What a sweet project! Dammm, I'm excited and it's not even in my garage. Working a few WW2 era projects myself. When I think of these machines working through those times while we fought for our lives,......... well, they deserve the time, work and appreciation. Just some thoughts.
You mentioned looking for a tape measure. Then I noticed one in the right fore shot. Figures it would be near by. Great videos! Have been learning a lot. Thank you
@@tsmartin I was noticing that too! One of my EDC items is a Zippo 6' tape measure that was an "employee gimme" from years ago. They had them made with the company logo. I have two. One new in the box and one that lives in my right front pocket! On a keychain in my left pocket is a tiny Brinkmann flashlight, a tiny Craftsman crescent wrench, a Snap On 1/8" combination wrench (I build R/C toys) and some little multi tool. Be prepared! ;)
Hi Keith, excited to follow your restoration. I am, I guess mid way through a rebuild of my DSG 13 x30 scraping in my ways and trying to get it back to original specs. It is quite a learning curve , but worth it!
Hi Keith. I operated the same model Monarch in Missoula, MT. We called her Octopus because of the four speed and four feed lever adjustments. Her graduations were a bit hard to read but she was a smooth runner. Looking forward to seeing more of Pearl in future videos.
Hi Keith ☺ this will be a great prodject to watch develope, tape measures, pencils, box cutters , all seem to vanish into the depths of a workshop, some never to be seen again, lol. Nice bike by the way, I bet you look forward to getting time and the weather to ride it .Thanks for the video mate, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
Hi Keith, Good to see you making progress in your shop and also having a social life. I agree with you on posture when running any machinery, and just a small height change can make a huge difference. I did a small job on one of my mates lathes, which is basically identical to mine, and my back really suffered, and I am sure it is the height of his lathe is lower than mine. I will do some measurements one day to see exactly. I was watching the beam on your gantry when you started to lift and it didn't move, be interesting to know the weight of Pearl, but Monarch's are not light weights. Fathers' day in Oz is in September, but a happy fathers' day to you. Regards Dennis.
Happy ( belated ) eightieth birthday Pearl, welcome to the internet. May your DC motor drive set reach the thousand mark in the capable hands of our top boat mechanic and shaft straightener . Like the song says, You are the Monarch of the Seas.
I just found out about muriatic acid. It has many applications, the main one is cleaning concrete. You can also clean rust off of metal with it. But you have to be careful and not let any splatter get on to your person and use in well ventilated area.
Olá meu amigo Keith, é sempre uma satisfação em, ver seus trabalhos e estou ansioso pelo começo da reforma do torno!!! Lhe desejo muta saúde e boa sorte!!! Grande abraço da quio do Brasil a todos aí!!!
Hi Keith I think the I beam did move a bit as weight came off. Lathe speeds my harrison L6 in the UK has a 2 speed 3ph motor fitted from new 45 to 2000 rpm Looking forward to the rebuild Steve
Keith, I know what you mean by compression, in my younger days I was 5' 11 & 7/8", now at 79 I'm 5' 9" and maybe a little bit. So I've lost 3" +/-, My knees haven't helped much with their loss of cartilage, don't know if I'll get any back with knee replacement we'll just have to wait and see.
I take it you’ve changed the bike Keith, by the way, your tape was on the Rutland, I did shout before you went off into the welding bay but you obviously didn’t hear me. It’s all looking good.
Just an idea but when machine tools get chipped off paint they don't look very pretty so how about just bare metal with some clear rust proofing painted on ? That's if It's possible and they have the clear paint in stock.
Another Bridgeport mill like 'Buffy' is, but more worn. Was the Bridgeport mill he used in his old shop location for all of his old videos and initially after he moved into his current premises, until he 'Buffy' fully freshened up and assembled.
'Debbie' wasn't as tall as 'Buffy' is, and she didn't have the continuously variable speed adjustment that 'Buffy' has, you had to move the drive belt in the head around to change spindle speeds.
now.....You had to do some fancy editing to cut out the last kid in the choir saying ""AMEN """, at the end of the recital of The Pledge of Allegiance !!!
No just happened to happen, I'll find the original and mix it up again, looking for the right day and lighting to capture the front of the shop and the flag flying just right. work in progress.
Hello Pearl... Love to see the old Monarchs brought back into service... Great machine with, I'm sure, lots of life left in her...
I still love your opening !

Looking well Keith, thanks again for the content and greetings from the NJ Bayshore.
Great video. Nice monarch. Shop looks great. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Keith, looking forward to the resto.

I wonder how many of us was yelling at the screen, "It's right there!!!".
You can never have enough tape measures, no matter how many you do have you can never find one when you need it.

