HOLY CRAP! Good Job!
釣的好👍
I learned so much by watching your channel, and finally caught my first ever keeper fluke in NJ. Thank you!! It looks like you are fishing outgoing tide on this video, so that you are closer to the deeper channel?
Congrats can’t wait for this season
I learned how to fluke fish with a single jig unintentionally and swear by it. Tried teaser rigs on friends rods and boat charters but always switch back to the single. Crushing the fluke out there man, excited to keep up with your channel this summer
I mean it's the default way to jig after all, it shouldn't be a big deal how people fish but in this case so many drank the koolaid it's fun to show what a single jig can do
Thanks! Keep at it.
I've been practicing your technique and starting to get a rhythm to my cadence. I caught my new PB 22 and a half inches today and limited out which I've never done before. You are my sifu. Single jig head catches bigger fish.👊🏽
F yeah!
@@CookingandFishing 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Right on!!
@@shore-moneyfishing1939 I live in va beach and everyone here that I've seen uses the drop knot technique by you know who. Nothing bad with it, it just doesn't catch big fluke. They're baffled when they see me catching quality fluke on a single jig head. They ask how I'm doing it and like you guys I'm always willing to answer any of their questions. The last thing I say is if you want to learn from my sifu🤣, I direct them to your UA-cam channel. And you guys are right practice makes perfect.
@@Yak-life Any method can outfish another on a given day, but over a long term with a large sample size, the single jig is king!
0:01 confirmed: seagull is a john skinner fanboi on the attack 👀 😳
Another great video. You're legit causing a shortage in 6 inch Gulp jerk shad in white and chartreuse!
Lol! Thanks for watching.
Always enjoy running into you lol thanks again for that backpack cooler recommendation and completely agree single jig is king . I love my 5 in grub ... more confident in it
Thanks! I do like the 5” grub a lot. It should work just as well when the fluke are on the feed.
@@shore-moneyfishing1939 So I have been trying this method out and I must say my experience is so far is the 6" really seems to outperform the 5". There is a substantial difference in the size of them and my best guess is that the 6" seems to get more of a 'reaction strike' because of the sheer size. With that said have you tried the 7" Gulp jerkshad at all?
@@vlcheish I have tried the 7" JS but like with your experience, the 6" seems to be the sweet-spot.
Caught my first 4 flukes today using a 3/8 oz jig head and a 6" jerk shad. Leader tied to braid using the crazy Alberto, and a kreighs loop to the jig. Thanks to you and your cousin for the tips! Keep the videos coming. I would buy you guys beers if I could. Cheers! #shoremoney
Awesome! I always welcome a free beer haha.
👍🏽 Nice. I don’t have that kind of luck when I’m casting for fluke. I usually catch two or three every time I go casting along the beach.
Luck has very little to do with it - get the appropriate tackle, learn the technique, and you'll be seeing limits from shore.
Not a teaser guy. Find that using single jigs produce better quality fish hands down
It's not even close lol
Yeah bud. Keep it up Marc!! You making a name out there on the surf, been hearing it man. Awesome job!!
Thanks Curtis! I also heard those jerkshads are running low.
@@shore-moneyfishing1939 yes sir they are. You need a sponsor bud. Hey, bass assassin works well too with procure. Your input works very well.
No one catches em from shore like shoremoney! Mastery in the single jig
SHIFU!
It's a very beautiful sea✨✨ Nice fish! Nice, flounder😊😊😊
thank you!

that one fluke right at your feet just did not want it haha
I'm assuming 1/4-3/8 ounce jig head would still be used if you are fishing from a boat in the back bays between 15-30 feet of water? or would something heavier be more ideal? I usually use a 1 ounce bucktail.
Yeah 3/8 works for those depths, 1/2oz up to 45 50ft, thing is you gotta cast up current
@@CookingandFishing Thanks for the reply, I'm sure you guys have mentioned it before but I just came across your videos the other day. A lot of great information you guys are sharing, best of luck this year
Anytime!
