10 years on, and you've made Sonic.EXE's most iconic song even better than before, and in time for a fresh remaster of the original game. It's great to see that you came back to compose for the game once more. ^^
Thank you. I never retired, lol, take a look at my channel! Unless you mean in regards to EXE content, in which case yes, I had distanced myself from it. I'm happy to be making EXE content again though, I didn't imagine I'd enjoy it as much as I did this time. ^^
One thing that I always loved with the original is how the first and last stage were the same. When first hearing at Tail's stage it is obvious it is a reversed song but it sounds sooo... chaotic, so omnious that it exhibits fear and the feeling of being stalked by the unknown, that a monster is lurking the environments. When this plays at Robotnik's stage, the song is played normally and just sounds dreadful, depressing, sad.... By that time, you already know what's going to happen and you can just walk forward expecting for the worst to happen and that songs fits that clearly. Reversed it fits the feeling of fear and unknown but when played normally, it's giving the feeling of powerlesness and fright. This is why I actually like this song and how it's used. It's just so fitting in how they're used both time and the only thing that changed is one being reversed and the other not
This track has been unimaginably close to my heart for almost decade now. This is the song I grew up with. I always loved this creepypasta, and this music was just its "main theme" to me. This track is important to me, and got me through many, many tough moments in my life. It ironically helped me feel calm, serene, grounded, and above all else it reminded me of something that brought me happiness. Seeing the official remake have your name in the credits is an unimaginable level of surreal, and the fact that out of all the tracks, this one stayed perfectly intact, just as it originally was, fills me with joy. Thank you for this iconic theme.
Dude, I honestly didn't think you'd reprise your role as a composer on the official remake, and when a friend of mine tweeted that you in-fact did, I was so happy!!! Other remixes that I heard just don’t hit right . This tho hits everything correctly, I love how you added a bit of bitcrush to add to that un easy-ness but the tune still keeps its off putting vibe. @@FatTundra64 Thank you for your comment! I'm really happy you enjoy my music! That "bit crushing" you hear is actually a subtle distortion (popularly referred to as "ladder distortion") that the Sega Genesis Model 1 had due to a minor quirk in the way it was assembled with the YM2612 sound chip. Although it was incidental, many music and sound composers on the Sega Genesis took advantage of it. I personally like it because it brings out some tones and harmonics more and (albeit at the expense of losing some volume dynamic at the lower end) it also makes for longer note sustain and release times. In the Model 2 with the YM3438 (a clearer and slightly louder variant of the YM2612), this distortion is subtler and the general sound is slightly crispier. When I composed these songs I exported them in VGM format which is (most usually) compatible with the real hardware, and I played them back on foobar2000 with an extension that's not listed in the foobar2000.org website and it's called foo_input_vgm (if you look it up, yes, it's Japanese) - it is a foobar2000 fork of the WinAmp plugin and playback engine, VGMPlay (in_vgm). Amongst other things, this particular plugin allows you to select the kind of emulation you want for certain sound chips, including the YM2612, and you can choose whether you want yo emulate the Sega Genesis Model 1 or Model 2 with a couple quirks to each one: • Model 1 standard • Model 1 unfiltered • Model 2 integrated sound chip • Model 2 discrete sound chip I can't say exactly which one I picked because in the foobar2000 variant of this plugin, the chip type is selected by ticking MSB and LSB (most and least significant bit) checkboxes, but it's one of the Model 1 ones. Random question:Was this based off the world of ruin music in ff6 because it sound very similar to it,it’d make sense considering sonic.exe has the same laugh as the villain in ff6
Hello there. No, it wasn't, even though most people assume that. As hard as it may seem to believe, I hadn't even heard the FFVI dark world map theme (the only FF game I have played is FFVIII), until people started telling me that they sounded similar, and some people even assumed that I "stole" it. However, time after time I keep reminding people that the one musical inspiration that I took from outside of me, was not the FFVI dark world map theme, but instead a track from the Sin City OST called Kiss of Death. About 10 or 11 seconds into the track, there's a chord progression with piano chords which I based myself off of, you will notice when you hear it. Thank you for stepping by and commenting!
The fact that the stairs turn into a slope behind Paul's feet is pretty cool. It really gives you a "no turning back" vibe.

Amazing music
Hi, I'm making a Sonic fan game based on exe and would like to know if I'm allowed to use this track (of course, your name would be in the credits)
Sure, go ahead!
This took a while to pull up from a link. It just jumpscared me.
I downloaded both of the mp3 zip files from dropbox, and ... was missing from the folder
I can see them though.
All the files are updated but I'll update them again if the issue persists.
There is a guy who abused copyright claim , recorded your soundtracks and claimed it as his own. His name is "The Exetior"

I'm rooting up for Sally.exe official remake.
