Beautiful and strange mountain animals

The Allegheny Mountains have a lot of biodiversity. There are unusual plants and insects along with strange amphibians. Most notably the red-spotted newt which has unbelievably strange life cycle. Also there is a millipede that fluoresces under UV light and those are just some of the amazing creatures in this video.

Why even kill snakes if they aren't actively going after you? That's just baffling.
Whoa, that swallowtail is gorgeous! I've never heard of these before; what a lovely insect.
Amphibians are weird little beasties, aren't they?
I'm not actually ignoring the great shots of fungi, I'm just not as into them as all the other stuff. 😅

Yes, is amazing how much life is still in the Allegheny Mountains. There are many salamander species (only one of which was in the video) and just a ton of butterflies along with other insects. Not to mention all of the plants. Thank you so much for commenting!