Is that the ocean surf? Or bay. Cause shits never thag calm on Long Island ocean surf
Great video as always. You have covered the tackle and techniques pretty much in depth which is great. But could you go over your preferred conditions for surf fluking. For example: tide stage, wind direction and speed, wave height, even specific times of year, etc.?
Clean water is better than dirty water, calm conditions easier to jig than windy/high surf...but the fish are there regardless - just more difficult to present your jig correctly in adverse conditions. Sometimes you get a day off and the surf is high and the wind is honking - go fish and learn how to jig when the wind is whipping your braid sideways; can't always pick and choose your days. Tide is very location dependent, and some spots it doesn't matter at all.
@@CookingandFishing Thanks for the quick reply! Out here on Long Island south shore I will typically look for those same conditions. The tide one gets me though as I typically target a high outgoing tide, will need to explore at other tide stages to see if that makes a difference. Separate question, I was debating with my buddy that the single jig technique does not work UNLESS you have the correct equipment (the rods and reels you guys have listed and reviewed in other videos). Would you agree with that statement?
@@acrylicpangolin More or less yes, the main thing is you can't go too heavy with the rod - this is a freshwater "sized" method and either freshwater bass rods in the ML-M power or very light JDM "suzuki" style rods will do. The lighter, crisper, and more sensitive the rod the easier it'll be for you to know what's going on with your jig.
I’ve been trying the single jig method after seeing you slay these fish from the surf, I’m no where near as good. I had trouble feeling bottom with the light jigs. Do you pop then reel or jig as your reeling? Would love to have a piece of knowledge to get me headed in the right direction. I fish from boat so this surf fishing is still new to me but I do love it. Thanks man!
I usually pop the jig, let it fall, reel in some slack, and pop it again on slack line. It's important to pop the jig on slack line. Are you using light braid and floro without any terminal? All of it is important to feel a light jig return back to the bottom.
Start heavier and work your way lighter. 1/2 or 3/8 is a good starting point, really feel for that moment your jig touches bottom - then try 1/4, 3/16 etc.
Marcy Marc, you talk to yourself more than any human being i ever met lol. However, Awesome video!
I pretend you're there lol
Beg to differ. Your technique depends on the conditions you are fishing!
Maybe increase/decrease jig weight, but I've yet to encounter conditions that required me to give up a single jig or spastically jiggle the rod tip to catch a fluke :)
Whats up? Have a few questions. First off love the channel and the content.
1. I fish on Long Island beaches where the surf can be rough. Do I need heavier than 1/4 jig head? If so how heavy?
2. Where can I find that PVC rod holder?
Thank you in advance!!!
I would dabble between 3/16oz and 3/8oz to see what works. But I find 1/4oz universal out front in any condition. The rod holder was built by couple out in the west coast but unfortunately they no longer sell them.
@@shore-moneyfishing1939 what happened to using the 1/2 oz decoy jigs?
That's more a jetty/inlet type deal.
Hey Marc, what do you do when its extremely windy and there’s a strong current going? I went out yesterday from the surf and had these conditions and it was very hard to do anything. Thanks!
It's definitely difficult and takes practice - one thing you can do is keep your line out of the wind by casting sideways, making shorter casts, and dropping your rod tip as soon as your jig hits the water. Keep that braid from sailing in the wind as much as possible. Pop your jig and then reel down the slack and keep your rod tip low for the drop.
Would you still use a 3/8 or lower jig-head?
@@perryjohnson1701 We would, yes - but there are no rules written in stone - it depends on the rest of your tackle, and most importantly your level of experience in isolating your feel for the jig amidst wind/waves/current acting on your line and lure. It takes practice, I suggest starting heavier say at 1/2oz and working your way down. Light crisp sensitive rods help, thin hydrophobic braid like the YGK Upgrade x8 in 16lb help, but experience is the biggest factor. The fish are there when it's blowing kingdom come - you just have to present your jig properly even in those conditions.
