This is one of the best tutorial I have seen about Substance Painter. Well explained. Would love to see one tut from your side on how to texture a real object from start to end, with edge wears, dust, grunge etc. Well done man, you made my day.
Your welcome, and thanks for your kind words, I actually have the beginning to end tutorial in the same series, you can check it out, I hope you will like it.

Thank you for this series. I’ve been using ChatGPT to give me some detailed step by step instructions as I do well with text, but still needed some visuals. You covered that well, so thank you. I will be saving your playlist to use as future reference as I learn my way through this program.

Hi Sir, "May I inquire about the potential impact of AI on the future of 3D Modelling and texturing professions? Could you kindly provide insights into the job security of 3D Modellers in the coming years?" Please provide your valuable information about this.
Hello! I'd be happy to provide insights into the potential impact of AI on the future of 3D modeling and texturing professions, as well as discuss the job security of 3D modelers in the coming years. *1. Automation and AI in 3D Modeling and Texturing:* AI and automation technologies have been making significant strides in various industries, including 3D modeling and texturing. Here's how they are impacting these professions: _- Automated 3D Modeling:_ AI-powered software and tools are becoming more proficient at generating 3D models from 2D images or sketches. These tools can help speed up the initial modeling process for simpler objects, although complex or highly creative designs still often require human intervention. _- Texture Generation:_ AI algorithms can also generate textures or assist in texture creation. They can analyze existing textures and generate new ones based on patterns, styles, and desired parameters. This can be a time-saver for 3D artists. _- Procedural Generation:_ AI can automate the generation of procedural textures and models, which is particularly useful in video games and architectural visualization. This can reduce the manual workload for artists. *2. Enhanced Creativity and Productivity:* AI can be a valuable tool for 3D modelers and texture artists. It can automate repetitive tasks, allowing professionals to focus more on creative aspects of their work. For example, artists can use AI-generated textures as a starting point and then customize them to suit their needs. *3. Job Security for 3D Modelers:* The impact of AI on job security for 3D modelers is a complex issue. While AI can automate certain tasks, it doesn't replace the need for artistic and creative input. Here are some factors to consider: _- Complexity and Creativity:_ Highly creative and complex 3D modeling and texturing tasks are less likely to be fully automated. Artists will still be needed to conceptualize and design unique and intricate elements. _- Quality Assurance:_ AI-generated content may require human oversight to ensure quality. Artists may be responsible for fine-tuning AI-generated models or textures to meet specific project requirements. _- New Opportunities:_ As AI becomes more integrated into the industry, there may be new opportunities for 3D modelers to specialize in AI-assisted workflows or to develop AI tools and solutions themselves. _- Continuous Learning:_ Job security in any field is often tied to the ability to adapt and learn new skills. 3D modelers who keep up with technological advancements, including AI tools, may find themselves in higher demand. In summary, while AI is likely to impact certain aspects of 3D modeling and texturing professions, there will still be a demand for skilled artists and professionals who can bring creativity and human touch to projects. Job security in these fields will depend on adaptability, staying current with technology, and specializing in areas where human expertise is indispensable.
Hi SIr, I am facing a UV stretching issue with my 3D model when transferring it from Maya to Substance Painter. I resolved the problem in Maya by setting "UV Boundary Smoothing" to "Preserve Edges and Corners" in the Attribute Editor under Smooth Mesh > Open Subdiv Control, but the issue reappears in Substance Painter, particularly when applying a wood-like material. Despite exporting with UV information included (using FBX/OBJ format), the stretching persists. Could you advise on the correct export settings from Maya and optimal adjustments in Substance Painter to maintain the UV integrity? Your prompt assistance would be highly appreciated as it is crucial for my current project. Please give me immediate response, need to submit my work. Thank you, awaiting for your reply
The UV stretching issue in Substance Painter likely stems from its smoothing algorithm overriding your Maya settings. To resolve this, disable smoothing in Substance Painter's Texture Set Settings under "Mesh Maps". If that doesn't work, bake a normal map from your high-poly mesh in Maya and import it into Substance Painter, as this will provide accurate details without relying on smoothing. Additionally, slightly adjusting the UV scale in Substance Painter might help if the stretching is minor.
Thank you, very helpful and informative but could you please stop saying "OK".... ok??? It is extremely distracting. Keep up the great work.... thanks again.
In Substance 3D Painter, both smart masks and generators are tools used for creating and manipulating textures, but they serve slightly different purposes: *Smart Mask:* A smart mask is a non-destructive way to apply textures or effects to specific areas of your 3D model. It's similar to layer masks in image editing software like Photoshop. You can use black and white information to define where a texture or effect should be applied. Smart masks allow for precise control over how textures interact with the underlying materials on your 3D model. They are typically used for adding details like dirt, rust, or wear and tear to specific parts of your model. *Generator:* A generator is a procedural texture creation tool. It generates textures algorithmically based on various parameters and rules. Generators are great for creating complex patterns, such as camouflage, procedural wood grain, or marble veins. You can customize the parameters of a generator to achieve the desired look and adjust it in real-time. This makes them versatile for a wide range of texture creation needs. *Should You Use a Smart Mask or a Generator?* The choice between using a smart mask or a generator depends on your specific texturing goals and the effect you want to achieve: *Smart Mask:* Use smart masks when you need precise control over where textures are applied. They are great for adding localized details and wear and tear. *Generator:* Use generators when you want to create procedural textures quickly and want to maintain flexibility. Generators are excellent for creating repetitive patterns and complex textures without having to paint them manually. In many cases, you may use both smart masks and generators in a single project to achieve the desired level of detail and realism. It's essential to understand the strengths of each tool and apply them accordingly based on your project's requirements.
