How to Watch Charmed

- This video does a deep dive into 3 ways that you can watch Charmed by highlighting the pros and cons associated with each method so you can choose the best option for yourself.
We'll be talking about streaming platforms, DVD complete series box sets, and Blu-Ray box sets while getting a bit jargony with HD and SD formats, aspect ratios, dvd/blu-ray players, and more. So if you were curious about how you want to experience the original Charmed series (the 1998 one starring Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan), you've come to the right place! I'll also be answering FAQs that I get on my Charmed videos so you might catch an answer or two here as well.
I’m so excited, I recently found my book of shadows replica with all eight seasons. I bought it in 2008. It’s the huge, full sized one. Definitely one of my most prized possessions and I will cherish it forever.
I love that retro feel. SATC, The X-Files and Twin Peaks have that vibe..and I enjoy it so much!
Same! There’s a rawness to it that’s missing from the overly polished and edited look of shows today imo
I have a boxset that I bought online in Sweden, it’s a European Book of Shadows DVD set, region 2 I believe. It’s one of the ones mentioned in your video, but I heard about the audio options, and my copy has English, French, and I think spanish/italian(?) as audio options with a lot of subtitle options for ALL seasons, so you can watch season 1 Charmed with french audio
That’s awesome! It’s so cool that the Region 2 DVDs have so many subtitles. That was my biggest issue with the Region 1 DVDs until I found out my dvd player had a closed captions option, but it would have been nice to have more options across all seasons
I had no idea that they changed the music. I've been trying to figure out why it feels different. Switching back to my box set, just started season four, welcome Paige! RIP Shannon and Prue , we love you both and we miss you both xx
yeah... the new theme song.... big NO for me, it's just not right
It's not even logical based on the shows themes. At least there's a history of witch music with the legacy of The Craft and Charmed having that as their main theme. It's iconic on many levels.
Bruh before I watch the show you already know I gotta scream “I am human and I need to be loved”. The new theme song sucks ass.
Ugh in season one when Prue was trying on her new clothes and they played Tal Bachman’s She’s So High was so much better. In A Witch’s Tail finale when they used B*Witched’s Blame It On The Weatherman helped make those scenes
Totally agree! I love Tal Bachman's She's So High and it's a crime that it got replaced on streaming. It ruined one of my favourite Prue montages :(
I have french DVD book of shadows and it has subtitles (english too) on every episode ❤️
That sounds incredible! And like the text and episode titles are in French too? I’m so curious about what the episode titles would be in French ❤✨
@@manicmediadream they are in french in the book of shadows but when you play DVD the menus are in english. Im not french so I have never play the episodes with french subtitles. I bought french version bcs it was very cheap and it had english subtitles.

And yes omg!! It looks so good on crt in it's original form... Unfortunately my dvds are in storage atm.. 😭
And when you watch it on Pluto tv for example. Even though it's 4:3 it makes it in a center square on my crt bc it's broadcast in HD but 4:3 in the pluto tv app. Still looks great even then. It's a Sony 25 in Trinitron from 1996 that i got on eBay

The phrase "cottaging" means something VERY different if you are British or Irish, !maybe best to pick a different word. Just for reference
The only downside in my opinion with the DVDs is just the fact of having to switch (the other cons don't bother me), especially since I have a tendency to not want to just watch everything in order completely. I tend to skip an episode, or two sometimes when I rewatch a season, or just have the desire to watch a bunch of random episodes that are spread out through the seasons.
This comment is making me realize that once I insert any disc into my player, I just end up watching the show linearly from that point on 😂 I think the only episodes that I watch outside of continuity are Sin Francisco and All Hell Breaks Loose
I got the German Blu Ray edition. It’s perfect. But I miss the grainy look lol
That’s amazing! The German Blu Ray set is gorgeous 😍 hang on to it cuz it’s limited edition and out of print 🙌 yeah I switch between the Blu rays and DVDs depending on if I want widescreen or a grainy look 😅

Guard them with your life! Nothing better than owning content you can access at any time imo. Especially with Charmed because it has all the original music and theme songs minus Season 8 and even then it's just the theme song that's missing
What about watching charmed on TV like on TNT in the United States?
I had some idea of syndication but it ended up getting scrapped cuz my runtime was already way over what I wanted it to be 😅
I thought this was going to be a video about watch order or something haha, not where to watch it.
What other order would one need to watch them in other than the intended chronological order?
