- Remember when Sean Avery was signed by the Orlando Solar Bears for a few days? Well when Matthew Barnaby heard that he was hot on the trail to sign in the ECHL so he could finally fight Sean Avery! We had Barnaby on to talk about why he wants to fight Sean Avery, how close it got to happening, and why everyone hates Sean Avery!

It would be tough for me to know who to root for in a fight between Barnaby and Avery. I hated them both but I guess I hated Avery a little bit more.

Barnaby was not a heavyweight at all and always fought guys bigger then him. He didn’t win many of those fights at all but always answered the bell.
Barnaby would have destroyed Avery.

Barnaby never destroyed anyone except his ex wife, her garage door, his nose, and the tires on his car.

In his book, Avery straight up admits that fighting Barnaby was too risky. He also said you could hit Barney with a sledgehammer and he'd still be smiling. Come talk to me when Averys fight card has Stu Grimson, Tie Domi, Peter Worrell, Jeff Odgers, Hordichuk. Actually, Avery encountered Hordichuk one time, and turtled immediately lol. In scoring terms Avery averaged 0.42 ppg. Barnaby 0.36. So Avery gets a negligible edge there I guess,but in fighting? Avery never answered the bell with an actual tough guy. Barnaby made a career out of it. Case closed.
Difference was barnaby never won a fight against anyone except his ex wife….
@@billywalsh6312 true, Barnaby didn't win those fights with caliber fighters. I think his goal was to not necessarily fight them to see who was tougher. But fight them in the goal of pissing them off more lol. Look at those fights Barnaby had that took a good minute and he came out smiling, no matter how hard you hit him. Would piss you off even more.
Problem was he was just a coked up moron who put on a show for blue collared idiots in buffalo. Had no impact on a hockey game and players with ability laughed at his willingness to be an inconsequential punching bag for attention. Probably because he never had a father, that’s why he’s still like that today and can’t the chord.
Avery is the fucking man
Dont get me wrong, I very much like this guy but Its BS really. If it was Avery making challenges like this.... everyone would get in an uproar. Avery def was a.....weiner..... at times.... but he brought a lot to the table, especially for the Rangers. Stuck up for teammates, scored over 50 goals for the NYR, pissed of Marty like no one else could, got under every opponents skin, wasnt afraid to speak the truth about Tortts, wasnt afraid to drop them, won a few of them.... Come on already. Cut the guy some slack and give him the credit he deserves.
