Different region different rekado. I grew up in Pangasinan. And they put bagoong and or alamang when being cooked. It replaces the fish sauce. I put vinegar sometimes when it is cooked. Rice, munggo then get a spoon of vinegar and eat. Haha

I always saute munggo (earlier boiled like rice) with garlic, onion and tomato 🍅 and pork lard.!! It comes also with any deep fried fish to dip in vinegar with a mixture of wringed hot 🥵 peppers!! You could switch to pork chicharon if fish is not available with the same sauce!!! Without the two above to combine, you could mix the munggo with any form of sour tamaraind to taste and this will be alright as well!! Happy and delicious eating!!

My grandmother cooks munggo with bagoong... so it's not weird.
