So, still fairly new to melee scene and I don't understand why M2K had to get rid of his charged needles @ 3:26 . Is there some rule against this in tournaments?
travis lambirth spawn points are random in melee, and M2K wanted a neutral start. it's generally frowned upon to be charging a move while your opponent is moving to their neutral start position, the logic being that the round hasn't "started" yet.
@@ZachCG Zach, thanks for answering me brother! Yeah, that makes total sense. For some reason I assumed if you wanted a neutral start you switch ports, but I guess port priority is a bigger deal than I realized.
neutral start is really just for stage positioning, port priority is a whole other issue. side-note, M2K is notorious for always trying to get the optimal port, lol.
Yeah I was just thinking you would normally get a neutral start by switching ports. So instead of S2J starting on the left platform at port 1, he could switch to port 3 and start stage right. But I'm guessing he didn't want to give up port priority by switching from 1 to 3.
actually, in some situations having the higher port is better! when a player with a lower port uses a throw on a player with a higher port, the player being thrown will experience one frame less of hitstun from that throw.

14:27 Also I wish to note that he lost that last game due to the platform under him rising just as he was jumping on his last stock. That has to be the worst way to lose!
He absolutely could have gotten a knee. The commentators said he was "too close" but thats bullshit lol. That is like the optimal spot that you want a poor sheik to land.
Yeah he may have not been ready for it, but as a Falcon player I can tell that he could have still went for that knee. Worst case scenario, m2k jumps away or maybe shields? I don't think throwing out a knee would have been dangerous. The recovery on Sheik up b is soo fking long. Honestly I've seen s2j play a lot in person and sometimes he just goes for things that seem odd to others but normal to him.
3:23 The way S2J just looker like “reely nigguh?” 😂😂😂😂
Someone should do an "omae wa moe shindeiru" footage when someone says "Johny stock" the factor is real!
Was that a platform shenanigan @15:43
Looks like regular platform movement?
you mean just before 15:43 . Looked like an immediate tournament winner from the ledge

Am I wrong to think S2J probably has the best movement in game, if at least top 3 best movement?
I think None is better honestly.

M2J
Me w 2 joints?
Was hoping for a Shine repeat :/ but good stuff to both players
I think S2J meant to knee instead of upair from the ledge 15:21 :(
hushpuppi3 didn't have enough time, the knee takes longer to come out. Have to have good timing.
yeah you're right, seems like he could have gotten off ledge sooner and have enough time to knee
He absolutely could have gotten a knee. The commentators said he was "too close" but thats bullshit lol. That is like the optimal spot that you want a poor sheik to land.
I think he was just a little too slow on the reaction and realized a knee would have been too slow so opted for an upair
