Really enjoying the channel and appreciate that you still offer lessons rather than moving to a vlog like so many other channels!

I really love this channel.❤️❤️❤️
Focusing on lighting rather than equipments is really helpful
But also addicting!!
these things make a huge difference for filming interviews in an office where you cant turn off overhead lights and you have a lot of windows. stops random hot spots and glares all over peoples faces/heads.
Very great point, I couldn’t agree more

Great stuff. Simple concept. Well addressed
Thank you kindly
The colours on the wide at 4min 50secs are so so nice bro, would love to see a video on how you graded this!
Why this channel doesnt have 1millions of subscribers? Why Pro DP only have Low subscribers rather than thos Content Creators Pirated the knowledge of other Pro DP and Copy it and Record it and Upload it on UA-cam?
This Channel I Love so Much.
I'm getting addicted to your content! haha awesome work
Ahahah I think that’s good!

Incredible

Thank YOU
cool bro thanks!
Great Tip !
Thank you !
@@BradyBessette I'll use it soon on a video I am preparing.
Nice video! I'll definitely consider it in the future
Heck yeah!! Thank you
The most useful breakdown of this topic I have seen. I also appreciate how the second camera includes the complete setup in the frame (first camera, boom, floppy) so we can see exactly what is happening. The outdoor side-by-side demo is especially useful as I haven't had to do any serious outdoor shoot yet and want to learn how to exercise some control over intense natural lighting. Myself, for fill I am having to kill two birds with one stone at the moment: I just have these nice (if somewhat unwieldy) sound blankets that happen to be black on one side and white on the other, so they can do fill duties while helping me control sound.
Honestly I do appreciate this comment a lot. It’s reassuring knowing my thought process behind how I film each video makes sense. So thank you
You live in such a pretty area!! Ive never used neg bc my amateur ass finds it less glamorous than just a bunch of lights, but I’ll start for sure.
I love it here! But yes, NEG is IMPORTANT
Suscribed! Great explanation.
Thank you and welcome!!
Amazinnnnnnnnngggggggggggg!
Thank you!!!!
Neg is so so important! I even had somebody who was wearing a black shirt double as neg fill once 😂
We have ALL done it
Loving your channel.
Also glad my name isn’t Phil now.

