This was one of the tents on my list of upgrading to from my soft shell. In the end though I think the FSR Aspen Lite will be the one I get. Only weighs 110lbs, has more headroom, has more storage inside, comes with a air/memory foam mattress, has built in dimmable LED strip that goes around the entire top of the tent, has heater ports on each side, better material with it being tri-layer on roof and doors.

    Matt,
My Wife & I appreciate yours & Cara’s reviews on products. We have the iKamper Skycamper 2.0 Mini w/ the Anne on my Jeep Gladiator and we Love it. I’ve been looking at wedge style RTT to use on my Wife’s Jeep Wrangler.
I feel iKamper missed the mark by skipping LED lighting and not going with their signature World Map fabric on the inside. I’m looking forward to see how it holds up. Thank you for being upfront with iKamper reaching out to you about reviewing this RTT. I read the negative comment that was uncalled for. If you want to do a side by side comparison let me know and we came meet up on the trail.

3:02 Just to let you know, the GoFastCamper Platform RTT wedge tent is thinner and about 40lbs lighter, although it is about $300 more. I think iKamper missed the mark using composite and still being 175lbs, and also having the struts on the exterior which makes them prone to dust and corrosion. I do really like the iKamper SkyCamp series but I do need roof storage

Love the plug on top. Any plug on the bottom part so I can run wires into the tent from the bottom?
I thought you got a 270 awning. Can the tent hold that weight on the lower t tracks?
    Is it blackout tent material?

I like the idea of the Roam Desperado RTT where the foot box opens a bit as well as the main lift. That way your feet have room as well and you don't lose a foot or so due to the wedge design as you found out. ( I believe the 23zero new Kabari update has the same footbox idea)

Great review! I recently bout one second hand. There are very few things I can say that are negative. It is a fantastic option! 3 things I would do to modify it. The crossbars are easily stripped because the screws screw into a flimsy molded aluminum thread at the bottom. If you build it yourself, be easy on tightening them. The composite shell doesn't match well at the top to the bottom. I'm thinking about installing two additional buckles in the middle to keep it tought. The composite roof is open to the elements. If you've been to Colorado durring a bad hail storm, this is not going to fair well. Im thinking an aluminum plate would be a good addition. Other than that. This is a great tent. It's lightweight, easy to setup, and affordable for the Ikamper quality you get. Thanks again for the review!

      1) No one is forcing you to buy it.
      2) It’s great info for those who are looking.

First of all, if you’re going to go there, then someone could say a teardrop trailer is cheaper than full sized RV ass clown 🤡

I will agree with you on the extra purchase for an inflatable sleep pad. That is a game changer and a necessity, in a rrt or a ground tent. Hands down my xped megamat duo LW comes on every basecamp trip. Out in the back country I take a thermarest xtherm for packability, but its nothing like the xped mat.
I am highly disappointed with the amount of upstairs storage pockets. I know you mentioned the shoe bag that likely hangs on the t tracks somewhere, but I would want better storage up in the tent at that price point, this tent is 5k here in Canada. Other premium tent companies are including dimmable lights, shoe bags and much more storage at these price points, actually a touch cheaper. Ikamper seems to be lagging in that department still. Im in the market for a rtt, but Im trying to figure why I would consider ikamper at that price over some of the other tents I have in mind, which are not cheap or terribly manufactured as well.

A grommet on the exterior portion of the roof to run wires? There’s a water leak waiting to happen.

If you paid attention to how the tent was made you’d know that’s not correct. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Please enlighten me. I guess I only paid attention to you saying there was a grommet on the roof which you pointed out that is for running wires through the bottom up through the top of the tent I am thinking that it would be through the inside to charge your power bank. You’re the one doing the review, maybe you should explain it better before telling your viewers to pay attention! What is it that I’m missing?

Why is this tent half the price of their skycamp 3.0.

It's a much simpler tent than the skycamp to construct and when open it's the same size as the mini, not the full size skycamp.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures thanks. It looks huge. Looks like it will take up the entire top surface of my wrangler.

As I stated it was a concern of mine too that has not been an issue at all. It's ok to be wrong. LOL
