It is important to note that Fanta in europe is very different from fanta in the USA, so you won't get this flavor if you mix it yourself in the US

Fanta in Europe contains actual real orange juice, however the percentage vary among different countries from about 3% to 12%. Fanta in US is toxic sugary liquid

I've never had the chance to try Spezi, but I have tried Fanta from different european countries and i can say that @Skyl3t0n is telling the truth. It varies radically from country to country, even within Europe.
But I have to raise the flag this time, and suggest everyone try the orange Fanta from Spain. You can even see the difference in density in the orange pulp at the bottom of the bottle.
I also liked the one from Greece quite a lot, very sweet

I'd say "Spezi" is one of the most popular non-alcoholic beverages in Germany. It's one of the cases where the name of a certain product from a certain company became used for a whole product range. The beverage's official name (if there is any) is "Cola-Mix", but people usually just order a "Spezi".
If I'm not wrong, the one you're testing in this vid is the original and thus namesake (and also one of the best tasting in my personal opinion). Another favorite of mine would be the "Spezi" from the Paulaner brewery in Munich, who are one of the few other companies who also call their product "Spezi" (there even was a lawsuit against them a couple of years ago).
Coca Cola have their own Spezi, it is named "Mezzo Mix" (but it is a bit too sweet for my taste) and another noteworthy brand would be "Schwipp Schwapp" which belongs to Pepsi.

Germany, with its 84 million inhabitants (equivalent to a quarter of the US market), is a highly competitive market.
So, next time, try Fritz-Kola or Fritz-Limo (different flavors) from Hamburg, or also from Germany, this time from Cologne: Afri-Cola and its Bluna ;-)
Coke or Pepsi is not as dominant in Germany as one might think, there are also Red Bull products from Austria, and the German discounters Aldi/Lidl/Penny/Norma also offer their Cola-Soda products.-

My absolute favourite orange soda is the Danish Tuborg Squash... it tastes like actual orange juice, sweetened just a little bit, to hide the bitter oils. Fanta and Miranda are a tad too artificial for me.
But regarding Cola... Coca-Cola does it best... perhaps not the modern US variety, but European with regular sugar or the Mexican cane sugar ones are difficult to compete with... and the zero sugar ones, like Pepsi Max and Coke Zero... nothing compares.

it's neither cane sugar nor corn syrup, most sugar in germany (and the rest of europe I'd guess) comes from sugar beet roots. You can find cane sugar in super markets etc., but it's more like something "exotic" and more expensive then regular sugar.

That is ultimately why they call it Paulaner Sunset in the US. There is also Krombacher Spezi but with the R. Schwipp Schwapp is disgusting as its get.

Spezi is just a mix of Cola and Orange Soda. It is a german drink, but especially popular in Bavaria where the company is from. Growing up in Munich, I'm used to ask for Spezi when i ask for a Cola/Orange Mix (since there are other mixed Sodas like that, for example Coca-Cola's MezzoMix). The brand name is synonymous with Cola/Orange Soda in Bavaria. The name itself is also a bavarian term, in our dialect it basically means "friend" ;) Very, very popular. If you go to a beergarden and don't want to drink alcohol or beer, you'll most likely drink a Spezi (or Apfelschorle, a mix of sparkling water and apple juice).

It's a non-alcoholic beer + juice combo that REALLY hits just right on hot summer days when you gotta drive, and unlikr other "nonalcoholic" beers that still have trace amounds of booze in them, this is actually 0.0% alcohol content. People sometimes call it "the bicycle beer" here because you can drink as much as you want and still ride a bike just fine without any issues with your ballance. I think that you would like it.

