One of the most Gut wrenching, Soul crushing break up songs ever written bar none!
Its like a nice Swedish version of "You Ought To Know"
The blond guitar player, Björn, was the lead singer Agnetha’s husband. He wrote this after going through their breakup and their divorce. So it is fair to say that this is an emotional performance for them. The piano player, Benny, and his wife Anni-Frid (backing vocals on this song) also went through their divorce not much later. This was the last period of the band together as they finished out existing commitments. You might want to check out “Gimme. Gimme. Gimme.” - ABBA, or “Fernando”. 👍🏻
There is no winner in these situations.
after these TV perfomance ABBA continue two years more, with a new album in 1981 and two singles in 1982
@Jason Meinhart - not only that, but he also wrote it in one night, after getting drunk (I think he was at home - not in some outside bar/pub/club). He basically got drunk and wrote it. He was talking about it in one of the interviews, several years back.
Apparently, Agnetha broke down in tears when she first read the words to this song.
@@tannhauser5399Swedes get drunk at home. It is near impossible for them to get drunk in a bar - unless things have changed after 40 years!
It was great being 19, 20 back then! Life was so much simpler. No internet. Social media. Cell phones! Those who grew up back then know what I mean!
ABBAs songs are full of catchy and happy melodies; you get in such a good mood when you listen to ABBA. Their music pick you up when you are down or in a depression. Make you want to dance and celebrate being alive. The music is effortless, and yet so complex in all their different layers. In my opinion, Benny Andersson is one of the very best composers of our time.
When you really and fully understand the text of ABBA songs, you will be amazed of the depth in the lyrics and the phenomenal insights in the challenges of being human. This ability allows us to easily identify with the lyrics. I do not know of any other group that can captivate me and enchant me like ABBA. Their music and lyrics are magical.
Neither do I know of any other group that can evoke as many different and genuine emotions and feelings in me as ABBA do. This is a rare talent that ABBA have in abundance.
I go as far as to say that this talent makes their music and lyrics a real healing on a very deep, unconscious level. So, in these very turbulent, chaotic and uncertain times, ABBA has a HUGE mission.
Love from Lena
Agnetha did not write this song. Her former husband Björn Ulvaeus standing next to her on the guitar and, Benny Anderson on the piano wrote the song. Look it up.
Hello, so nice to see You again with a new reaction to ABBA songs
"The winner takes it all" (1980)
is one of the Best Songs by ABBA
and the Most sad and emotional too
The best lyrics and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation of the lead singer Agnetha
The lyrics is a fiction, it is not about Their real life, although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences and the realization of the legal divorce in the middle of 1980, even though the blonde Agnetha and the guitarist Björn were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at end of 1978
These is a TV perfomance in Germany 1980, the sound is of the recording studio; ABBA play after "Super Trouper" and "On and On and On"
ABBA have more than 20 worldwide hits between 1972/1982, included:
Waterloo, Mamma Mía, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Knowing me knowing you, The name of the game, Take a chance on me, The winner takes it all, Súper Trouper (all these #1 in UK) and much more
All these songs are in your album recopilation GOLD (1992) that a few mounths ago just arrives to 1.000 weeks at Top 100 in UK Official Charts (first group singer or artist to do it)
and don't forget that in 2016 was a first reunion of all ABBA members, to the 50th anniversary of Benny & Björn friendship, in 2017 return to studio and between 2017/2021 recording a new album "Voyage" that is a worldwide succes Now
I think that you did reactions to ABBA songs with the blonde Agnetha as lead voice
My suggestion is to take songs with the brunnette Frida as lead voice:
Fernando (1976)
Knowing me knowing you (1977)
Super trouper (1980)
or the last new song
I still have faith in you (2021)
Thank you for your honesty
My best regards to you from
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Bjorn finally admitted what we all knew. That it actually is about their breakup and divorce. It is Agnetha's favorite ABBA song regardless.
@@brucethrasher8551
It's inspired in Your own divorce
Not the same as a true or really story
One word..... Timeless.
This song kills me every time....
Abba is everyone's style.
