I grew up and still love close by to this dam, fished it since I was little and still do every now and then, around 9 years ago it was pretty much a big puddle in a very critical condition and fortunately got the drink it needed and hung in there, gets flogged quite often but after a good year of rain it bounces back. It's good to see you put them back as I hope others do, the local redfin dams are very important to the kids around here.
As soon as i finished watching this, the yabby nets went straight in the dam. Im off for a feed of red fin first thing in the morning. Thanks for the inspiration Rohan.
@@RKJFishing I must be fair, I do t mind fishing freezing temperatures or driving rain but wind does my head in. You can never cast where you want and often end up up a tree or over something
Nah mate for trout and redfin fishing I just use straight mono all the way to the lure. I only use braid when lure fishing for cod and yellas, and even then I just tie it straight to the lure. I'm too lazy to use a leader lol
I swear reddies have just been getting larger in general since I started fishing as a young fella with my dad. Was out at Hume yesterday with my cousin and we were busting donkeys to the point of filling our eski for a feed for the whole family within about an hour and a half😅
That's not a donkey that's a horse of a reddie. How bloody good is this your oj fire with the videos keep it up im bloody enjoying it. Here's a tip Murchison is on fire as well with yellow belly cant put the rod down at all. The Basin as well thats on fire only Small reddies but gees they are going well

Remember mate historically length doesn't count.. it's the weight of the fish that counts.. But I guess youll never get on the board because you don't weigh your fish..
Thanks Xavier. All the main rivers in this area are great for yellowbelly, but they have been dirty for quite a while now. They should fish well once it clears up. Other than that, the main eastern channel near Shepparton is meant to be good

Depending whereabouts you're located you'll find redfin in most of the major lakes and dams around Victoria. Hume, Eildon, Eppalock. And thanks to the recent flooding across a lot of the state they've been showing up occasionally in rivers below dam walls(I caught a 35cm mid September while fishing for Yellowbelly on the Murray just below Hume)
