I'm glad you got the info straightened around, and that you've been digging even deeper into the rabbit hole already, as well. It's always exciting to see someone new start discovering what Dan does, and now I'm looking forward to more of your reactions even more strongly than before! Dan can certainly gain people's attention in a hurry. My husband has not been a metal lover, in particular. When I got him to listen to Dan singing "Amazing Grace," right after I heard it for the first time, he wasn't going to listen, but I was able to persuade him to do so, and he got hooked immediately. Since then, he has added a BUNCH of Dan's music to his regular playlist on his phone. When it comes on, he turns the volume up, because he knows I'll hear it, and head into the other room where he is, and say, "You called?" Then we listen together again. He also told me a couple of weeks ago, that when he goes into town to do his weekly maintenance work at our church, he puts his phone up in the front of the sanctuary, where the acoustics are the best, and turns his phone on quite loudly. Several times, people in other parts of the building, have gone into the sanctuary to find out what music was playing, and then THEY get hooked on Dan's voice and techniques, also. What fun! 😀 So...now...I'll listen to THIS reaction. I'm SURE you will love Dan's version a TON! Since you obviously do some really good research, you might want to do some digging and check out the story of why Amy Lee wrote it, and that makes hearing Dan's version feel even more strong. (Comment #2) WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL reaction. I can hardly wait for more Dan reactions, and as I have time, I'll be watching your other reactions as well. I share that love of music with you. It's what I have done all my life since I was tiny (two years old, from most of my memories, but some of my memories would have to have been younger than that, even). My whole family has been musical, for generations back, and all I ever wanted to do was sing (or play my trumpet, or my piano, or my accordion, or my guitar...etc.). I had WANTED to be a drummer when I got into high school band, but my best friend got the final drum opening, so my next best pick was trumpet. I played my silver cornet (my choice over the sound of the trumpet) for many years afterward, as well, until my ex-husband sold it (outright) to a local pawn shop where we lived up in Alaska. I couldn't get it back. I now have a silver trumpet that I was playing all the time for over a year, until the "crud" hit the family at the end of 2022, and I couldn't play for a while. I only recently picked it up again, and am working on getting my lip back (at age 74). After hearing Dan sing Amazing Grace the first time, I've been watching him carefully, and getting back a LOT of my singing range, as well. I used to have just over a six-octave range, and I could SOAR from one area to another. For years, though, rheumatoid arthritis bent me over forward so badly, that I could barely even sing my BASS range, but I never did totally lose that. We have six kids, 22 grandkids, and five great-grandkids, and we live with our youngest daughter, her husband, and their eight kids. Her next-to-oldest boy has a pretty good bass voice, himself, and he thinks it's EXTREMELY funny that his "grandma can sing bass!" I can HIT, but not sustain, Tim Foust's lowest note (A0). Now, both of my hip joints have been replaced (in mid 2017), and I've been working at getting back up into my soprano ranges. By watching and listening closely to Dan, I've been able to regain a LOT of my muscle memory and have defeated the two bad register change blocks that I had been experiencing (going from tenor to alto, and then from alto to soprano). I can now sing Amazing Grace WITH Dan, all the way to the end, except that I can't QUITE hit his highest note...and just WAIT until you hear THAT!!!. Also, you'll be wanting to hear him (all 24 of him) sing ALL of the parts in "The Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah." It's not only extremely wonderful, it's also very funny in some parts. You will LOVE it.

You will love Dan sing I’ll Make a Man out of You from Disney’s Mulan. He also does a lot of songs where he gets emotional. Check out Son of Pain, The Last Goodbye and American Trilogy by Elvis that Dan recorded just days after his father’s funeral. I personally don’t know how he made it through that one. He is absolutely the best singer out there. Loved your reaction!
Great reaction. Yes, the first time I ever heard Dan (last June) I was also immediately hooked. He has much longer screams than this one! You're in for a lot of musical treats. Dan has also suffered with depression in the past. You should check out his cover of "Son of Pain" (which IMHO is about overcoming depression) and also his "Heart of Steel," which is a bit older (seven years, I think) but which he specifically dedicates to those suffering from depression. The intro to Heart of Steel is in Portuguese, so you would want subtitles and translation turned on for that one.

I only recently picked it up again, and am working on getting my lip back (at age 74).
After hearing Dan sing Amazing Grace the first time, I've been watching him carefully, and getting back a LOT of my singing range, as well. I used to have just over a six-octave range, and I could SOAR from one area to another. For years, though, rheumatoid arthritis bent me over forward so badly, that I could barely even sing my BASS range, but I never did totally lose that. We have six kids, 22 grandkids, and five great-grandkids, and we live with our youngest daughter, her husband, and their eight kids. Her next-to-oldest boy has a pretty good bass voice, himself, and he thinks it's EXTREMELY funny that his "grandma can sing bass!" I can HIT, but not sustain, Tim Foust's lowest note (A0).
Now, both of my hip joints have been replaced (in mid 2017), and I've been working at getting back up into my soprano ranges. By watching and listening closely to Dan, I've been able to regain a LOT of my muscle memory and have defeated the two bad register change blocks that I had been experiencing (going from tenor to alto, and then from alto to soprano). I can now sing Amazing Grace WITH Dan, all the way to the end, except that I can't QUITE hit his highest note...and just WAIT until you hear THAT!!!.
Also, you'll be wanting to hear him (all 24 of him) sing ALL of the parts in "The Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah." It's not only extremely wonderful, it's also very funny in some parts. You will LOVE it.
As a friend of Dan's this is an older clip. > He brings it Always.
Another song where Dan shows his ability to hold a note is The Helloween song, I Want Out
Son of Pain was also about losing his dad

You will love Dan sing I’ll Make a Man out of You from Disney’s Mulan. He also does a lot of songs where he gets emotional. Check out Son of Pain, The Last Goodbye and American Trilogy by Elvis that Dan recorded just days after his father’s funeral. I personally don’t know how he made it through that one. He is absolutely the best singer out there.

Great reaction. Yes, the first time I ever heard Dan (last June) I was also immediately hooked. He has much longer screams than this one! You're in for a lot of musical treats. Dan has also suffered with depression in the past. You should check out his cover of "Son of Pain" (which IMHO is about overcoming depression) and also his "Heart of Steel," which is a bit older (seven years, I think) but which he specifically dedicates to those suffering from depression. The intro to Heart of Steel is in Portuguese, so you would want subtitles and translation turned on for that one.
Heart of Steel is one of my favorites of Dan's earlier offerings. It's so wonderful!