Great reaction. There was a time when one in six households had ABBA's Greatest Hits album. I've always felt the feeling behind this song, the singer singing her husbands lyrics.
Agnetha was soooooooo gorgeous !
I remember a trucker . Old school dude. Had abba in his truck . ( greatest hits) or another was a heavy metal or puck rock guy . All loved abba
Abba was an exceptional guilty pleasure for many rockers, metalheads and even punks,no matter what the critics were saying.lol!
ha!ha! Hey Shane!i do believe this. And I also loved David Grohl wearing unbashefully his Black n gold ABBA t-shirt while touring and also on some tv interview. He had the guts to show it off and didn't give a damn!
About their divorce. One of their last songs for almost 40 years until 2021's "Don't Shut Me Down"
It's 1980
After these ABBA recording an album and singles more until they split in 1982
"But tell me does she kiss,...like i used to kiss you?/does it feel the same, when she calls your name?" Words that cut like a knife!Piercing right through the heart. And how beautifully performed by Agnetha on the lead.Softly sung but also with convincing power, leaving you disarmed. The original official video is even better and more impactful compared to this studio tv show version.matching perfectly to the greatness of that breakup little masterpiece.

Many tried to recreate this masterpiece but the original is still roaring and unbeatable Agnitha's angelic voice also cannot forget the composers ❤❤❤❤
Sorry, but I have Agnetha in my top 10 of all female singers of all time, she is a 5 Octave & terribly underated
It's because she's from the small country Sweden.
The ABBA catalog is huge. Enjoy.
This song can not be sung any better by anyone (It is tried a lot)
The intention of this song is more complete on the song One of us, made by them, too. You must go to see that video. This is very real, dramatic and real. I like this two songs very much.
"SOS" next, best Abba song in my opinion, love the piano, synth, vocals and harmonies! Next after that "Fernando"!
What's amazing about this song is that it was written BY and sang TO her ex husband who is standing right by her (on her right). Check his look at 3:47 and you'll see he gives her a bit of shade.
Not exactly
Not 'sang TO her ex husband'
Agnetha & ABBA sang for the crowd
Yeah, same here, I want to go back and permanently live I the 70s also. Great song.
SOS, Chiquitita, The Name Of The Game or Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! are four good wellknown choices. Agneta often express stories in her singing in a way noone else does, according to me. ABBA has a great catalog, maybe 100 real good songs (most bangers actually) in different styles to choose from.
He did before Chiquitita and don't like it
Abba writes earworm after earworm.
ABBA - Fernando and Dancing Queen - your lady would like!
She does a great job since it's about their divorce.
And written by her ex (who standing right next to her).
It's a fiction story
but inspired by their divorce
The Day Before You Came is my favourite (sad) ABBA song. Maybe try that one? `or The Name of the Game. I think you will like those two :)
Agnetha tiene una voz increíble!!!
2nd bestselling band of all time, behind the Beatles, according to many sources. Certainly top 4!
I'm not sure what she means by more. More energy, more range, more changeups, more show?
But here are some suggestions that might apply if you want to pick one.
"Kisses of fire" (More flamboyant) ua-cam.com/video/q2d69hh7hwE/v-deo.html
"My love my life" (Vocals and range) ua-cam.com/video/LEAtkQwHsYY/v-deo.html
"SOS" (stage presence) ua-cam.com/video/KXTS47c6IUI/v-deo.html
"The name of the game" (Quintessential ABBA & video) ua-cam.com/video/iJ90ZqH0PWI/v-deo.html
"Summer night city" (ABBA Disco) ua-cam.com/video/_d5dPYHi17k/v-deo.html
"I've been waiting for you" (ABBA live, 70's bliss) ua-cam.com/video/A_jmNSJhZzI/v-deo.html
Or any of their gazillion big hits I guess?
Well, her ex-husband wrote those lyrics for her to sing.
He didn't wrote it for her
because Benny & Björn (both) choose Agnetha for these song
ABBA=WORLDCLASS
It's a GREAT song. But then again, I've been listening to it on and off for 40 years. I guess you'll get round to Dancing Queen soon enough. That's their masterpiece
If you want to hear her at a different (higher) level, try "Hole In Your Soul".