Great tips 🔥
Thank you!
Your color grading is out of this world Bro 😎
LEE! Thank you so much
@@BradyBessette you’re welcome 💪🏽
This was the best negative video on UA-cam. 👌
(pun intended)
Ahahaha I love the pessimism in the Most optimistic way
@@BradyBessette I filled that negativity 😆
(pun intended again)
Definitely looks alot better! Any negative fill products you recommend?
Thanks ❣️
Thank YOU
Beautifully described ❤️ Love from india 👍
Thank you and hello
I feel Like his my Teacher becasue his final Words at the end. “Class Dismiss”. ❤😂
Thank you
You are welcome!
great video, altho inside the house the difference was minimal, I can definetly see how I could use one for my videos. my walls are white and bounce too much light so i might try to use a black sheet as negative fill and see how it changes my shots. an suggestion, I would wanna see different ways of using negative fill, you only seem to use from one side of the face but i've seen a photographer using 2 one on each side with a beauty light to create very hollow cheeks on the talent and have a super defined jawline
That’s a really unique use, I wanna give it a try too. Thanks nick
Dude you deserve more subscribers and views
Well let’s make sure you are subbed and That’s one closer to a million :-)
@@BradyBessette yup already a subscriber
Love ittttt
Thanks
negative fill works the best on an overcast day
Super true, I love the result it gives
Dope
Thx!
Great explanation, thanks. How would you approach placing the negative fill for wider shots without being visible in frame? Do you use it mainly for close-ups?
Unfortunately it gets harder, either bigger source of neg or you just have to frame your shot accordingly I’d say
Thanks for showing this! I lately thought a lot about lighting that is as low to no budget as possible for exterior shots and honestly was sceptical that negative fill would do anything in an outdoor scenario, but it obviously does as you have greatly demonstrated. So thanks again for that! How would you see the effectiveness in a totally overcast or even foggy scenario? Would it still have an effect sinse light is so extremely diffused?
Nice 🙏
Thank you!!
Wow! Good idea to use neg outdoor! Looks a lot better with it.
Anyway, quick question, aside from the Black Pro Mist, what other lens filters are you using on your shots?
Just BPM actually!
Neg fill is really useful thing. Lately I've created one from styrofoam my package been wrapped into - just saved it from trashing :). Just painted it black (it's somewhere on my channel ;)).
Honestly that’s so creative I love the DIY
Hey Brady, amazing stuff mate! I’ve been searching for that floppy and the stands but I just can’t find them. Do mind sharing the link where to buy them? Thanks 🙏🏻
I found it on BH photo website! 40" matthews floppy!
Hi Brady! Awsome video!! Thank you! I am wondering where I could buy it and which size, can you help me? Is it foldable? How do you transport it? Thank you very much
Please make a video about how to get a cheap light metering system.
Ok let me work on it, for now, check out my false color video!
Love these insights! I might be totally wrong but what level of Pro Mist are you using for these?
1/4 on the close shot and 1/8 on the wide!
@@BradyBessette awesome! Thanks for the info, and for all the work you’re putting in 🤙🏻
Hi. Which key light are you using in the video. Not sure it was on the list? It has a honeycomb diffuser I think. Thanks.
I subscribed
Welcome!!
What kind of stand are you used for hanging negative fill? Thanks;
May I ask you, that footage you shot on bmpcc4k? Very good. And what lens?
Yes on BMPCC4k! And 18-35 lens and 35mn sigma 1.4
@@BradyBessette cool. Thanks for answering
Whats the background music in the first 1 minute or so. Sounds beautiful.
Oh crap, I forget, I do know I got it from musicbed
Which filter do you use for look smoothly
Black promist!
It looks good outdoors but the first shot actually is pretty contrasty/shadowy enough already without the negative fill. I don't see that much of a difference to put the negative fill at all. Saying that though, I think the first example is a great example of single source lighting!
What is the rig that you use to support H4nPro above your camera? 4:48
It’s literally a mic stand from guitar center! It gets the job done
@@BradyBessette I wasn't talking about the tripod that supports your shotgun, but the thing on top of your camera that has the H4nPro
My h4n was on the ground , maybe that’s the monitor?
Круто )))
Thx!!
Where did you get that negative fill? i wanna buy one.
I guess negative phil is pretty cool 🤭
He’s alright 😂
Could you please let me know what is the background music that is being used in this video?
Mah neg.
I like how it looks and appreciate the video as a reminder for the look. Yet, you did not mention any guiding principles when to use it and when not to do so. And ccertainly, there are situations when it woul dnot be appropriate. So, at the end I found that you explained that it is important because it looks nice, not because there is a specific reason.
Maybe I missed it? Would be nice if there was a bit more detail about that.
Anyway, still a great video!
If you need more contrast neg is helpful , often times where light is very even and you’d like to break it up a bit
☆☆☆☆☆
Thank you!
Loved the Explanation Bro. Well Done. 🙏
Of course! I appreciate that! New video out soon!!
I'm subbed. So I'm ready. Like I said before. I'm subbed for life! 💯🤪
The comparisons look like you’ve adjusted the shot in favor of the negative. Like why is the window getting darker along with your face in the comparison?
I used the same grade, the sun was going in and out of clouds on this day, probably that!

I see you've got some film grain again and I tried to figure out why I can't seem to tell the difference between noise and grain anymore and why I thought the last episode was noisy, appose to grainy, then I noticed, the blacks are clipping. I think that gave me the "noisy" impression. But there's not much you can do about it because it's probably due to UA-cam compressing the living S**T out of it, lol!
Lol I feel that, With digital at least, you seem to see an “ugliness” to noise, and also colored artifacts when more prominent. I know UA-cam compresses like crazy, cause according to my waveforms when coloring, no clipping happened lol so blame UA-cam. None the less, thank you for keeping up with the videos!
Man I love your videos! My favorite thing in the beginning was the serene music playing in the background that's the same in all the episodes. ALSO, the glow in the text of the thumbnails really catches the eye (I tried to copy that with my first ever "No Budget Cinema" video but later I got lazy and just dumped regular text over haha).
Oh yes, and obviously I love the content on the channel! I am looking forward to the project you and Sara are working on!
GRUMPY UNC PHIL
Lol we love it
@@BradyBessette just wanna say thank you btw! I'm getting ready to go into production on a few shorts I'm working on and you have been a hugeeee help on helping me cook up some ideas!!! Cheers

u can have neg fill or fill, there is no such thing as "no fill"... fill or neg fill, no other way...if fill, we discuss contrast, high or low key
You lose a details in your example indoor
Look same

I’m still learning!!! Colored it at 3am last night lol so thank you
