    The best way to explain how the gear goes back on is to make sure the flat edge of the inner part of the gear faces the rear of the mower.

      On the top side, that is! Good point, thanks.

      @@dhgmllcshea5038 gear has DOT .. right side the dot should face towards outside. and left side the dot should face towards inside .. 2. when u turn the gear to left it should make ratcheting sound towards back of the lawn mower and it should not roll when rotating to the right. if you see other way that means you flipoped the dot .. 3. if all is well when u lift the rear and press the drive bar, it should rotate towards forward. 4. after fixing all when you move forward it should make ratcheting sound.. all these 4 steps will help you for anyone who is looking for order. Pro Tip. the height adjuster lever can be bent flat

    Hey what about the wheels not rolling backwards. I read a comment on another video that replacing the adjuster assembly with a new one would correct the problem. what do you think?

    • @CaptFerd
      @CaptFerd  6 місяців тому +1

      The wheels and the adjusters are separate entities. If it's not rolling backwards, it's likely an issue with the small gears visible when you remove the wheels. At the five-minute mark in the video, the height adjuster is already in place, and the gears for the wheel are under construction. This is the point where any issues with the wheels would become apparent. The wheel adjuster's sole function is to raise and lower the mower. I disagree that a new adjuster would resolve the wheel issue. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

      @@CaptFerd the adjuster assembly has a bushing that the axl goes through. Apparently that’s the problem. The older ones it’s too tight

      @@byronturnbow2189 so sorry I see what your talking about your on the right path. If lubricating from the back side with oil isn't effective, removing and cleaning the adjusters along with the axle might be a solution. If the adjusters are undamaged, you can buy the bushings and seals separately.

      @@CaptFerd from what I heard lubrication helps temporarily but it gets worse. I have an older HRR I think I’m going to replace the adjuster with the bushings already assembled. They’re less than $20

      Make sure that clip is off on the backside. 9 minutes into the video is were you see it. Try to get penetrating oil in there if you cant turn it.

      This whole thing is concerning to me because I just bought one. That mower looks pretty new how soon does this happen after you buy one?