Wow That's a Rock fire!
Agnetha tiene una súper voz, ella es espectacular.
If you want Agnetha pushing it then The Day Before You Came is class.
Have you heard Tommy Johanssons cover of ABBA, he crushes every song he does. The winner takes it all.
At Vance did a great rock cover of this, and the singer was a male and killed it.
More great ABBA tracks for you and Dee: "Waterloo", "The Name Of The Game", "Mamma Mia", "SOS", "Dancing Queen", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Take A Chance On Me", "Does Your Mother Know"
A masterpiece
CHOD... your intro is the best man! Dee is pretty too!
You two make such a cute couple! Keep reacting to ABBA! Thank you!
You need to check out their song Super Trooper.
I recommend you a singer her name is Diana Navarro with the song "El perdón" she is a very versatile Spanish singer singing different styles of music with incredible melisma. She transmits a lot of emotion and emotion when she sings.
The movies are excellent. 🥰
Please do SLIPPING THRU MY FINGERS LIVE by ABBA !!
Your wife doesn't seemed to be moved much by music.
I would ditch the wife from your future reactions because if she doesn’t get / understand how great this song is, how well it is performed then she has no place in reacting to music.
You am tell that struck a massive chord with one of you, good, its the best
Try listening to her in "Thank You For the Music."
Next ABBA song to introduce your wife to should be "Dancing Queen" If she doesn't know it already ...
It’s very sad because it was a song that her husband in the band (Bjorn) wrote this about their marriage breakup. UUUUGH! That must be hard 😩😳😬🥰❤️💕
things only seemed simple, because you know what happened. it wasn't simple when they were living it.
Chod, you mentioned song about cheating.. Def should react with Dee to Frida's solo song There's Something Going On. FIRE!
Listen to "My Love, My life" - one of ABBA's best (hidden gem) songs, imho. it has some 10cc's influences (their famous "Im not in love").
Try the song '' ONE OF US'' no need to say any more, give it a listen👍🏻
Abba the best
Eles são muito bons !!!
Agnetha 💞💞💕💕💯
I’ve got a question Chod… Since that first reaction to Yes, have you gone back and checked the song out again? …I’m feeling you might have a different take now that they’ve stolen your heart. Just curious.
oh man the voice of your wife....
Chiquitita is what you need to hear
She wrote this song about the man standing right next to her. The one on guitar is her ex. Try "Dancing Queen". It's one of their most famous tracks.
I could be wrong but I was under the impression that he wrote the song and she sang it (changing up some words to show it from a womans perspective). Like I said though, I could be wrong, someone can correct me if they know the details.
No, you are correct. HE wrote it, not her.
No he wrote it not she .
melody writen by Benny (pianist)
lyrics writen by Björn (guitarist)
React to "I've been waiting for you" and 'tropical loveland" by abba
They have a couple of song about the breakup divorce. ( written during it )
Try your wife on ABBA "one of us"
Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie if you havent done it yet
"The" and "it" are missing from the title that you gave to the song - "winner takes all' verses 'The winner Takes it all' - which title is going to come out on top !! (I think it's odds on it's the latter) 🎲🎲
The divorce song... So sad... And yet they did a new album last year. react to that! And react to more WEMBLEY 79, Summernight City, Does you mother know/Hole in your soul...
Agnetha may occasionally sound a little disengaged because she's singing in a language (English) that isn't her natural one (Swedish). The natural rhythm of the lyrics may not always be there. But her dynamic, emotional voice still breaks through. And, of course, the ABBA "wall of sound" makes everything even more dynamic and dramatic. Perhaps a better demonstration of her vocal talent may be found on their hit single "S.O.S.," which some consider one of the best pop singles ever. But again, she's singing in a "foreign" language so certain inflections may come off as flat or distant.
Understand how you could have that perspective, but it's rubbish - she understood English fully
I think she did a hell of a good job on this one! Its flawless and she sings like a godess. Period.
