Briggs Plastic Carburetor
Mower was popping running rough and stalling. These carbs are plastic and can cause a lot of headaches when they get old. For 10 bucks why not just put a new one on. A lot of info here that the other thousands of videos don't give you. Enjoy

Cub Cadet - MTD Deck Belts coming Off

These older models of the LTX 1050 & 1048 and other Mtds had serious problems with the deck belts flying off, getting ate up and destroyed. These decks were original designed to have 5/8-inch-wide belts but becuase of the extra cost they came from the factory with a 1/2-inch-wide size. Many owners over the years would have to replace them several times a year to get through the mowing season. L...

It's possible that the cylinder wall that the piston slides into may be cracked. It will feel like everything is fine until you press against the wall. The crack I mention will leak any compression that the piston creates. That would be my best guess as its common with these saws. Thanks for your support and hope this helps.
@CaptFerd ok,thank you,i will check it
Can I install two smaller wheels instead?
Thanks for sharing. That helps a lot.

I am currently dealing with this nonsense, I tried a 5/8" x 130" belt, absolutely will not fit my 2011 LTX 1050 deck. Far too short due to the radia of six pulley's consuming the thicker belt material. Yes; that is with adjustor in the nearest to idler pulley assembly. There is clearly a need for a longer 5/8" belt. I currently believe that 5/8" belt length to 169" and if set the spring tension stud back to the forward position. I hope this helps anyone dealing with the cost of belts and the lack of credible info on the part of Cub Cadet.
Thanks for watching. I hope that this helps. I know how frustrating these decks can be. I had heard that they were originaly designed for a 5/8 belt but was cheaper for mtd to roll them off the assembly line with a cheaper thinner belt. The one I used was 162 3/4 long. Thats a lot of belt for a mower deck. Thanks again and good luck friend.

Fantastic video! Local supply house had the correct solenoid and your video solved my our issue! A HUGE thank you!!!
So glad to help and thank you for watching.
I am curious what aftermarket fuel pump would you try? We have a fleet of air compressors with these Kohler Command Pro EFI engines, and more than a few are showing similar symptoms to what you showed in the video. I am leaning towards buying a fuel presssure testing kit, or the Kohler test kit, to narrow down the diagnosis. Not a fan of just swapping out parts and hoping we solve the issue.
All the aftermarket fuel pumps come from the same place as the koler. They are all branded different by different bulk buyers. So brand wont matter. Best bet is to find the best price model your looking for. I always use amazon, best return policy. If it comes with a filter toss it and get the Kohler 10-micron filter. I havent found any substitutes for that. pressure tester not a bad idea to isolate a bad pump. Thanks for watching and hope I was some help.
Awesome vid. Great job