@@CookingandFishing marc I just wanted to let you know that I caught a 17 and a 16 in the surf this morning using your technique. I wanted to give up after an hour but I kept on going. I learned so much this morning by just jigging right infront of me during low tide so that I could see what was actually happening under water, and now I know what is going on when I twitch my rod. I will never go back to the jig head and teaser 😂 thanks man!
@@nikmar1338 Fk yeah!! It's a learning curve but once you can feel your jig and know what it's doing, you never lose it - and the more you jig the more muscle memory kicks in and it becomes autopilot.
Good Stuff Here Marc! 👍🏻....Hey just a quick ? for you, how long of a Fluoro Leader do you use or would recommend for this technique? 3ft or more? or less?....Thx, JD
3ft sounds about right, esp if you want to keep your knot outside the rod
@@CookingandFishing Ok Thx for the reply 👍🏻 as I'am gonna try that length leader (3ft) tied directly to 16lb Braid....As normally I would tie my own (About 36" or more) fluoro leaders to the smallest Spro Barrel Swivel I could use that is strong enough to hold up on a Saltwater Fluke Rigs but in this case here with this light (1/4-3/8oz Jig) Type of technique I'am gonna just do a direct Braid to Fluoro connection were the knot is outside the rod tip for sure...Tight Lines!...JD
You are the Fluke king! Can you give me a Fluke private lesson? I bought everything you recommended and I tried on the dock,,, I couldn't catch any fluke,,,,,
Did you watch our jigging video? ua-cam.com/video/K-nZvs-o4KE/v-deo.html
Remember it takes time to get the feel for a light jig esp in current...obviously you see that it works, keep at it - start heavier and work your way lighter. You need to know that you're maintaining bottom contact.
@@CookingandFishing Yes I saw it and I tried. Thank you, I will try harder!💕💕💕👍

@@delongwang3408 I'm sure it's fine but I highly recommend the 76MML :)
@@CookingandFishing i always fish at inlet , thought M will stiff enough to set the hook. Can u explain why u recommend MML , I will caontact seller to switch to MML
Single jig or the single hook chicken rig they both are killers sometimes the chicken rig does better for me sometimes the single jig does better
lol nah...
Lol ok...
single jig is not king..thats just your opinion
Lol
It is the.king ! Because I never seen people got that many keeper at surf. Simple reason
Single Jig is the best for surf. I caught so many fluke this year with single jig approach.
@@CookingandFishing i have no problem admitting when im wrong and ive used just a single jig or single bucktail all summer long and stuck with it to really see if there was a difference..i did have fantastic results..many many more keeper size fluke too..i fish sum of the same areas you do and i do have sum spots where a teaser works better for dealing with seaweed and debris..most my bigger fish were on the jerk shad which i never really used before and got 2 fluke this summer 24in which were my pb..im pounding hard tomm and sunday as the clock is ticking..was a great great fluke season this yr..
@@termite122 Awesome!!!
You don’t even need gulp to catch, stop wasting your money on them. Get zoom fluke and I bet you’ll have the same results. (At least that’s what I do)
No offense but this is terrible advice - we've done the side by side and the results aren't even close (yes with procure and other scents).
@@CookingandFishing hmm I outfished my buddy on a zoom fluke to his Gulp. It’s all in the technique. You tryna get sponsored by gulp!? LOL
@@moddkilla Nah I hate gulp, it's a stank mess with playdough colors and they got lucky that fluke responds to it like crack - re your experiment the simplest explanation is your friend doesn't know what he's doing :)
@@CookingandFishing LOL I love that response
NICE! I'm poor and I can't afford expensive Fluorocarbon leader material. Will 15 lb. test mono work as the leader? Fluke I assume can't see as well as Albies?
I suppose!
Mono worked for years before the invention of Fluorocarbon and braided lines. Fluoro helps make it harder for a fish to see the leader in clear water, and is a lot more abrasion resistant. It also does not stretch like mono. Those are pluses, but if cost is an issue, good old mono will work just fine.
