This thing looks absolutely insane, and really considered. It was clearly designed by someone who is both a guitar player and an engineer. Kevin Suhr seems like a cool dude with a deep passion for what he does. It's hard to see how the Suhr Discovery won't join the ranks of all time great delay pedals.
Only just discovered this pedal. I am actually inclined to agree - this is the best analog delay pedal ever. Finally a bucket brigade delay with all the modern features I want. Just need an analog chorus / vibrato with all the same midi/tap tempo features I need!!
Loved every second of Kevin's interview. it was amazing to hear the creator describe what he was thinking in designing the Discovery. Agree with Uncle BEN, this is a MUST HAVE!!! Great job PT as always!
I don’t normally do this but I was SOLD after the first few seconds you played it Pete. Cheers to Kevin, this is probably the best sounding delay I have heard a demo of, incredible rich high fi analog tone and super cool design!
You got right to it. The way the expression pedal controls the changes in bpm sounds really cool and the readout sells it. Subdivisions are easy. Nicely done.
This is probably best musical and extra-musical demo I've ever watched. Fantastic work, Pete. I think I have to agree with you, this is the best of it's kind.
What is most impressive about all this is Kevin. I love watching someone tap into his or her genius with purpose and focus. I am more interested in how he did it all than how great the pedal actually is, and it is amazing. 🤘🏼
This absolutely an amazing analog delay. I had basically written off analog delays because they often sound good in one place but not in others. To my ears. This one converted me. You CAN have it all. I also want to say that band students should understand what was said in the interview about finding octaves by halfing/doubling the repeat speed because I covered in depth how pitch, frequency, and time work in music. But... remote learning is not what teachers had hoped it would be...
This is definitely my next pedal. It's a little pricey, but I think it's worth it. I just love delay, and particularly analog and/or tape delays. This just sounds incredible.
When I asked a guy involved with Reason/Propellerheads (Ernst Nathorst Böös) why their software was SO intuitive, he told me he read a book called "The Design of Everyday Things" which taught him how to make things easy to understand. This delay pedal is AMAZING in this respect! Apart from sounding wonderful, it's the beautifully thought-through touches (like the dots to help set your expression pedal) which are simply genius. Kevin Suhr, I'm convinced, will be "one of those guys to watch" as he brings more to the world. Great demo too Pete!
Congrats @SirKevin27, what a COOL delay! My order is.... back-ordered, so you and the Suhr crew please get busy ; ) Great to hear Kevin's story and design analysis, excellent geek stuff
Pete!!! I've never seen you smile like you do listening to long repeats on this pedal! Clickbait, if you wanna see Pete truly excited about something! Lol. Great demo, great pedal. Thank you.
Pete - I always enjoy your informative videos, but you cost me some money today. After watching your video, I ordered the Suhr Discovery. I've had Analog delay in the past, but this one sound great and has features that were missing in the others. Thanks again for your review of the Suhr Discovery!!!!!!! :) Can't wait to get it!!!! Joe
Kevin & Pete Many thanks for getting back to me with the thorough explanation I’ll just stop being my usual pain in the ass and buy it Peace brothers, it’s super cool, to say the least
One of the most diverse true analog delay pedals to hit the market. The delay time control flexibility is unbelievable, along with countless other cool features mentioned. Plus 127 Presets, midi controller too? Mind blowing what some great companies are doing in the "guitar effects world" these days. Great interview with Kevin Suhr too.
Good interview. Yes, everything is a trade off. Balancing noise floor with filtering with tonal degradation. I have an old Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memoryman pedal that severely alters the tone when engaged. It's cool in that it adds it's own dimension but if you don't like that lo-fi warm rounded off tone then it is useless. When I use it it is 'always on' or never on.
Mr, Thorn, I have been watching an inordinate amount of guitar effects videos from You, Brett Kingman, That Pedal Show (Dan & Mick, where would we be without them? LOL!), JHS Pedal (Josh? Hysterical!) VertexEffects Channel and I get so much from all of them. I gotta say, "The Buzz" that I get from your Videos is truly the most Inspiring. And, I apologize for turning it on, but, Man, you got it going on.
What a fantastic job Kevin did with this pedal. Chip off the ole block, huh? Pete really showcases this nicely. Soooo much vibe and mood with this! Not very many people use wet dry wet setups anymore, so stereo shouldn’t even be missed. I keep coming back to this video. The opening tune is so fantastic, Pete. Maybe an ambient reverb will be next for Kevin? hahaha
Pete, when you said "What were you basing that on, etc" I'm sure you could be in The Hollywood Movies!!!!!!!! Sounded like a character from Goodfellows!! Haha!
Great video. The pedal seems pretty darn awesome. But it sure isn't cheap. I am amazed that John Suhr's son is so knowledgeable So cool for the family business moving forward.
Oh great, I’ve bought 2 Suhr guitars since watching you, 👍 (one with Thornbuckers), now this awesome gadget. I’ve been buying guitars since the 70’s, but I find I’m using less and less processing every year. Quality guitars into quality small amps. But this delay looks like fun. Started out with an old Echoplex tape unit. (Read: “old guy”)
That thing sounds absolutely amazing! Though I personally would have no use for many of the features in there, I absolutely get it and love the dedication and attention to detail that Kevin put into it. The price is absolutely warranted and I really want one… or rather, I really want two! As a nit-picky bastard (that runs a stereo setup) I really wish it could send a tap from the delay line to a seperate output, allowing me to do the pingpong stuff that I really enjoy. Currently, I run two Maxon AD9Pros through a mixer to get there (clumsy, but sounds great) had I been able to do that with the Suhr I would have my order in the books… but picking up two to do what I want is simply too rich for my blood. Don’t get me wrong, this is absolutely no knock on what Kevin has achieved, it just tells you what an idiot I am for still loving my massively impractical stereo setup. I wish Kevin and John great success with this product and can’t wait for what comes next!
Holy crap that thing is a beast… And a bit pricey I might add… I might have to go back to my teenager side job of mowing grass! Totally tweaked my interest thanks Pete I love it how you help me spend money
Yeah, yeah, yeah... of course... the pedal sounds great, but Pete... I almost spewed my coffee all over my monitor. Where the heck has your sense of humor been all these years!?!? We need more of that in your reviews. Pure comedic genius.🤣
I knew you were serious about this pedal when you did your Mr.Peabody meets Don Vito Corleone impersonation!! Very Oscar worthy!…..and an awesome pedal and review, Thanks again Pete!
I like your playing Pete and more often than not your opinions are really sound. I watched this video immediately after watching the one you did in 2019 with 5 analog delays provided by Sweetwater. I can't argue that the Suhr is one of the most feature loaded delays available, but I found the tone of both the EH Memory Man and the Way Huge Aqua Puss you demoed in 2019 to be more pleasing to my ears. That said, I'm heavily leaning towards the Jam Pedals Delay Llama for my next analog delay, which I think is superior to all of them.
i wasn't aware which video was playing as my back was turned to the screen.....'Why does that DMM sound so good" lol. sounds absolutely amazing. hopefully a smaller less featured and lessor pricetag for lessor mortals
Wow! Great pedal and what a great guy! He doesn’t look like a Kevin though? When you first said it I was like, does John have a brother? He looks like a Josh! (Apologies to the Suhr family. Massive fan of your work).
Wow! Unbelievable transparency and separation, regardless of the medium. I mean, it takes me back to the first time I heard the first Lexicon PCM 81, in terms of the impression it made. Am I being delusional?
You're killing me Pete,...UGH! Good lord that pedal sounds amazing, and the ability to set it to a precise BPM,...so good.,.....I MUST HAVE IT. Well,...eventually anyway.
Somewhere in the world, The Edge felt a twitch and had to log online to check this out
This thing looks absolutely insane, and really considered. It was clearly designed by someone who is both a guitar player and an engineer. Kevin stepping up with his absolute BRILLIANCE of electronics. Suhr, what an absolutely amazing family in the guitar/gear world!!!
Incredible for sure!
Where is the “HELL YES!” button? Thanks to Pete and Kevin. Not sure I’ve ever seen Pete have this much fun…
It’s next to the fuck yeah button !
Only just discovered this pedal. I am actually inclined to agree - this is the best analog delay pedal ever. Finally a bucket brigade delay with all the modern features I want.