I just bought one of these with 800 hours. Love it. Needs a little work but runs good. Only thing is my floor boards are completely rusted out. Can we still get chassis parts? Thanks
The part # for mine is CY-1A7880-62500. I did a quick search and cant find anything. May have to get out the welder patch the old if you can or fabricate a new one. But there has to be one out there somewhere just got to find it. Ill keep an eye out for ya. Thanks again for your support.
Cool. I just bought one with a deck and blower for 3k. ! How much of a chore is it to remove the deck. Thanks.
Not the easiest. Lower it to the ground. Take the pins out of the rear wheels on the deck so you can turn them. Release the front part and remove it. Unlatch the the pins from where it raises the deck and raise them up out of the way. Then remove the drive shaft from the transfer case and be careful not to separate the 2 pieces. Very heavy takes some time but easier the more you do it. Heres one that may interest you. ua-cam.com/video/m0EVyeBEowo/v-deo.htmlsi=ro8-24vGN2fANVBh Its a different brand but ztr with the Yanmar diesel and similar design. I am dealing with the EXACT. SAME. ISSUE. Burned up two motors, then bought that Home Depot Vevor motor. Guess what? It burned up after three weeks. I have 8 gauge wire.
The compressor in this video has been reassigned to a different part of the shop where it is only used for powering a vehicle lift, impact wrenches and a tire changer (Light duty). Doesnt get used much at all over there. Im sure if they continued to run the sanders and grinders on it that it would have burnt again but it hasnt to this point. Dont know if I mentioned it, but I put a new check valve in it as well. Ive often wondered if the pump itself may be the problem, a bad configuration of pulleys or something like that. No one can figure it out. Feel bad for all the people going through this and there are a lot. They've been selling them for years and continue to sell them today with this same problem.
Thanks for the video. I'm doing research trying to figure out if I should buy this air compressor or not. It currently on sale $200 cheaper from Tractor Supply and I cant spend any more money on something larger. Wondering if I should buy something else. For my research purposes, how have the mods been doing? Have you had any issues since installing the new motor and magnetic starter? Thanks again!
The compressor in this video has been reassigned to a different part of the shop where it is only used for powering a vehicle lift, impact wrenches and a tire changer (Light duty). It has been problem free since these repairs and upgrades were made. If you plan on using it to run air sanders and grinders it will run constant and hot. My opinion would be that if you're only going to use it as a light duty compressor like I described above you should be ok if you add a magnetic starter. If you're going to use it to run body shop type tools, you'll have to dig deeper in the wallet and go with one of the very few that are made here in the US. The problem is that these compressors are everywhere disguised under different colors and name brands and all at that price range. With all that said the one you found may be your best bet but for home use only. Shopping around may be a waste of time. Be sure to get all the info you can about getting it serviced if a problem should arise during warranty. Im not sure how TC does that anymore. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@@CaptFerd Fantastic info, I appreciate it. I'm glad to hear the mods worked well. Definitely going for home garage use. Impact wrench and sandblaster mostly. Maybe a sander or small paint booth one day or even vehicle lift. I liked the 15,000 hour lifetime on this two stage compressor but after digging into it iv found this issue with the electric motor. It definitely seems like getting the magnetic starter is a must. Not sure if straight installing the magnetic starter would void warranty at all, but that's an Ingersoll Rand question. At the very least I know I can go with the magnetic starter if the first one fails outside of warranty. I appreciate your response!
@@JHarris Hopefully they've addressed the issues, and you'll enjoy years of problem free service like the old Ingersoll brands once did. Thanks again for your support of my channel
Mine is running the second you turn the key on. The controls aren’t working while this is happening. So I wish there was a way to diagnose the solenoid. I’m going to measure continuity with the control box disconnected. If it is closed I’ll start with replacing the solenoid. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Trusted Services Plumbing. I highly recommend this guys!
Great guy. Heck he gave me a free shirt.
I can understand you replacing the motor once but if you have to put more than one motor on it then pick a better motor! There are electric motors entirely built in the US you can buy. Fool me twice shame on me. WHy are you putting trash motors on this compressor? WAIT! I know why because you don't want to PAY FOR IT! People complain about trash products but won't ever pony up for a quality product made here. The problem is people not the companies because the companies know YOU won't buy it if it's expensive. I buy only quality on products I care about. I never have this problem. If everyone purchased like me there would be no such thing as junk products. When I have a problem it's because I cheapened out. People don't care about quality at all. All they care about price. My electrician once told me he has customers that complain about an extra $50 on something they KNOW could kill them if it fails. That's how stupid people are. It's the same type of people that will go on strike to make $40/hour then complain that cars cost $60k. People are stupid.
You may have missed the part where a different motor was ordered, but the same motor I was trying to get away from was sent instead. This is not my personal compressor. The work was being done for a company that I do service for. You are so right that people get what they pay for and the damaged we suffer by not supporting our US products, but there are not many options out there for these compressors. Thank you for your patriotism, comment and for watching.
Can't get mine to work. The motor not receiving power. Followed instructions. Can I send you a picture to confirm connections
Sorry to hear that. Would be glad to help email your pic
Found out the problem. It was A2 I was needing to connect to and the wire from the switch to L1 instead of L3. I found a video showing it with this brand. It could of changed over the years.

Thanks for the video, lots of good information.
Thanks for your support. Got a few more Miller welder videos coming soon.
And show what was the problem or you just replacing Parts what went wrong with the original transmission the pump the gears what was broken
On the faces of the pumps you could see the scratches that prevent them from working. The mower would turn in circles uphill because of the weak pump. The parts that you saw me change with new were what were bad or broken. All the gears and everything else were ok. Thanks for the comment and questions I hope this helps.
So my question is, is the nut on top of the pulley the only thing holding it on the spindle? Pulled the nut off and after soaking 24 hrs in Break Free CLP, the thing won't budge. Thinking I might need a pulley puller? Toro ZX5450 (74832) 54" deck
Yes thats the only thing that holds it. With the nut off you should see a star or spline pattern that mates the spindle and pully. Screw the nut back on to protect the threads on the nut and spindle. Leave space and tap on the nut with a hammer. That should pop the pully off and drive the shaft downwards. Now once you get the pully lose. take the nut off remove the pully. You should be able to remove the spindle after that. May have to put the nut back on if you have to tap that spindle out. Just dont damage the treads.. Thanks for watching and commenting glad to help with what I can.
Man. What a great video. I am starting to rebuild my Farm Boss. This is what I needed. I don’t understand to this day WHY mine overheated or caught fire. I’ve always had gas in one side and oil in the other but Ace Hardware said it was because there was no oil in the fuel. What?

how can i get to my check engine light to work? it doesn’t take a regular light bulb like the rest of them
On this model from 2003 to 2012 the lights are all the same. Is yours an older model or one of the new ones?

