I thought maybe I found one similar to this. Before Maverick makes his last attempt with guns in the final battle he has 33 rounds remaining. The movie was made in 2019 but wasnt released until 2022. 2019 is 33 years after the original film. Could be a reach but maybe not.
Penny is "Penny Benjamin, the Admirals daughter." She was an entry that Maverick had on his "rap sheet" for having "buzzed" with an aircraft. It was made note of by the carrier commander in the first movie, right before he gave them their "dream sheet" assignment at Top Gun. Yes, the ending scene is really Tom Cruise flying his own P-51 Mustang. He has a pilot's license.

@@MJoy4Fun Well he was actually flying i the F-18 its just he was not in control of it. Buzzing the carrier makes sense here - Maverick was in a damaged aircraft with no ejection system and so elected to do a low level pass to visually inspect the deck
The scene in the beginning when he's running on the treadmill is not to train for "g forces." That test flight actually shouldn't involve a lot of g-forces since he's more or less traveling in a straight line and a gradual turn. The purpose of that is because he will be flying at really high altitudes, and at high altitudes the atmospheric pressure is a lot lower. The suit he's wearing is pressurized but it can't be fully pressurized at ground level or else it will inflate like a balloon at high altitudes, so even inside the suit he's under much lower pressures. And with that he runs the risk of depressurization sickness, and that's where nitrogen in his blood turns into gaseous form in his blood. So in order to get rid of as much nitrogen as possible (and this is all in real life as well), high altitude pilots (like those who fly the U2 spy plane) will breathe pure oxygen for an hour or so prior to the flight and to help more of that oxygen absorb into his blood and tissue to expel more of the nitrogen from their system, high altitude pilots would often also exercise while breathing pure oxygen, which is what they were showing there. And to continue the attention to detail, you see him hold his breath after removing the face mask while they seal his suit and then pump the suit with pure oxygen as well, then when he's climbing into the cockpit, you see that Hondo has been carrying this box that is hooked up to his suit, that box is an air condition unit since it's very hot inside that sealed suit, so he doesn't get overheated on that walk to the aircraft. That's all real things that real high altitude pilots have to go through so it's cool that they put those details into the film. Also the design of the aircraft was also done with the help of real engineers at Lockheed Martin, the real aircraft company behind famous aircraft such as the SR-71 Blackbird, F-117 Nighthawk, and I think also the U-2 but not 100% sure about that one. The movie went to that length to ensure that their fictional aircraft doesn't have any obviously incorrect design choices that would make it unflyable. Again, details only a minority of people would notice. You see the Lockheed Martin logo on the front of the joystick and the skunk logo on the tail and the rear of the joystick of that experimental aircraft. That skunk is the logo of "Skunk Works" which is the nickname given to Lockheed Martin's Advanced Development Program that developed those aircraft I listed above. More little details that I really like, in the catapult sequence you see him give the thumbs up, salute, then he holds a hold bar that's visible from the outside. That is to show to the shooter outside that his hand is definitely not touching the joystick because for that initial catapult sequence the controls are taken over by an automated system and the pilot cannot touch the joystick or they can interfere with that. So only after they verify that the pilot is holding onto that hold bar do they activate the catapult. The E-2 Controller they show at the mission scene (the woman inside the room lit by the red light inside the plane with the big disc on top of it) is the real deal. They initially wanted to hire her just to coach an actress in how to talk like one, but they ended up just using her in the actual movie and it shows because the way she speaks has a level of confidence and is so casual that can only really come from someone who does that on a day-to-day basis. Speaking of the E-2, that aircraft is known as a "mini-AWACS" and is the correct aircraft to be shown there since it's basically a carrier-capable version of the typical AWACS aircraft that's much larger and would have required an close by airfield to operate from. The attention to detail in the movie is actually very commendable, although there were a few slip-ups, such as them saying the word "repeat" over the radio a few times. That's against military radio etiquette since "repeat" is used mainly for artillery to repeat fire on the last coordinates. So the rule of thumb is to never use that word since in the right (or I guess wrong) situation it could result in artillery being fired when it wasn't intended which could be very bad. The correct way to communicate over the radio that you want something repeated or that you are repeating a statement is to say "say again." So in this movie it should have been "Dagger One is hit! I say again, Dagger One is hit!" and "Dagger, you are not to engage, I say again, do not engage."
Yes, the U-2 came out of the Skunk Works. They did the design and construction of the first plane in only a few months. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_U-2
Talking Hands. I enjoyed your fun facts about the movie and military procedure, etiquette and life. As a former radio operator serving in an artillery unit, I especially appreciated your explanation why the word , "repeat" is not used in general military radio communication, except for artillery fire missions ( if specifically required in certain fire missions). I always groan/cringe when they say, "repeat" in movies involving military radio communication, instead of the proper phrase, "say again" or "I say again". Thank you for pointing it out.