I had the green one or the red one in my mind! They can give you more stick out than the others before going limp! LOL
Funny thing about getting older. I get shorter but the floor gets further away.
If I were to buy a used engine lathe I would look for a monarch. I've run them and they are some of the best lathes I have run.
Hello Keith,
Thanks for introducing Pearl... I look forward to watching you bring her into service...
Take care.
Paul,,
I was telling you tape measure is right here infront of the camera....right here....over here......good video and nice lathe....she is a beauty...
Haha, me too! “It’s here in front of us Keith”
Pearl is a nice addition to the shop, looking forward to the restoration. Take care.
King of the torch and the press and shaft straightening. Really loved the Rutland rebuild, I’m sure this will be great as well.
Getter done.👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥
Those Wonderful children's voices always bring a smile to my face.
She is a beauty! That's going to be one fine lathe, I cant wait to see your work on it!!!
Always a pleasure to watch my good friend Keith. The Flag, The Harley And Keith. Can't Go Wrong, You Bet.

IMO I’d like to see Pearl painted as new, as you did such a great paint job on Buffy and that machine in the foreground of this video.
Yeah, I would too! Although the "Rat Rod" theme has its own appeal ...
That pearl will surely be a gem when done.
I appreciate the non scripted presentation.

Me likee the old iron. That thing will outlive us both when you're done with the rehab!

Looking forward to seeing this series, 👌
Pearl's hang'n pretty with that sweet rigging job.
Cant wait to see your Restoration on this old beauty
I’m really looking forward to the Monarch project! I love my 10ee!
Hi Keith, The tape measure was hiding on the corner of the other lathe in the right of shot.
Andy UK
Exactly what happens to me when I am looking for something, it's only 2 feet away and still can't find it. Tape was on top of the rutland
sweet lathe i am jealous!!
Oh goodness, Debbie is a real peach too! Have to catch up and see where she went.
Too good! you are looking good and things are working .. I'm happy to see this and I enjoy your content. cheers!

Nice show👍
Thanks for sharing 👍
Ya gotta watch where yer deposits go or you'll worry the rest away! Stay young, Keith!
Really looking forward to coming along with you on this new restoration project Keith.
Hey Keith thanks for all you do! Your videos have made me a better machinist! Thank you
You have more nerve then me. I probably wouldn't have said a word until my lathe was back on the ground.
Pearl is beautiful! :)
Debbie will serve a new machinist well.
She has already just been asked for this morning and plans to for her pick up and ride to NH. on Tuesday....
@@KeithFenner Sweet! I hope she'll have a great caretaker like you've been to her!
Keith: Just got back from the Bar-Z. Wish you were there. It wasn't as hot as last year. Thanks for the video. Jon
Great name for that machine. I name All my machines and I name a lot of my tools.
Hello from San Antonio, TEXAS!
Great new work, Keith. You will have hours of fun in your future.
My shop broom plays the disappearing act like your tape measure !
I just found out about muriatic acid. It has many applications, the main one is cleaning concrete. You can also clean rust off of metal with it. But you have to be careful and not let any splatter get on to your person and use in well ventilated area.
And don't get any on your jeans either! That and battery acid will make them disintegrate in seconds!

Nice Keith! Glad to see it under way!
That was really strange how just taking it off the pallet made it look so much smaller.
I have an aunt named Pearl and she is your kind of lady
Can't wait to see that beautiful lady afterwards!
I'll follow with interest.
your gantry has done pretty well if I recall correctly my 12C weighed in around 3300lb without chuck etc
Hola keith te felicito por tu nuevo torno espero q mandes videos de como lo arreglas hermosa maquina saludo amigo
Yea good to see a new YT video hope life isnt kickin yer ass any more👍
good video mr fenner
sound SOUND, SOUND. CAN NOT HEAR YOU??
看起来很有趣,视频做的很好,👍产品很不错
Лайк! Хороший станок.
I had a hard time hearing your audio but I nearly jumped out of my chair every time two pieces of metal touched. Strange audio effects.
Hi Keith , Good
Hi Keith, Glen from New Zealand here. What is the metal thickness of the gantry I beam? Thanks mate.
I take it you’ve changed the bike Keith, by the way, your tape was on the Rutland, I did shout before you went off into the welding bay but you obviously didn’t hear me. It’s all looking good.

Not watched for a while but your looking well, Maybe even younger

⭐🙂👍
What about putting in braces in the corners of the gantry crane?
Great video. What state are you in?
Pearl jam's
The spine might compress a bit, but you look younger and healthier than you did 4-5 years ago.
Are u still doing the what's in your box?
I may be doing something along the same lines, in the near future.
@@KeithFenner cool.
audio problem?

Do all these women get along Keith ?
LOL! Yeppers, they all give me a hall pass, to play with the others...

@@KeithFenner …….thank you kind Sir , I will be able recite along and hear the last missing part sooooon ! Thanks once again for all videos.
Finally got tired of the gear whining Clausing lathe, eh Keith?
Right side audio only, also, your voice sounds staticy. Hurts my ears. Turning down the volume puts it in "too hard to hear" territory.
Pearl is good for scrapyard
You got alot of work to do on this girl. Should be fun, looking forward to watching. Thanks!
