmm.....sounds like an 'Epic'..... you're more than 'Cape'able ✌️
They are both gorgeous, but I'd pick sage... but truthfully, how you could go wrong with either color?
Banana Man was a real hero eh
White and Orange all day
That flat was too bad. Better luck next time.
diggin' macky's color way minus the orange fork, needs to be white or black. who really cares tho, just shred!
"I think I might be catching someone, which is always fun... Though I don't know, maybe I'm just hallucinating" Syd 2024
I'm curious if you don't show the endo kiss irl anymore for safety (incase kids copy)
No, we just don't have any recent ones so the sponsors are all wrong.
I'm admiring your XTR and I'm looking at trying to afford building Deore LX...You're complaining about a 24lb full suspension race bike? Lol...the contrast!
I love both these bikes, but Mackys is better 😜
I mean you’ve gotta name Syd’s bike the Sydnal Peak, right?
Good call 😂
When you are checking how heavy your bikes are why haven't you put your computers on the bars? Or a full water bottle on?
Which color scheme? Hmmm, I think you both know my choice.
I forgot to mention that I did find it on Amazon

Nej cameraes, Insta, drop the GoPro’s
"Very narrowly got taken out"...what about the chick that DID get taken out and went face first into the pavement?
lol Maxxis.......30 mile limit in rocky trails
Peopel who wish they were as good as them❤🎉😊