@@marcovacca9144 Same, I wasn't in artillery but I also cringe a little bit when I hear that in movies and video games depicting the military. Heck, I actually always say "say again" in place of "repeat" even in conversation, it is just habit now, lol.
30:14 The reason Rooster's ejection seat wasn't working is because he didn't pull the safety pins while on the ground. They weren't tagged, and even Maverick had to take a minute to refamiliarize himself with the F-14, so it's highly unlikely he would have remembered to tell Rooster that needed to be done. And Rooster had no experience with the F-14.
Outstanding reaction! it was a good idea that both of you watched the first film. The sequel is packed with nostalgia. I sure do miss the sound of aircraft engines turning, the smell of jet fumes and chaos of flight ops on a carrier. Marion mentioned about Goose being a "co-pilot", he wasn't. Goose was not a pilot he was a RIO (Radar Intercept Officer). He's in-charge of the weapon system, radar equipment, communications to name a few.

The hardest thing was was to wait over30 years for the second Top Gun. I watched the first one a a young man and Hollywood usually ruins the second movie of every movie but this one was awesome. I remember playing Nintendo Top Gun and beat it and here we are for the best movie of 2022. Great reaction. New subscriber. Doing great yall
The reason "Coyote" did not have a WSO in the back the way "Phoenix" did was due to the model he was made to look like he was flying. The F/A-18E is a single seat fighter while the F is a dual seated aircraft. "Coyote" was made to look like he was in a E model of the F/A-18 same as "Mavrick" "Rooster" and "Hangman" were made to look like they were piloting. All the actors and actresses did experience what it's like to be in the Hornet but it was all done from the WSO position of F/A-18F's. Since none of the actors are neither officers or qualified naval aviators none of them actually flew the aircraft themselves and at this point are now past the minimum age to qualify even if they wanted (Have to be no older than 29 by flight school, first thing required before that is a commission)
I love the foreshadowing in this movie. In the "canyon run" training sequence when he's explaining all of the dangers, notice that the camera goes to the ones who will die for those reasons. For example, when he talks about flying over 100 feet would kill you, the camera shows Phoenix and Bob, who fails it when they pulled up to avoid Coyote. When Maverick talks about needing to keep a minimum speed, the camera goes to Payback and Fanboy, and they failed when they weren't able to stay on course when they were trying to fly fast enough to keep up with Hangman. When Maverick talks about needing to make it in a certain time so they can avoid enemy aircraft, the camera goes to Rooster and he fails because he took too long to complete the course. Also in the scene where Coyote, Phoenix, and Bob were to fly the 2nd part of the course, they show the birds being stirred up and flying off and Phoenix and Bob almost crash because of a bird strike.
32:08 - When you say it gives you the feeling "He's really flying." That is very true. That airplane actually belongs to Tom Cruise as his personal airplane. What you're seeing at the end is Tom Cruise taking Jennifer Connelly on her first time up in a plane like that. Here is her telling about it. ua-cam.com/video/EM2SmqGFTpo/v-deo.html
Irony.....the pilot Bob, his dad in real life is Bill Pullman who played the president/pilot in the movie, independence Day! The actors flew every day for 90 minutes at a time, and had to correct their own makeup, helmets, gear, volume, cameras, etc.! Penny was mentioned in the first movie! The plane in the end is actually Tom's! Rooster actually played the piano! Penny drives the same era, and silver, that Charlie drove! Hangman was a combination of young Iceman, and young maverick...he is obviously the best pilot, like young Ice, and a real narcissistic attitude like young Maverick! And also my favorite character!! Val kilmer, Iceman has throat cancer in real life.
That last lock on sound for some reason sounded so depressing..i know it sounds silly but when its the good gyys locking on its a dif feeling and when the bandit locked on to Rooster and Maverick with the music it just felt like " F**k they are dead" and that sadness knowing they are finished and also to top it off Maverick's " Im sorry Goose"
As far as "Mavrick" goes he mentiones not getting fired again which says how his first time as an instructor went. "Iceman" went on to become the Commander of the Pacific Fleet which like the Commander of the Atlantic is one of the few 4 star Admiral positions which at the moment is the highest rank any Naval/Coast Guard officer can reach. There is a fleet Admiral rank on the books which is 5 stars but it is only used in a time of war and the last time the Navy had a 5 star was in WW2
I'm pouring another for the Birthday Boy to watch this, fair enough I have to drink it all, but as a Scotsman it's a pleasure. Looking forward to watching this. Cheers to you and the family 🍻❤ Edit - Loved the reaction, kudos. Be well, one and all ✌
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm glad the original actress didn't come back. Jennifer Connelly the way she looks now looks so much more beautiful than that other actress back then even... I honestly never understood how people found her attractive in the first Top Gun, lol. But anyway, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all of that so that's just my own opinion...
