Same here. I spent $500 at Best Buy a few months ago on some 4k movies and I see some good shit coming out soon like Scott pilgrim vs the world on 4k,Howard the duck on 4k and Willy wonka and the chocolate factory on 4k and soon Godzilla vs Kong on 4k. My wallet is screaming rn🤣😭😭
I doubt it would look all that great tbh. That film could use a lot of attention to keep the colors from looking washed out and who knows who's gonna be in charge of getting that just right

Love this movie so much. I picked up my 4k copy on my birthday a few days ago and it looks amazing. Sucks it don’t have Dolby Atmos tho but still enjoyed it. Edit : I hope Twister comes to 4k next. I’ll die a happy man if that happens

The transfer on this release sets a standard as to how I hope all 35mm restorations look in 4K. The grain was so fine and the HDR really brought out the best in the colors without being overdone.

Speed is my old time favourite back when I was a kid I only have the DVD which is the 5 Star collection back in the day. I don't think I even seen any special features with Speed. Thanks for this fantastic review I can't wait to upgrade to the new 4K release and especially the film Heat this will be awesome.
It looked and sounded great on my system. Movie holds up really well and this is a great transfer. And I really liked your comparison shots with the Blu-Ray.
I got the steelbook, and I think the silver metallic shine works really well with the design! Anyway, I *really* hope that we get The Sound of Music on 4K, because I believe a 4K scan has already been done on that film as well. That is my Mom's favorite movie (and I love it too!), she even went to visit Salzburg back in college to see the filming locations, so I would love to get it for her in 4K looking the *best* it can look!

I personally struggle with a lot of 4k releases , they either look to soft or overly grainy , as well as color tones looking faded a few that come to mind are deep water horizon, casino, first blood, so for me 4k has been a mixed bag, some titles i own that i love on 4k are 2001, grease, blade runner 1982, sicario, dunkirk, personally i dont think anything can top 2001 its perfect, but i believe it was shot on 8k so it had a lot to work with, love the vids jeff ! btw! I actually still buy 2k media as well as 4k to me its whatever looks best !
Hello- I got the 4K on release day. its A+++ in every way you'd want a 4K disc to be.also what's fascinating is the 1st rate extras on a separate blu-ray were not on the original blu-ray released by Fox some 10? years ago. plus they're in pristine condition and look like they were shot yesterday.
Bought mine from Walmart, it had the slipcover and I went from the VHS that my parents bought straight to 4k lol big jump there, never saw it on DVD or blu-ray

I bought my copy from Wal-Mart and watched it right away. It was a pretty cool release. I did like the coloring. The textures. Really triumped over the blu-ray. Disney really should cut out this nonsense and just keep releasing 4k. Seriously! Give me the first 4 Pirates of the Caribbean movies on 4k! The rest of the Die Hards. The Taken TRILOGY! Some of the older ones like Commando. Just go all out Disney! You're still getting our money. Come on folks!
Keep in mind the entire Academy votes for the winners of Best Sound and Best Sound Effects Editing, not just the small sound engineers branch. The Cinema Audio Society actually chose Forrest Gump over Speed, as the best achievement in Sound mixing for 1994.

This is slightly random but have you heard anything about a sound of music 4k disk being worked on before disney and fox merged? Don’t own the Blu-ray and was thinking about buying it but if a 4K is coming in the near future I wanna wait
I live in Brazil and i remember watch "Speed", when i was a child, on TV or on DVD with a dubbed audio that had a very poor quality, but when i switched to "original" audio track the quality changed drasticaly. Imagine now on Remastered DTS-MA!

My local best buy got rid of their movie section, all but one small two sided rack. I was more than bummed when I saw it. Even my girlfriend was taken aback, I almost always grab a movie when I go to best buy -_-
Now that Disney is releasing Fox movies, maybe they can finally get that 4K version of "The Abyss" that has been languishing for years now. The transfer is done, the audio mix is done. Let's do it!
For those that enjoy slip covers, what is it about them that drives you to want to include it over not having it? The slips in my experience get beat up since it's just cardboard and is an extra step to getting a disc in/out of the case but I'm curious to know what it means to others to have it vs not having it. I keep mine if it comes with it but it has nothing to do with the purchase.
I agree, cardboard slip covers feel crappy. However, I recently bought a steelbook of Total Recall with a plastic slip cover and thought the packaging overall was pretty nice.
They’re having serious manufacturing and production delays lately with these big physical media releases. Also why the smaller studios keep pushing things back
It is a letdown that this doesn’t have Atmos. The sound on the 5.1 is no good. Bass is not there. Gun shots are very subdued. Dynamics suffer. Don’t understand why it won the Oscar sound effect award.
Steelbook fans ftw! The slipcover art looks horrible imo. Its actually kind of misleading because it makes it look like people are chasing them in the bus when thats not the plot of the movie.

There is nothing cut. A film restoration of its genuine cant cut scenes, otherwise it wouldn’t be a restoration
