great video as always, but... dude, where's the cigar at??! always loved seeing you enjoying your cigar as you shoot. more of that please, and also share a little about what you are smoking. thanks!
7:52 bro it's lovely and so calm belying the remnants of the areas industrial past, you can imagine all the activity that used to take place on this river while admiring the tranquility. Blues look great too!
Great video and photos! I have a Pro Pack of expired Portra 160 220 that I nabbed from an estate sale. It’s in the refrigerator waiting to be run through my Mamiya 220. Thanks for the inspiration.
Damn, you're good when it comes to pointing a camera at the right place ! I'm not only talking about the photos, but also the on location video parts. This is great work. My favorite is the 4:54 picture
My friend Hillarie Jason just gave me a roll of 220 Fuji 160ns that expired in 2003. I'm going to shoot it at ISO 25-50 in my Fuji G690 blp, but I haven't gotten around to it. When I started shooting film (again) in 2008, I got a few boxes of kodak 400VC 220. It was my absolute favorite film. I've been saving them for special trips, but now that they are a decade+ expired, I shot a roll in Shenandoah Nov 2020 and they just look "thin" now.
they all turned out incredible! my favs are for sure either 3:07 or 4:57 - just imagining them as prints is amazing!!! I want to get my hands on 220 now (the dream 16 shots instead of 8 on the 690)
I love the days when I find channels such as yours. Now I know how I will spend my weekend :D Very beautiful photos you capture and there is a 100% chance I will think the same about the rest of the videos as well.
Hi Surya from India here. Expired films are beautifull in it's own way. I just bought a minolta SRT101 for myself and looking at your pictures and the way you shoot really inspires me. When it comes to film its just light and shadows that you have to frame within and I loved the way you framed building, door, floor, rust, dirt and a lovely morning lake within a frame at the back 05:00 ! lovely mate!!!
The beauty of an early start is evident at first light. I'm getting caught up on videos on my one measly day off. The scenery was beautiful right down to the abandoned empty beer cans in the sunshine ☀️ Cheers! 😁👍
Great pictures I’ve just bought a Fuji GW 6 x9 mk1. With a 90 mil lens fixed in good condition and I’ve got some 220 Film to shoot next just done a roll of portra 400
Some of the best results I’ve seen from some expired film, Robbie! You’ve done an excellent job to capture details while exposing both for inside and outside of the buildings, particularly 4:55. Keep up the good work.
Always blown away with your videos, I get excited to see a new upload from your channel. I enjoy your relaxing sit back and enjoy vibe! I love all the shots but the image at 4:59 stood out to me personally. I'm new to film and enjoy shooting abandoned structures as well as enjoy time on the water so this image hits for me. I find chasing abandoned scenes exhilarating while my time fly fishing on the water puts me at ease, a great balance in one image. Thank you for the video!
Stellar work. I like all interior shots, the light is amazing. I was never impressed with Portra before this video. These shots changed my mind and you did it with expired film. Kudos to you.
Your first photo at 2:10 was stellar. Those long shadows with that warm light is beautiful. I really enjoyed this video. Also makes me want to bust out my gsw690iii too.
I'm always glad to see folks shooting in New England, especially in Conn! I'm so used to folks shooting out west our in other distant locales. Edit: Liked the fame at 7:55 the most... probably. hard to pick
The frame at 9:22 is stunning. I feel like it shows off the strengths of the gw690. The level of detail and how the camera rendered the scene, makes me want to dust off my own gw690ii haha!
Dude, I love your energy. Finding inspiration to go out and shoot film can be hard to find sometimes, but every time I watch your content, I find myself loading up for a shoot the next day. Thank you. Much love bruddah. ❤️
Another mint video! Really enjoyed seeing the expired film and the colours that you got from it, worked with the location so well! I loved the images at 4:53 and 5:43 - the others were good but these two stood out for me. Keep up the amazing work!
I really love the piler photo at 2:10 you smacked me in the mouth right away with this frame. freaking love it. I love the comp but really love the early morning light that adds that little bit of punch to it. It just hits different then the rest for me. Amazing frame Robbie love the photo and love the content