As an Indian I particularly liked this "It's not the plane, it's the pilot", because even today USA can not digest that and Indian Mig21 shot down a Pakistani F-16. So by doing this they secretly accepted that Skill and sometimes exceed technology. 😊
Did you get the Easter egg? When Maverick first meets Penny (Jennifer Connelly) in the bar!! Music by David Bowie plays in the background, with whom she filmed Labyrinth when she was 16.
Tom Cruise has; private pilot license, commercial pilot license, license to fly jets, helicopter pilot license, and, last but not least, his most prized REAL ESTATE LICENSE! The P-51 in the movie belongs to Tom. He bought it in 2002.
Penny was the admirals daughter that Maverick got a dressing down for in Top Gun, but they never showed her on screen. You will like "Flight of the Intruder" with William Defoe and Brad Johnson.
When he's on the treadmill at the 1:51 point, he's trying to get rid of the nitrogen in his bloodstream. That's so he can breathe the purer oxygen in his flight suit & avoid a medical condition called 'the bends', which can be rather painful. It just bugs the hell out of me that they don't realize that the Commander of the entire Pacific Fleet is also in that picture at the 12:08 point.
X-15 is actual fastest rocket plane at Mach 6.7 (SR-71 is fastest airplane Mach 3.4) ... . Low orbit velocity is 17,000 mph or about Mach 24 (but irrelevant because Mach only applies in the atmosphere).
Movie of 2022 so far .. saying that I only saw Thor love and Bullshit in the cinema. The ending, was corny and silly ( faceless enemies ), the romance was meh but on the whole a great movie . Tom Cruise and Miles Teller are awesome in This . Roo hah team America..
If you remember from the first film, Penny Benjamin was mentioned twice. First time when the Capt. of the Aircraft carrier was yelling at him "flybys over one admirals daughter and Goose said "Penny Benjamin"? Second time Goose's wife said "Goose told me about the time you went ballistic with Penny Benjamin" So she was never seen in the first film but was mentioned.
Only thing you got wrong was Stinger was the squadron CO not the Carrier CO. He was also the same rank I left the Navy as a Commander which is a O5 and wears silver oakleaves. the Navy rank of Captain is a O6 and wears the silver eagles on the collar.
@@walterblackledge1137 While it is true the CO of any ship is referred to as Capt. regardless of rank a Commander would not be commanding a Carrier it will always be a actual eagle as the CO. I thought the same way you did up until I joined the Navy and so you're not alone in thinking that :)
@@CDRhammond Thanks. I always recommend young kids to go in the Navy or Air Force. After knowing how I lived in the Marine Corps, thats my recommendation.
Maverick still blamed himself for what happened to Goose for this whole movie. Goose's death was not his fault. Goose died because he fucked up. There was something that Goose was supposed to do when he punched out in the original that he didn't do, and it cost him his life.
This might be a 'duh' moment, but I'll say it anyway. I'm not sure how many people realize that the word 'Maverick' means crazy, unpredictable, capable, cunning... That's why it's Pete Mitchell's Call-Sign. And OOOHHHH, he DEFINITELY lives up to it!
Did anyone notice the missile launch from the F-14 was from the original footage. I have read comments but no one has ever said anything that I can find.

@@wwoods66 Wow, that's pretty quick for developing an aircraft...
It's the highest grossing movie of the year, $1.4 billion dollars!!
Admiral Cain stole my callsign in this movie :P now if only I could have taken his 2 stars instead of the silver oakleave I left the Navy wearing
It was a nice send-off for Iceman. I hope he gets better soon.
Oh my gosh you two are so incredible and adorable!!! *laughs shaking her head* Thank you SO MUCH for letting us watch this with you. Your enthusiasm and relationship with each other is priceless, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you sharing this with us.
I am very ill, I have been allergic to myself (LOL That has to be like in the top thirty most ridiculous illnesses of all time) for twenty three years now. I'm almost forty two. My favorite thing from high school was getting to go watch movies with my friends, I love them so much, and as a prop maker I love movies passionately as well. Genuinely the happiest memories of my life, and I'm so grateful for it.
The internet is a *LOT* of things lol, but I very genuinely want you to know that your taking the time to share this with us can really help and touch someone deeply. Thank you, so much, for letting us sit here and watch a fun movie with you and letting us feel like part of your friendship, part of a family. *wipes her eyes and smiles, *
Thank you. Very much.
Penny is Penny Benjamin. She was mentioned twice in the first movie.
Excellent! Just watched your Top Gun reaction last night. Can’t wait for this. 🔥
yaaaay! glad you liked it
That was Tom Cruise flying the P-51 Mustang at the end. I think it was a plane he owns.
