Sweet Potato Harvest, first of 2023

- Hello, and welcome to the garden. In this evening's vlog I am harvesting sweet potatoes a little early with the hope I get them before the voles do. Last year we lost a lot of our harvest to critters that were eating them underground before we harvested. I saw a tunnel that looked like it could lead to trouble for the sweet potatoes. Thank you for watching. We have three more beds to harvest later in the season.
I just cant believe how they have access to just such a large variety of fruits , trees and plants. Feels like they live in paradise. Fresh produce right on their door step , surrounded by nature and enjoyed together in a close knit family and community! All the money in the world cant buy what they have.
We love to grow things, trying to work with nature. Thank you for watching!

Hi, Alicia. I think I may live a bit north of you.....somewhere between Butler and Erie. It was fun watching you dig for sweet potato "treasure". You never know what you're going to find until you break up the dirt. Hope you enjoy your "tators". ☺
Yes, I would say we are country neighbors. We are probably in very similar planting zones. Do you plant sweet potatoes?

Hi there. One of my favorite things in the garden is to watch potato harvesting videos. That is a beautiful sweet potato. The first plant is looking good. Harvesting from the ground is a workout, but it is worth it! That's right; you can the small just as well as the large. Nice harvest. Enjoy and take care

Nice sweet potatoes, try wiggling the potatoes as you pull them out to loosen the soil so they don't break

Mix hot peppers in water sit 24 hours spray around your bed keeps moles out and cats

Will any of the pieces left in the ground come back next year? I was worried that if I didn’t get them all up they would have runners under the ground and spread to parts of the garden I don’t want them in. 🤷♂️
I've never had a sweet potato regrow from one that I missed. Maybe in a place that doesn't get hard freezes like we do in Western Pennsylvania.

Why don't you use your tool to dig? You keep breaking the potatoes
Using a digging tool usually results in stabbing the potatoes.