I have to add, lately you will find bottle and can sizes like 0.25 l more and more. and then there is the infamous 0.15 l can served on aircraft.
0.33 is the classic size for soda cans or small beer bottles. large cans, or "regular" beer bottles (this might cause some discussion) is 0.5 l.
when a deposit was put on cans first a lot of canned products suddenly came in bottles as well, today usually both is available.
Also it seems you missed, some more "traditional" sizes.
for bottles, the traditional crated bottle was 0.7 l, sometimes 1 l. That being the traditional crates with glass bottles everyone bought before PET bottles became a thing and we used to buy water and beverages in crates, instead of sixpacks (or carbonating our tap water)... somehow I feel old now.
Noteworthy about those crates is, that there is kind of an association of springs and beverage brands "Brau und Brunnen" which at some point standardized those glass bottles and crate sizes, lso individual ones could be found. those had been the 0.7 l ones, or today the 0.75 l plastic ones.
Coca Cola somehow always had their own standardized system of bottles and crates. With beer bottles and crates, there have been a few standardized ones, but otherwise breweries had quite individual bottles and crates, although by size those were mostly compatible, just different coloured crates and logos, and the uniquely shaped bottles still around the same size.
With PET those 0.7 l somehow mutated to 0.75 l for bottles sold still in crates.
With PET bottles 1.5 l, and later 2 l and 1.25 l arose. all sold loose or in six packs.
Oh and as you mentioned milk, a typical bottle or carton is 1 l, i know there are smaller packs (we had those at school some 30+ years ago) but I cannot remember which size they were. Something like flavoured milk or milk shakes usually came in 0.5 l or 500 ml units, until they presented us as a great thing that the prize stayed stable while size dropped to 400 ml...
Worth mentioning, as in the US, dairy products still is the only thing sold in actual imperial units. everything else is mililiters today.

I have never seen Spezi in England but I want to find it after your glowing review!
I hope you get to try Sanpellegrino Blood Orange which is my fave by them😅.

Back in the 80s Spezi was a mixture from Coca Cola and Fanta you only got at Restaurants or you buy both and mix it at home. As a child it was always the prefered drink when you eat outside.

Spezi is just shortened "Spezial" which directly translate to "special". Such a special drink! :-D

I think you are confusing something here. The bavarian dialekt word for a good friend is "Spezl". Spezi stands for "Spezialmischung".

If you are able to get a hold on it in the future: Krombacher Fassbrause Cola+Orange. I highly recommend this! 😊When i was a little kid in the 80´s and i was with my parents at a restaurant all the lemonades (like Coke and Fanta) came from barrels and this gave them a unique taste. Krombacher (yes, the Beer-Company) recreated this taste and it is sold here in germany in 6-packs with 0,33l glasbottles. Maybe it´s just me because of happy childhood memories, but i think it really tastes different and is at least in my opinion the best so far.

Corn syrup isn't really a thing here in Germany (and I would suspect most of Europe), we use cane sugar. I've never even heard of corn syrup until my US friends complained about it being everywhere in the US. Even though I hardly drink cola at all I could immediately taste the difference when I was in the US visiting a friend. Instantly went back to soda.

Spezi originates in Augsburg, Bavaria. It first came out in 1956, but at that time it was a Beer. In 1965 they made a alcohol free version named KM (Kola-Misch - "cola-mix") and since then its an bavarian classic almost everyone likes alot. Paulaner made their own Version of it later..and better imo. Maybe u are able to find that as well, as someone said it might be called Paulaner Sunset in the US

I'm from the Netherlands (so near Germany, it's like a 1,5 hour drive) and I have never seen this cola and never heard of it. We do have all sorts of cola with different flavors, for example cola vanilla, cola cherry, cola lemon, cola orange vanilla, hmm and some other can't remember what it was. It was a cola that doesn't have a color, it looks like water and it's nice. Haven't had it for over 20 years , but I can remember it was very nice.

If you get "Almdudler" from Austria ("national drink of Austria"), be sure to try it. Its popularity in Austria is second only to Coca-Cola. For me Almdudler has the best and unique flavour of all softdrinks.

Funny the Spezi mix reminds me of another mix, in Italy when we first went out to a discoteque, many moons ago. We used to have a drink which was a mix of Coca Cola, Orangina, brown Rum and a bit of Amaretto . At the time we sure loved it, no idea if we would still like it today though ..

I like the brand of Spezi you got there. It's like the "original" Spezi, but almost every bigger brewery in germany makes its own "Spezi". My favourite by far is the Paulaner Spezi. If you have the chance to get your hands on one of those, i highly recommend. Glad you liked it, its one of the few things i have missed when i went to the US for visits. Not as much as the bread, but close xD