Such a brilliant design and fantastic sounds. Great demo Pete!

Thx for changing the start page, Pete! So one can at one glance see the latest video updates.
Such a great Interview with Kevin, so well explained.
Hey Pete, love your show, thanks for all you do!!🤘
Oh my God. This thing is outta this world. I can't imagine how much pain and suffering went into creating this. Well done, Kevin!
Haven’t even watched the video yet and you already made me want one. That thing ticks all the boxes.. love those tones!
The blue strat and new haircut are perfect accompaniments to this pedal. (Love blue strats!!!!!!)
I love your music much more than all the years you show!
Furious!merci pour la présentation Pete...good one as you're endorsed by Suhr!😉
What a great demo and interview, thanks! Fascinating and exciting.
It looks like it controls the Flux capacitor... so sweet. Killer guitar tones to compliment! Nicely done!

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN thats is awesome absolutely loving that, and what you did with it.
This is definitely my next pedal. It's a little pricey, but I think it's worth it. I just love delay, and particularly analog and/or tape delays. This just sounds incredible.
Awesome!!! I can’t wait to try it Pete!!
Intro sounds like a phenomenal movie sound track. Wonderful!
Just got one from cosmo music. Best surprise for Canada Day :)

Great to hear Kevin's story and design analysis, excellent geek stuff
Working on them now! Thanks for the support!
Wait a minute Doc, are you telling me you built a delay pedal... out of a DeLorean?!
HA! Seriously awesome comment
I want one, but not sure my power supply can put out 1.21 gigawatts...
GREAT SCOTT!!!
Pete!!! I've never seen you smile like you do listening to long repeats on this pedal! Clickbait, if you wanna see Pete truly excited about something! Lol. Great demo, great pedal. Thank you.

