Solid review! This looks like it would make a solid hunting boot. They also look great with the kilties - are they by @RoseAnvil?

Weston are Gokey boots out of Tipton MO made this same way?
Honestly after seeing how it's built, price sounds very fair
The fact that these are no more expensive than the more industrialized boots is very impressive.
Of all the boots you've destroyed, this was by far the most painful to watch... these boots are my grail boot.
They can glue and sew them back together though
Criminal.. as he said
It was the vintage pair that made me cry
You can do it bro
a lot of people forget that price is also about the time that it takes to get a job well done
I've seem people try to cheap out on construction cost by going to the cheapest construction workers resulting in jobs done half-assed because the guy rushed everything, while good professional workers take their time to properly plan and do their jobs to ensure quality and safety
Honestly out of all the hand made boots I've looked at Russell is one of the few where I went yeah that’s a fair price.
These are 100% worth the price. I’m amazed at these boots. Craftsmanship and quality. Perfect.
This first time it hurt me when they started cutting it....
Russells are great quality. Not everyone can justify the expense, but if you can, then you won't be disappointed!
I have 2 pairs of Russel's. My first pair I bought in 1995 and the other in 2014. Both are the highlight of my boot collection.
I ordered a custom fitted pair and loved them so much that I found a second-hand pair for a quarter of the price. Some of the best boots I ever owned. Well worth the price.
Russell Moccasin. Been wearing them for 30+ years. Accept no substitute.
Beautiful boots - didn't know that this manufacturing process existed.
*There's hate in the comments that dont make any sense lol 😅! The level of work should be appreciated! The company isn't dead. If you watched the video, you'll know why it's very much alive. They won't squish your toes. He did say this is the Munson last being used to help for more spread of the feet. The company has also made zero drop shoes in the past. People are forgetting to realize how much handmade work is going into these boots! Really? Someone is hating on the fact that Weston notes that a "small team" is a factor in the price? He isn't a sizist (as the person claims lol 😅). He simply stated how it's a small team making boots. The company has people who have taken years for their skills. So the company cares about having high quality made boots. So having very skilled skilled staff is essential. I feel like some of the people in the comments section aren't recognizing the talent that goes into the making of these boots. The staff really need to know what they're doing, in order to craft high quality boots. Russell Moccasin cares about having very comfortable boots, and wants to carry on their legacy of their lengthy process. There's nothing wrong with it. That's just what they do and what they want to keep doing 😊!*
*If you hate the price and don't like the boots, then don't get them. Simple lol 😅! No one js forcing you to buy them. Go and find a pair of boots to your liking.*
I wish I could afford them !
My father was a cobbler while I was growing up and those machines bring back instant memories, the tick, chunk, tick, chunk sounds of those old babies🥲
I learned to sew on a Singer with a cast iron base and foot rocker...I wish I could have learned more about it from him and my uncle.
Waited most of my life to pull the trigger on a pair of Russell’s. Eagerly waiting for completion of my Premium Build Joe’s PH Boots. If they’re as incredible as they seem, will order a second pair.
Hand stitching work is crazy hard on the fingers. Even with wearing finger cots, the constant tension from the thread rubbing through to the fingers is grinding. I remember hand stitching a leather wrap on my steering wheel was hard on my fingers
I LOVE mine, and were 1000% worth the money. They are amazing....I want more! And I wanted to cry when you cut it on half!!
Another great video Weston. Keep ‘em coming please. I own a pair of Russell boots that my grandfather bought 40+ years ago. I wear them when I shoot clays. They are very waterproof especially for not having any fancy modern synthetic crap. They are the most comfortable pair of boots in my collection of Red Wing Heritage, Wolverine 1000 Mile & Rancourt boots.
Thats awesome!!!
I now know way ahead of time what Santa is bringing me. My size is not currently available, but will get a pair on order. Thanks for doing these reviews.
Before you order understand that these run big. And wide for me.
Bruh why have I not been keeping up with these videos. I love this channel so much 😭
been waiting for this video. great work as usual
What a banger of a vid this was. Genuinely inspiring to see something crafted so artfully and with so much care!
All these videos have helped me a lot to identify good leather shoes at second hand shops. Thanks!
One of the best vids you’ve made!
These made the bucket list! I love the deep dive on the craft and operations side of the video. Seems like a natural next step in addition to your usual. You should do Limmer and Sons as well! I've heard they have a program to even make custom lasts
Just got mine Friday and I love how they are made and how they look. I’m having a bit of trouble with the right one and my high instep but the leather is such that stretching is a viable option. FYI Chelsea at Russell is amazing!! She gets back to you right away and is very helpful.
