@@skylarandmooseI can only venture to guess but more broadly speaking about mandatory DEI (Deversity Equity & Inclusion) practices for corporations - when you strive to make everything inclusive to all in order to attract diversity, you make it all the same so as to maximize inclusiveness and not to offend. And what’s happening is everything feels and looks the same. Diversity of people and skin tone but not thought or culture.

That word and "inclusivity". We're not people anymore, we're labels.

    • @joachim595
      @joachim595 4 місяці тому +6

The notion that diversity has come to enforce a kind of conformity is a critique that points to the potential for diversity efforts to become rigid or dogmatic. If diversity initiatives become prescriptive-mandating not just representation but also adherence to a specific set of beliefs or values-they risk contradicting the very principles of inclusivity and open dialogue that they aim to promote.

The way I try to describe it is, and I don't think this is a racist thing to say at all - I'm not a racist.
Despite wanting to explore other cultures etc which I love doing, people naturally want to be "around their own tribe"
That's why you have Chinatown. Indian communities, streets where maybe 90% of the residents are Polish. All of them. "Little Italy"
I love them all and all of the different things that they can contribute to society.
However, somewhat naturally (I'm a white English man)
I do kind of want to be surrounded by people who are like me - my tribe.
I'll dip into other cultures and explore the world when I want to.

    • @dodoxan4972

Watching from a certain distance, enjoying the priviliges of not having to REALLY get in touch with anything unknown.....
In my opinion this comparison makes it pretty obvious why some people view talking like that as rather problematic, Especially the "my tribe"- part.
I just don't see how this is so hard to understand.

Diversity in 'Culture' was never the intention. Diversity in innovation was the original cause. This became a mantra in business back in the late 80's-90's. Businesses were looking for new and innovative ways of thinking. Especially in technology and entertainment. Politicians grabbed it up and perverted it into cultural compression, which has never worked in all human history.

Diversity - the practice including people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations, etc. MOZ- Behind the hatred there lies a plundering desire for love.

Keep thinking logically. Cheers. If we want to go back to human made boxes with more labels and power houses ruling these boxes, we’re too late and no culture got anywhere without being influenced by another. Look and study history before just blabbering on and making assumptions and spreading “feels” as facts. ✌🏽

@@michealofloinn2539 nope, if I understand your concerns and comment correctly, we are on the same page and I thanked you for it. It feels utterly useless these days to try and talk to people about subjects without drowning in these echo chambers here. Morrissey and the Smiths made some cool music but the man himself seems to have gone rogue into fascism. Very sad. 😞

@@michealofloinn2539 ha! Right, I didn’t know that 😅. well, the history of the “English” is basically a melting pot of old Euro, Scandi and other import and explorers dating back to the dawn of mankind and a lot is known about it from early stone age times. Same for other folks, languages etc all around the world so the whole bla bla of us “intelligent humans” talking about culture, “diversity”, borders, ethnicity etc is all made up by us. No other species is so consumed by itself and acts as insane as a reaction to the mere thought of these subjects as we do. We literally k*ll one another for rotten ideas. Thanks for hanging out and your input here.