Thank you Pete, you make always the best content! Love the warm tone
thanks!
Kevin & Pete
Many thanks for getting back to me with the thorough explanation

Great work Kevin!
Waou! Amazing! Great video, great interview and great pedal! Very well think pedal!
Brilliant creation Kevin
Great video, as always, Pete! I'm still using a TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay. Haven't found anything to replace it yet. This just might do it!
This is going to be the 2021 equivalent of the Chase Bliss PREAMP MKII/CXM 1978 in the pedal world. An uber cool retro-futuristic monster.
Incredible! sounds so bloody good, I can’t believe it!
This unit looks so retro: the knobs, chassis, labeling, the LED display… & man, the sounds are other worldly!
Awesomely, awesome sound pedal!! Great demo
Awesome sounding Guitar too
Great song! My favorite from your videos in recent memory.
Thanks!
Incredulous Truman Capote improv was dead on. You're a hoot dude, laughed my ass off. And yeah, that delay pedal's fantastic for sure...
Mr, Thorn, I have been watching an inordinate amount of guitar effects videos from You, Brett Kingman, That Pedal Show (Dan & Mick, where would we be without them? LOL!), JHS Pedal (Josh? Your “nerd” schtick is golden.
Loved the interview!

Great video. The pedal seems pretty darn awesome. But it sure isn't cheap. I am amazed that John Suhr's son is so knowledgeable So cool for the family business moving forward.
Pete's proud glee when he shows the extra long delay times at the end is awesome.
Have all the gear I need. Here for the great playing, audio and video production. 📹
Looking forward to this!
Very cool video, as always!
On a wait list for a Chase Bliss Delay pedal. Super tempted by this.
SOUNDS MEGA, Really Natural , Warm and Articulate at £549 it’s a bit steep but you get what you pay for..Great Demo Music Pete as always 👍🏻🌞⭐️🌞⭐️👍🏻

Well, 1 more I gotta have! Kevin is awesome, pedal sounds amazing!!
Oh yeah man, Kevin really developed a masterpiece. I'm looking forward to adding it to the arsenal.

That thing is just unreal. So many amazing delays available it takes a big deal for one to stand out from the pack like this one does.
What’s my weakness? Analog Delay!!!! Great video!
That sounds like so much fun
Holy crap that thing is a beast… And a bit pricey I might add… I might have to go back to my teenager side job of mowing grass! Totally tweaked my interest thanks Pete I love it how you help me spend money

LOL!!!! RIGHT!!!!
very interesting delay machine!!
Shur sounds amazing

nice work as usual
Ooooooofff! Not only has it everything I was looking for, it also looks STELLAR!!!!
Bought this on pre-order a while ago - just got news it shipping today 😎
Having the dry at the same volume and tone is great.
If Pete says this is the best analogue pedal ever made, I believe him. Nice!
My TC Flashback is sat in the corner feeling sorry for itself 😞
I need to own this. Damn you, Suhr.
Super cool ! Iam getting one !
This pedal is something very special that a lot of analog purists will love…. I am sold.
Well, I absolutely have to have one. Yup.
I wonder if they'll let you have one for step-dad price?
Your IG post brought me here and now you're here. Dammit Ben!
What kind of name is Ben Eller? Stop trolling. Fyi, you look like speed freak metal head. :)
we know how you love your Shur's
i wasn't aware which video was playing as my back was turned to the screen.....'Why does that DMM sound so good" lol. sounds absolutely amazing. hopefully a smaller less featured and lessor pricetag for lessor mortals
I think I would love this on an old keyboard too
This is amazing!!
Hey Pete, another amazing demo - You should team up with Kevin to make a Pete Thorn - Kevin Suhr collaboration pedal.
I'm pre-ordering it. Thanks!
Great delay but a great demo track, too, Mr. Thorn!
Oh! that really sound awesome! i hope Chords of Orion can also demo one as well
IAM so curious to know how it would sound in ambient guitar setting
Got to admit. It does sound pretty damn good. It looks like Kevin is smart like his dad.
Damn you Pete, another piece of kit added to my GAS list! ((:
Wow! Great pedal and what a great guy! He doesn’t look like a Kevin though? When you first said it I was like, does John have a brother? He looks like a Josh! (Apologies to the Suhr family. Massive fan of your work).
The synth world also will love this box 7:00
Stop. Spending. My. Money. 🤣🤣🤣 Awesome video! Love the song at the beginning!!
well, I tend to expect shoddy guitaring with presenting pedals and amps, wow.... you guys are cool
Wow! Unbelievable transparency and separation, regardless of the medium. I mean, it takes me back to the first time I heard the first Lexicon PCM 81, in terms of the impression it made. Am I being delusional?
my two faves arent even analog. digitech time bender and the one currently on my board the trex repilca. good review
You're killing me Pete,...UGH! Good lord that pedal sounds amazing, and the ability to set it to a precise BPM,...so good.,.....I MUST HAVE IT. Well,...eventually anyway.
Damn. I'd already decided on a DMM 1100-TT. I _really_ want to test drive one of these.
KILLER intro tune!!!