Your wife might like to hear Elvis “If I Can Dream”
Barbara Streisand and John Travolta...
So painful... He's tryin;.
PLEASE REACT TO ABBA - Thats me = WORLDCLASS
ABBA is/was two married couples
This is not the official videoclip
IS THAT A WIG?
This song is littarly ”famous” for being sung immaculate by Agnetha... eh.. think one of you should rephrase the critique.. lol
Gary Moore the messiah Will come again
Check out...the brothers osbourne."it ain't my fault"
ABBA's outfits were actually a "tax dodge". There is an obscure tax code in Sweden that if a costume/clothing is considered "too impractical or outrageous for daily wear", you can write it off 100% from your taxes as a performer. So they never wore "street clothes" when on stage, so they could write off all their performance clothes on their taxes. They were made for them by a guy who was a zoologist and clothing designer, which makes the story even more weird...
faith george michael
But what about the LYRICS????? They obviously fail to move you it being just a “nice”. song. The piano and the fashion gets you going more than the song. Well, it takes all sorts.
We are all sinners, But through the Grace of Almighty God in Heaven. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ died for our sins and was risen 3 days later and he is The Way, The Truth and The Life. John 14:6.. John 3:16.
So he was dead for just a weekend and then became Gods right hand man?
Sign me up.
Not much of a sacrifice there if you believe that crap.
@@evilsmurf2k8 belief is all you need. The Bible is all about Jesus Christ. Dozens and dozens of prophecies fulfilled. Rev. 13 is a good one. Written 2,000 years ago about the "Mark of the Beast." A look at the world today shows we are running out of a time before God's grace ends. When his wrath comes, who will be able to stand? Just give it a look. I dare you. No...I double dare you. ****
Yeah, sure.
@@danieljette7409 Glad you agree. You must have read the scripture passage I showed.
Can I make a request for a song? Have you heard of the Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø? She is the national treasure of Norway and has a unbelievable voice. Her voice can also be heard in background music of the 1997 Titanic movie. Could you react to her performing "Imagine" by John Lennon? ua-cam.com/video/eZRzd1SiMMI/v-deo.html
Many reactions think this song is about her divorce …..they are all wrong…..
No, you are wrong. Björn said that deep down it was about their divorce.
I know their songs are great, but I can take them or leave them. Except "Dancing Queen", which is one of my favorite songs of all time, because I still enjoy listening to it. I don't know if it is because their songs were played a lot on the radio, or they are just not my taste. 🤔
Should I Drop out of Highschool to become the greatest artist alive❓ 🤷♂️⚕🎙💞
I guarantee the hype will not disappoint you. Is this young lady is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!!

(Bridge Over Troubled Waters)
Phenomenal!!!!
I actually never paid much attention to this song until I heard covers then I went back and listened to this original and now it’s one of my favorites from Abba! Actually there’s a cover by Roko Blacovizc from Croatia that did a better version
Really? Not
No one can do a better version than
the One and Only and Original
Agnetha Fältskog with ABBA
@@eduardooscar309 Agree.Always felt the original version is still unsurpassed. This song is already an anthem that whoever dares to touch this must think twice. But of course that's just my personal opinion. So does John TheGreek's i suppose.I'm glad though he went back and paid attention to the original and reconsidered for better.
@@christianoazzuro6711
I must be honest with what I think
It is very difficult to make some versions of the original ABBA songs
The magnificence of the voices and harmonies of Frida and Agnetha, and the complexity of the special recording and production arrangements, make ABBA's songs performed by ABBA unforgettable, incomparable and unattainable.
and in particular this heartbreaking song has the best storyteller interpreting it, with her privileged voice, stage attitude and physical gestures
@@eduardooscar309 You are an honest and kind person and you rightfully expressed your personal opinion to which i agree.Imagine an ABBAsong with no Agnetha and Frida. It would no way sound to me that great or even close to it.Everything "clicked" in an unbelievably perfect way and timing on this 4some team.So thank you very much for your nice and honest response.
You must wash your ears