I have the same compressor the motor reads FLA 24.9 would it be ok to set the amperage at 28 amps.
That would be an idea setting. You could dial it down but may find yourself resetting the breaker every now and then.
I did it the same way, except I also made some washers out of aluminum to help spread the pressure on the thin metal under the bolt heads. Kind of like the metal spacers on an old V8 valve cover. That tin deforms easily, and it’s a wonder that special washers were not used in the first place.
I remember those ole valve covers. Great idea and I bet they work great. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching.
excellent! thank you.

I found someone selling these online for $100 a piece and thought I could do this myself. I have old fence posts laying around just need to get rope. Thanks for the detailed video, it will help me make a few for around my house.
Youll have no problem they are easy to make. So much more satisfying to look at when youve made them yourself. Thanks for your support.
Super job Ferd, I rebuilt one of those a while back, bearing and seals too.. It's such a shame there doesn't seem to much if any aftermarket parts for Makita saws.. The Stihl saws are very well supported by aftermarket suppliers, even parts for the old TS350's etc..
The head and piston were around $400 . A while back it was a new coil. Yep no aftermarket parts over here. Very expensive to fix but well built machines are worth it.
@@CaptFerd Totally agree with you Ferd. In the UK tradesmen tend to use the Stihl TS400 & TS410 disc cutters.. For some reason Makita machines are rather thin on the ground.. Have a great day, Simon..
Why not install a caster instead of a piece of wood?
Thank you for the great idea; it seems like it would work. I was seeking a more cost-effective option. It appears to still work well, lasting a few years given the minimal use I require from them. Again, thank you for sharing.
@@CaptFerd I’m A little to buy one myself and was thinking it through and a caster makes a lot of sense to me. I like your idea but a castor should last for years and won’t drag

Thank you for your kind comments and support. I was measuring from the wrong fin on the motor as you could see that first trip out.
You have just hit the tip of the ice-burg on air compressors. I have purchase several air compressors over the last 60 some years. The first one for my use I was advised to get a "5hp". That compressor served me very well so every air compressor I purchase after that said "5hp--MAKE" painted on the side. Most of the time they said "hp--5" on the motor. This time as I looked at the various compressors, they looked about the same size as my 5hp had been, but they had no obvious 'hp" rating on the tank nor did the motor say "hp-5"; it said "hp-- spl". Also, I have a problem accepting advice on air compressors from a clerk that moments before was an expert on "dog food" to another customer. So I picked one that looked about like my old 5hp compressors. As I "broke it in" I clocked it and it took 8 minutes to get to shut-off pressure. On the tank it did say if you have problems "DO NOT TAKE IT BACK TO WHERE YOU PURCHASED IT-- Call this 800 number". I called it and they answered the phone with, "Campbell Hausfield". I said I was calling DeWalt. The person explained that his company makes many compressors and put various company names on them. He explained that they don't rate air compressors by "horse power". They are rated by "Cubic Feed per Minute ---CFM's. I asked how many CFM's was my 5hp compressor rated at so I could decide which CFM air compressor would equal my 5hp. He couldn't say. As you, I saw the "Assembled in the USA", so I looked at each component and found that the "tank" MIGHT have been the only USA part on it. Stanley Black and Decker have purchase many old US brand names such as Craftsman, Proto, Mac and gone through and made product changes so they could make a bigger profit.
It couldn't have been said any better. While working at Sam's Club, I watched a man come in and switch all the stickers on the batteries we had in stock. They went from Exide to Duracell right before my eyes. What a deception with name brands. Thank you for sharing.
Your a genius, you can fix anything.
LOL .
Next week we find out why they were adding oil....
LOL . Shit hit the fan when I told the owner of the company. Fingers started pointing everywhere. Im guessing the oil just jumped in there by itself. No one admits to adding the oil. If its using it Your so right, I may get to put those rings in anyway. Thanks for watching.
I know how you feel I’m in my late 50 s and I do collision repair and I have one of these crap compressors and I’m paying for a vacation and next purchase will be fix my ingersol Rand compressor or take everything off the top and start from scratch I love the way you work and blessed I found you
This one was used to run Da sanders as well. Lots of good solutions and tips in the comments below. Im thinking that ive heard some good words about the Harbor freight pumps but havent tried them myself. Whichever you go with find a good motor and add a magnetic switch. Glad you found me to.

2:52 Stay on task. Prove it is a fuel problem before dicking around with a choke blade. It ran at some point, and that blade won't change that. 3:55 Head gasket? No that is timing. Is this your first time seeing Kohler magnets fall off, or a sheered flywheel key?
The choke plate was preventing it from starting at all. They bent it to the point of being stuck. Once off it fired up the way it did. (Sputtered and popped). I think you miss next, where I zoomed in on the rocker arm that moved off the top of the Valve. 4:17 That was the sole problem of it not running and answering the question of why it had 150 lbs compression, spark and fuel but still did not run. This is rare but I have seen this happen before with hydraulic lifters. Sorry if the video didn't meet your expectations Ill do better next time. Thanks for watching and sharing your comment.
