You can beat a rip current if you are caught in one. 1. Remain calm and do not panic. 2. Swim at an angle going along the (slightly towards) shoreline. 3. Once you are out of the rip current. Continue to swim at an angle heading toward the shoreline.
Unfortunately this is how Florida is I remember when I was living there I was on Clearwater Beach in the hurricane was about a hundred miles out and people would still be inside the water because of how the waves are I remember the water coming up to my hip on the beach sidewalks and Street after Hurricane I mean the hurricane ever hit Clearwater but it was still awesome to be around when it hit no matter was like 50 to a hundred miles away
Even there are children out there I rather stay in the house than do that bc that's crazy and imagine if there was a waterspout coming up on the beach people will start running.
Rea Lachney it’s not allowed but impossible to patrol 130 miles of beaches. The double red flag means no swimming allowed, but we understand what it really means is if you decide to swim and get into some trouble, no ones coming for you. Same with “mandatory evacuations” if you stay and get into some trouble, you’re on your own.
I'm a Floridian and you are an idiot for even thinking this storm is fake; the death number on this storm simply from the Bahamas alone is going to be enormous and people like you are the ones who end up in that number from idiocy. You are disrespecting everyone who has died to this monster of a hurricane.
@@Zazuban um no, the disrespect comes from the stupid people and fail to heed the warnings that is on the news and don't evacuate or go swimming on the beach or surfing. That is the real disrespect is to the fucktards who do it to themselves, no one else is to blame. Yes there are exceptions of true accident, but over and over most of these deaths could be prevented and for the idiots who say this storm is fake can to surfing in the peak of it and can die.
Thanks for your videos Reed. Outta curiosity - what’s the worst storm you have ever been in? Do you have a video of it on here.. and if so, can you send a link? Thanks. Keep up the good work,.

Absolutely nuts. Ive never seen the ocean and its on my bucket list. After watching this maybe its not that important anymore. Cant believe parents would allow their kids out there. Thats so crazy.
I don't think these have been educated in undercurrent and Riptide the power of the sea and and storm very easily lose your footing and be dragged out to your death especially those little kids who wouldn't know what to do in that kind of situation we don't run the Earth or own the Earth it runs us and definitely owns us when it wants to respect the storm respect the seas and hope everyone one has an amazing day.
You are kidding right??? You honestly that someone who is stupid enough to go swimming in this or lets their kids go has two brain cells to have ANY type of safety training?? And what human with all the training in the world can out swim a riptide? Do yourself a favor and don't comment because stupid comments make you look just as foolish as the people in the video!!
Everyone judging and their comments smfh... We went to Indialantic Beach yesterday and besides the clouds, the water/waves pretty much looked just like this. Sure it was a bit wavey, but it wasn't anything crazy... Maybe 20-30mph gusts... I didn't go in the water but I also didn't see any real danger with the people that were in the water... Biggest wave was maybe 5-6' which I've swam in much larger waves in Sebastian before... This video shows what the conditions were but it doesn't let you experience it for yourself...
Roberto Mezquia Jr yea except there’s a reason the average person doesn’t decide when it’s safe to swim or not. You can’t see rip currents and wav size doesn’t mean the water is safe. It’s like how you can’t just look at the water and think there’s no sharks or jellyfish. There’s a reason why they use a color coded flag system. People are idiots and do what they want, and those who do so while ignoring warnings deserve whatever bad comes to them. Darwin always wins in the end.
Rip currents or none, I'd probably be out there in the ocean with those people trying to boogieboard. I think you would be less likely to get caught in a rip current boogieboarding as opposed to just wading/floating.
stump182 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦♀️ someone doesn’t understand what dangerous swimming conditions are. Good thing you aren’t in charge of the flag system. Have fun getting washed away by rip currents
There is a boy , maybe 7 or 8 years old in the ocean. His parents should be thrown in jail for negligence and harm to a child. If anyone of them were to have trouble in the water there won't be a lifeguard to save them. Even if they were there I doubt they would risk their own lives for someones stupidity.
I'd do the exact same thing. Okay, call me crazy but it can't be as crazy as going to a beach in August with the sun beating down on you and you forget sunscreen. As long as you are mindful to not go too far out then there is no need to worry. Especially with a system that is staying off coast. Not everyone wants to be controlled like a robot just cause a government agency tells you to do something (depending on location).
yes, and you're gonna hear that wind over the next 3 days, I am hoping it does not stall out as it did it Bahamas, that's never happened before a resident of Bahamas had a great interview with CBC Kimberly Mullings explains the situation from her home in Freeport on Grand Bahama.ua-cam.com/video/pLtgVuF3Qac/v-deo.html
