Great comparison! You mentioned the CRBN 2X I too enjoy this paddle and have tried numerous other newer paddles, Joola’s, Gearbox Powers, Paddletek, but keep going back to the 14mm, 2X. It is totally worn out and need to replace it, would buy another but started using a two hand backhand and as you know the 2X just does have a long enough handle. What would you suggest for a replacement?
@@123BV8 is the standard shape something you must have? TBH, these “S” rated paddles are my favorites www.mattspickleball.com/paddle-ratings I recently picked a Neonic Flare Prime X and that thing smacks but it’s more comparable to the 14.3 ESQ than the CRBN 2X. For something a bit more comparable to the 2X check out the PIKKL Hurricane pro 14mm
I have the Ronbus EV2 and experience the same issue with the excessive pop. Thank you for the diligent testing of all these Gen3 paddles and the information is very helpful.
Tbh, the 14mm Mod TA-15 is just lighter and more whippy (even with some additional weight) while still being controllable. Mine with 23mm edge guard tape around the sides and top of the paddle and a hesacore grip/tourna overgrip comes in at just under 8.4 oz. I'm thinking of removing the Hesacore and going back to a regular replacement grip so I can take the weight out of the handle and add tungsten to the lower corners of the paddle head where it's more useful.
Let me know what you think about that setup after you change it! I regret adding a Slyce Cap to mine and I had to remove the Hesacire which adds a few tenths of an ounce.
I really like the slyce cap on my mod ta 15 14 mm. This is a very controllable paddle and reminds me somewhat of the paddletek 12mm. This paddle is completely different from the mod ta 15 16mm
FYI, if you go back and watch this video, for the OG Scorpius orange paddle, most of your serves are being hit with your foot over the baseline and inside the court before making contact with the ball. Just thought I would let you know. Also might help to add speed and oomph by stepping through your serve with your back leg and transferring body momentum as you finish your follow through. I had to add this same step to increase the power of my serves.
He hit almost all his serves with all the paddles with his foot stepping on the line and even if he was stepping a few inches further for the two Scorpeus models, that only emphasizes how much more powerful the Ripples and Mod TA-15 really are.
Yeah, it’s a good callout. 😊 I was testing speed, though, not serves form or serves hit inbounds -which most were even still. 🙃 Too bad I can’t serve that freely in games! 🥴
@@MattsPickleball why even call them "serves" then, if you're not attempting to hit an actual legal serve? Whats to stop you from just cranking it to the moon if you aren't going to put some realistic bounds on the exercise?
I have a Pulsar FX R1 and used to think it was a power all-court paddle. After now playing with a Mod TA-15 14mm for almost a month now, going back to the Ronbus FX feels like I'm hitting with a control paddle with low pop & power. The feel off the face also isn't as plush as the Mod what with the stiffer face of the FX.
Matt great review Sir. Exactly what I wanted to see. Thank you. Could you please also do the same with the new Pickleball Apes Pulse V 16mm vs the Paddletek Bantam ESQ 14.3mm vs the Paddletek Bantam ESQ 12.7mm Sir? Much appreciated and keep up the wonderful work ! Saludos from Panama.
Oh nuts! I can, but I need to send my V back to Ape’s. They want to investigate my paddle. I will be posting a side by side speed test with the Pulse V…and a handful of other power paddles including the ESQ very soon. Targeting this weekend!

So, you have to wait, unfortunately. You can buy it at Ronbus's website, www.ronbus.com/?ApplyPromo=rcmpb but I believe you have to wait until the end of this month. Ronbus hasn't been very clear about when they are going to release the Ripple.
Great question! ALL of the paddles I hit, have, a minimum of 30 hours on them, each. For context, my Apes Pulse V had 4-6 hours of solid play on it before it “opened up.”
The balls can go so much faster, you lack lag and wrist snap. I can probably get a control specific paddle to serve faster than you with a power paddle. Straight facts, let me know if you want to see lol
This is the best test of the whole year. Great job man.
Great review. This is what I'm looking. Have you tested the new Ripple without the waves.