I absolutely, absolutely love mine. I got the Pecos leather ones, uber comfortable for my wide feet
Great video, lots of interesting history and heritage
Totally worth the price
Saved this company for when I buy my first real quality pair of boots, eyeing up the hunters though, love the canvas/leather combo
My Russell Moccasin boots from the mid 1980's have the same moc toe stitch all the way to the back on both sides. I wonder when they switched to the flat stitching on the sides of the boots shown in the video. As a side note, my boots are still going strong 40 years later.
Great...now I want a pair of these...damn this addiction!
Awesome boots, thanks for sharing them.
I have 3 pairs of these... they are wonderful boots
Excellent use stock video clips. Super boots.
Love this! Would really love to see their Oneida Classic Build…
Glade to see your review on RussellI, now I would love to see a review on the Gokey Moccasin boot. Having both the Russell and Gokey I haven't found a more conformable and long wearing boot then these... Would love your comparison.
That there is beautiful craftsmanship
Love seeing the care put into a hand-made moc-toe like this! I'd love to see you cut a Parkhurst boot. They review well and seem to make a good entry-mid level boot for those who want style similar to Grant Stone with a bit more robust build. There's also some conflicting info between their website and Bootlosophy, so I'd love to see the true components of a Parkhurst boot in 2024
I got away from moccasin toe boots when I started riding and racing motorcycles. Shift levers destroy moc toes. The price is high but the quality justifies it. Hope they can make it in this market.
I know they don't look great but occasionally I use toe covers. Now I prefer a toe heel shifter and they are more comfortable and I don't worry about the boot I'm wearing.
Hi. It seems like a very nice, well built, good looking boot! Comfortable. : )
I know that it is not the topic today. However, I wanted to thank you for your review of the CAT Second Shift work boot. I purchased the steel toe model. With heel inserts, just great. Being retired, I wear heavy work boots almost all day. Wearing solid work boots does work on the cardio as well, if not better, than wearing $300 sneakers when doing the daily exercises.
Nice center cut score!
Danner has mostly always been a fashion boot.
Raichle Montagna was the best alpine boot while in existence. Vasque made some great boots. Scarpa might make a decent boot today. Review Scarpa.
This is the first video in a long time where the construction process is so complex that I sincerely can not follow it all the first time through. I have a feeling the price is quite justified, even though I'd probably never pay this much for footwear myself
Talking about moccasins you should do a comparison series about the cost, construction and materials of various camp mocs/bluchers/boat shoes available from Rancourt, Quoddy, LLBean, Sperry. Russell etc
Only a bad craftsman would be mad to have their work cut inhalf to show the skill and quality. This is not distruction it is the truth of what lies unseen. The proof in the flesh of quality im proud of my 15 year old red wings and consider them quality. Rose has shown me boots i would never had considered saving for but these videos might make me want a pair of 5hese.
I tried to get a sizing from Rose Anvil during their sale. They said they were too busy, but I could order and put a hold on to lock in the price.
the boot makers who poured their soul into making that boot are in tears watching you destroy it in seconds. 😥
Would love to see you cut open some Black Jack cowboy boots. Apparently they're the best quality you can get before getting custom bespoke boots.
i’d be keen to see a breakdown of the new balance 574
Have you considered reviewing Japanese boot makers? I have a pair of Moto's and would appreciate seeing you cut one in half. Big fan, appreciate all your content.
Back in the 1960s and before, there used to be ( in big cities and small towns ), small shops, shoe makers I remember my very first cowboy boots my grandpa took to to a boot makers just outside Laredo , my mother worked for a shirt making small shop, it used to be cheaper then a big stores how things have changed today is the other way around.
Impressive boots. Definitely worth the price. Even so, these are way too expensive for me. Rancourt in Maine are more in my price point.
What about Rancourt? They use genuine handsewn moccasin construction in their boots too, and I checked they don't put any foam or leatherboard under your foot either.
You should cover more milsurp boots, hopefully the Austrian Kaz 03 boots or feldsuch boots
i love my old Red Wings Wabashas made my Rancourt very mich ❤ sadly they didnt made them anymore 😢
That hurt my heart watching those get cut in half. Good vid.
The camera work stepped up a level! Maybe sliiiiiightly too much panning / zooming / movement, but it's a noticeable jump.