Ah. I noticed the birds kind of establishing the outcome of that scene, but I didn't catch all those foreshadowing shots of the crews.
Best part of video. They are flying a mission with sams and bandits and whatever and theyre being taken out by birds I LMFAO
Love you guys, I watched all this movies like tons of times but love it watch it with you, greetings from Croatia :)
Nice to see these 80's icons , Jenny and Tom
This movie earned 1.5 billion dollars in the box office
Not much of that from China ... for some reason.
ALL THE FLYING IN THIS MOVIE WAS REAL!!!! CRAZYYYY
Remember, Goose's wife said Goose had told her all about the time Maverick went ballistic with Penny Benjamin, the admiral's daughter?
He is flying, the plane at the end is Tom Cruise;s personal plane!
I LOVED your reaction, guys. You both are great together! :) Tom Cruise was flying plane at the end, it's his private plane, after all. :)
Seeing those flashbacks in the theatres almost made me cry fr 😂
I'm pouring another for the Birthday Boy to watch this, fair enough I have to drink it all, but as a Scotsman it's a pleasure.
Looking forward to watching this.
Cheers to you and the family 🍻❤
Edit - Loved the reaction, kudos. Be well, one and all ✌
Happy birthday! and thank youuuu!
@@MJoy4Fun the Birthday Boy was you Marian 😂😂
Peace and Love ❤🍻
‘What you want? Go eleven?’ LOL
Tom was really flying the P-51. He is a licensed pilot.
It looks like Tom flying the P-51 mustang because it is. :)
You guys best reaction cool funniest awesome couple 😇👍🤗🎉😎✨🛩️
Might said this already but Penny in the last scene drives a Porsche. A nod to the first T.G. as Charlie also drove an older model Porsche
Something special about these Top Gun films when many times they have the actors in actual jet fighters rather than using CGI for the entire film.
at the end, its the actual plane of tom cruise. a WWII fighter plane worth 4 million $ and yes Tom cruise is a real pilot
As an Indian I particularly liked this "It's not the plane, it's the pilot", because even today USA can not digest that and Indian Mig21 shot down a Pakistani F-16. So by doing this they secretly accepted that Skill and sometimes exceed technology. 😊
They are making a Top Gun 3. Enjoy! 😁 Great Review!!
I predict at least 4 "Game Over." 😆
You both are soo fun to watch. Great reaction 😊
thank youuuu
Best movie I've seen in years. Very emotional ride.
The prop plane at the end of the movie is Tom Cruise's actual plane.
I was waiting for y’all to see this movie ❤ BTW, love the channel y’all are too cute
Love your reaction
Best movie 2022!
" Buzz the Tower"...LOL....
When Rooster said,
"Its what my dad would've done".
I couldn't hold back the 😭.
Awesome movie
very touching!!!
X-15 is actual fastest rocket plane at Mach 6.7 (SR-71 is fastest airplane Mach 3.4) ... . Low orbit velocity is 17,000 mph or about Mach 24 (but irrelevant because Mach only applies in the atmosphere).
Best movie of 2022
Brilliant movie best movie of the year 😉
I loved the movie. Entertaining but silly. But the 2 su-57s dogfight? That scene was ridiculous.
The girl in the first film, charlie isnt acting anymore, Penny was mentioned twice in the first movie!
This was a damn movie! Epic.
@@CDRhammond I knew he wasn't a Capt. in Rank but I thought he was the Captain of the ship, but what do I know, I'm an old jarhead... LOL
In California we have something called Star Wars canyon. Look it up.
Recommendation for you to react: P2 (2007), good thriller
Iceman, Val Kilmer is fighting throat cancer in real life! ( I think he might be in remission! )
Maverick still blamed himself for what happened to Goose for this whole movie. Goose's death was not his fault. Goose died because he fucked up. There was something that Goose was supposed to do when he punched out in the original that he didn't do, and it cost him his life.
Can you do Jerry McGuire with Cruise? Please
Very Nostalgic how Many times my tears go out
This might be a 'duh' moment, but I'll say it anyway. I'm not sure how many people realize that the word 'Maverick' means crazy, unpredictable, capable, cunning... That's why it's Pete Mitchell's Call-Sign. And OOOHHHH, he DEFINITELY lives up to it!
Penny was the daughter of the admiral he did a fly by over ;)
Marian would be a good fighter pilot!!
Did anyone notice the missile launch from the F-14 was from the original footage. I have read comments but no one has ever said anything that I can find.
Marian looks like a relative of Italian International movie star Bud Spencer from the 70s.
Maka lingaw gyud imong pagka gahi nga iningles .., bisdak kaayo... i like it
The original girl was Charlot Blackwood call sign Charlie I think.
