God this movie was good, Tom Cruise did this and Oblivion so close together, both were excellent.

Also, he's cool with a little self-deprecating humor, mocking himself. Like how Ben Stiller used to do a satire of his Mission Impossible character and Cruise liked it so much he appeared with Stiller on MTV movie awards.
And his character in Tropical Thunder. That was funny until all that mess with Harvey Fat and Horribly Ugly Monster Weinstein came out, and you realize that the character Crusie plays in TT isn't just a cutthroat producer, he's a flattering satire of industrial rapists.
I am NOT woke not an SJW, but Just saying if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Maybe he was just ignorant of that kinda shit and maybe it was just funny for laughs. And I'm reading too far into it. For all his faults, I don't think Cruise would knowingly defend or support someone like weinstein so ignore what i said i guess. He's just an actor that likes running on screen. 40 yrs of good films (and a few bad ones).
I also really like Reacher. Even tho the character is like 6'4"
It's amazing that someone that's like 5'-6" can hide that fact so convincingly in so many films.
Yah and the ending was paired so well with the music too. Great ending.

I kind of preferred the original ending twist, where both of them were living the same loop but after they killed the final alien one of them had to die to break the loop fully. Still a much better film adaptation than I expected, mind.
nop, i read the manga way before the movie... original ending was kinda sad and sometimes people deserve and ending that gives them hope

i watched this movie years ago back in 2017, it was so good i watched it again like 5 times, then this video came out , hidden gem
The one thing that bothers me about the movie, is the fact that she does not just kill him, after finding out how to get the device from the general or getting the info from it. All the times befor that, when they got stuck, she just pluggs him, but the one time they figure it out, it ends with him losing the looping ability.
But i guess you need some kind of tension for the finale :D

they always tried to go as far as they could before getting detained, so they could weigh their options carefully. It was very boring and time consuming to relive each day up until that point. She probably would have killed him, but she passed out in the car crash with the mech.
they have to push as far as they can go. she surely shot him thousands of times before they were able to get the device. if I remember correctly, that was the first time they successfully got the device, so they don't really know what happens.

But everything hinges on the info they get from the device and it should have been pre planned what to do one they have the info, with a few courses of action depending on circumstances.
Friendly environment: keep going.
Hostile environment: The moment you have the info you want, reset and keep going from there. Why risk it in the most crucial moment?
I feel like experienced soldiers as they were by that point would have thought through that before going in and doing it.
But again, i get it. Tension for the story arc.
Excellent flick, can easily watch multiple times and get something new you missed

I have watched this movie twice and skipped through small parts of it on a third viewing. I thought it was a really good movie.
So when he grows old and dies of old age he wakes back up a day before he dies, and he ends up in a endless loop of dying of old age

no, that was the final reset. the omega tried to save itself by resetting one last time but it still ended up dead in the reset. no omega = no reset.

I know i read a manga with the same concept but the difference was the MC had to survive instead of the other super soldier to end the loop cause the enemy alien army also had someone stuck on a loop who was trying to kill both the loopers

I think the reason they changed the ending of movie from manga was cause they wanted to make a sequel but sadly the film was not as successful as expected for which i blame the marketing.
It is based on the original novel, the manga is another adaptation.

This is one of those movies where you have to shut your brain off and ignore the rules of time travel.
actualy the director of the movie took extreme care to make everything perfect to the point where he made the aliens so non animal like it didnt make sence so he had to add eyes and a mouth, the time travel part is correct and somewhat mimics ground hog day its sad to see that this movie ended up not making that much money it was really good.

The general literally had the next 10 minutes of his day told to him 100% correctly in excruciating detail and still decided to try and arrest the dude that just told him. Highly doubt they care about rules in the universe this movie took place in.