Another awesome boot capped out at size14 Noooooooooo!!
Sick Alpha Wolf shirt!
I want a pair.
🤞
I ordered a pair based on your review. I’m seeing a lot of negative press around the Internet though.
Mostly within the last two years
Is it qc issues? Do they have any kind of warranty for them?
From what I’m seeing, QC and customer service
I was in the golf floor. I knew storming Norman never saw him wear those.
Would be great to see how GH Bass Weejuns are made. A lot of people complain about leather quality for the price
I made a pair of boots where every single sitch i used to construct the boot is a saddle stitch it took me almost a year
I would love to see these compared against boots from Rancourt and Quoddy. Not everything that both of those companies make is true moccasin construction, but I believe they both make boots that are full moccasin. I have some shoes from both companies that are very comfortable and that have held up well, but they aren't made to be "rugged." I'd be curious to see their boots that are intended for outdoor use put up against these Russells (which look absolutely awesome!)
Leatherboard has always been a good building material. It's why all the greatest shoe builders around the world use it. Would a fine Italian chef use fully intact chunks of steak for meatballs? Or would he grind the steak to give it a better texture? Everybody is sending their perfectly good meatballs back to the kitchen claiming that they want full grain meatballs.
A fine Italian chef doesn't cook meatballs
Not the best analogy. How good leatherboard is depends on the binding agent.
These are the reason I’ve stopped watching the channel as much, my perfect boot!
Are you going to review the new irish setter casual boots? The setter fifty?
I own a pair of Backcountry boots bought in January of 2024. They don't have the sock liner inside the boot, rather they have a layer of foam (poron?) in between the inner and outer vamps (I can push with my fingers and feel the squishiness).
I wonder when they changed it or if the boots for this video were made different on purpose.
Totally a personal preference, but I've never been a fan of moccasin style boots. Really impressive build quality on those however. (Darn well oughta be for $765!😂🤣)
Hell of a boot, ill have to stick with my blue collar Thorogood mocs for $260 bucks.😅
They’re the same price as Alden Indy’s. Just remember that.
This is the second hardest video to watch you cut them in half. The other was those fancy tennis shoes from England.
For sure quality things take more time to be made than low quality products but this world who runing for money don’t understand that .
Like I said, maybe I'll look into these boots next year or something.
Still not sure how the LL Bean kangaroo ones stack up.
Can you do a Red Wing Supersole 2.0 review please
Nice
Weston, what are “Silverado” boots? Look like fancy Thorogoods
Wish they had a safety toe version.
Please review and destroy Timberland Pro Rigmaster boots!!!!!
It’s definitely worth the price, I just wish I had the cash to spend 5-10x what I normally would on boots.
You should do vessi
Have you ever thought about creating a video on motorcycle boots? Perhaps even comparing normal ones. Perhaps even your average day boots can make the cut to be used on a bike.
God, it felt like a gut punch to see it destroyed after he spent 10 minutes talking about how hard it is to make.
Could you cut in half the redwing 2415 moc toe wedge sole
This is the one time it hurt to watch you cut up a boot.
Now we're talking. Forget those clown shoes from the other video. This is a real boot
I dont like the fact that has a void on the heel and you can see a little collapsed, so that won't hold much and even worse because doesn't have a shank (both things combined and should've something that absorbed shocks the movement)
I have a pair of moccasin style loafers from Vinny’s but they cost me significantly less than this boot. I assume they aren’t made in America but still wondering what else makes it different..
To be honest, these were first boots I didn't want to be ripped apart.
RoseAnvil = RomanticGorilla 😊❤
This is the first time I said Noooo when you cut them.
What are the best under $250
3:57 Muson last you say. As if I needed another reason.
I had a pair of Rocky boots called Outback that look just like these boots. They were waterproof and lasted almost two years in the railyard where I worked. Even if these boots lasted just as long what are you willing to spend for a boot?
These will last you 20+ years
What about Gokey?? There are several other manufacturers of true moccasin boots.
I have two pair of Russell’s. They are truly great but they’re pricing them selves out in my opinion. Just a few years ago they were in the $4-$500 range and now they’ve almost doubled.
Right. That’s what happens when a company gets bought and “restructured”. Like Whites
"LAST BASTION" would be a great name for a boot company.
Are Gokey boots out of Tipton MO made this same way?
Curious how they dial in your shoe size before you place the order? Would hate to spend the money and they don’t fi't perfectly?