That is a tough call! There were four shots I was geeking over, haha. 4:55 wins for me. I like how you captured the stillness of the lake(?) through the “window”. You get a bit of everything. Awesome video on such a killer morning. And great music👍
It's a close battle between 2:17 and 3:01 But my favorite has to be 2:17. It's very industrial but at the same time there's signs of nature reclaiming it's territory. Loved the videography, btw.
Another great video. What a shame to see that pilot house sticking out of the water. But my favorite shot was the river reflection at 7:53. Sold my 3 Fujicas and settled on the Gw670iii. What a nice piece of gear. Looking forward to seeing your new videos this year.
Shanghai GP3 is cooking fresh 220 btw. It was dicey at first, but their QC has really improved. I'd recommend xtol 1+3 for 16 minutes. My new favorite emulsion for the GW - love having 18 shots.
@@RobbieMaynardCreates If you do, just watch the highlights. It's a pretty contrasty film and has a tendency to blow things out, hence the xtol dilution. The best comparison I can think of is that it's like a 100 speed Pan F+, so I treat it with the same contrast-reducing workflow. Everything else about the emulsion is great - end result looks like trix once you tame the contrast. Well worth it IMHO to have a supply of fresh 220. They also have sheet film now- 4x5 100 sheets for $32!
Robbie it is a hard choice as they are all gems, in saying that l think image 5 as you shot this mainly inside with bright outdoor light on those windows. The shot also picks up the rich deep colour of the street art (aka graffiti). Great video
My favorite image is at 5:00, looking out over the river with the light coming in the windows to the left and the light fog on the water. I also hope you got a nice photo of that sunken boat in the river too.
@@RobbieMaynardCreates I'd love to see those images! Your work is excellent and I enjoy your videos. I'm located in Northwestern Vermont, so not really all that far away.
Loved the video. I've just started learning more about film photography. How do you meter your shots with the bright light coming through the windows? Thanks for any help.
Hey Robbie - thanks for a great video. I really look forward to your videos they are well paced and always with beautiful images. I had to go through the whole thing again to decide - but I actually really like the first one 2:10 something about the mist, light and reflections on the floor! Great work man!
A fascinating place, I’m guessing built around the 1930s? I love the steel windows and high quality joinery doors, against the ‘brutalist’ concrete. Favourite image has to be 4:53
Hey there! Great video- thanks for inspiring me to do the same! Dumb question… when you get it developed, do you note to push the film 1-2 stops, or let the lab treat it as box speed?
I always just thought 220 was just a longer version of 120, learn something new everyday! As for my favorite photos "It's 4:22 and I hope my wish comes true" The Juliana Theory - This Is Not a Lovesong 🤓

I appreciate that, Ken!

Definitely the shot at 5:00 it’s such a good photo with the warm pastel colors and the contrast between the industrial building and foggy landscape
Thanks, Pat!
5:42, the tones in this image...*chef's kiss*
haha love it!
The shot at 5:42 is just *chef's kiss* good. Love the lighting and the framing of the shot.
Thank you!
they all turned out incredible! my favs are for sure either 3:07 or 4:57 - just imagining them as prints is amazing!!! I want to get my hands on 220 now (the dream 16 shots instead of 8 on the 690)
It was so nice to have those extra shots! I actually printed out a 13x19 of the image with the doors - maybe Ill give one of those away lol
I like 5:42 with the big windows, high ceiling and even the mattress in the lower left window. Great job!
Great eye, John!
I love these abandoned places and I love your shots

Great location and shots as usual Robbie, amazing tones in the Portra. My favourite is shot #2, at 3:05 is soulful and great in portrait.
Thank you 😊
Gotta be 7:52 for me! Love the horizon line, the shades of blue in the water, and the reflection of the trees
Thank you so much!
Really liking the shot at 4:53 and how the window panes have reflected onto the ceiling beam. Nicely done.
I like that you picked up on that! That was one of my favorite aspects of the image too
