I’m greatly enjoying master mode so far minus one or two exceptions. You do need a decent knowledge of the game to make the most of it though and to be able to gain progress much more easily. For example: 1. Know where good weapons respawn each blood moon, mark them, get them. This includes trials of strength. 2. Get Majora’s Mask ASAP, keeps most enemies from immediately aggroing on you. Lets you run around mostly without issue. 3. Get phantom armor for that attack bonus. 4. Stal enemies still die from two bombs, use that, mark the ones with decent weapons on your map, farm each blood moon. Bombs are actually still viable in many situations when used right. 5. Use a quick shot from a bow with a normal arrow to stop/reset the regen timer on enemies. So far I’ve gotten all sheikah towers except one (need fireproof armor), am loaded with weapons, and still only have 3 hearts. It’s definitely doable and I quite like the challenge.
As someone who quit normal a quarter through because it was too easy I disagree. While I have hit roadblocks due to lack of knowledge every single one of those roadblocks was an invitation to explore either the mechanics or other regions and lead to me gaining the necessary knowledge and having a lot of fun. In my normal mode run I hadn't cooked a single thing past the great plateau because it was confusing and their was no incentive to learn it. MM had me searching for something to increase my damage as soon as I left the plateau which lead me to discovering Lurelin Village, experimenting with mighty bananas, and one of the most satisfying moments ever.
@@TheFloodFourm Well as I had already done the game on normal difficulty first it wasn't possible to go into this blind. Most of the good/valuable recipes require ingredients that, especially starting out, I either can't afford or cannot get in any decent manner, especially for how often you would want damage buffs in MM. Phantom Armor is free and permanent damage boost though it isn't a lot it's way better than nothing. I won't mince words here. I hate the weapon durability system. Weapon durability is such crap in this game that I avoid combat when possible or unless absolutely needed. Even with damage buffs I feel I would still be losing more/better weapons than I would gain from killing most enemies. All the durability system does is make me farm respawning weapons and look for cheese tactics rather than fighting head on with most enemies. It's not unreasonable to break 2 or even 3 weapons on a decent sized enemy (and I haven't seen or fought gold enemies yet...I don't even want to know how bad they are). So you use up let's say 2 weapons and then food ingredients if using recipe buff and for what gain? 1 weapon that probably wasn't worth what you just spent in resources to get that weapon. Aside from Lynels I have yet to see many targets that are worth the hassle.
My man at 11:06 that is One Piece, a anime/manga that I've been a bit obsessed with for about 2 years now. SuperEyePatchWolf has great videos that I'd recommend watching if you're interested!
This was really funny, and well edited. I hope you figured out that there is a hidden leveling system in the game. You just have to kill enough monsters to see the effects. The all get better equipment and the lower ranked enemies disappear making room for even stronger enemies.
When I started master mode the first thing I did was try to get enough orbs to get the master sword as quickly as possible then did the trial of sword dlc which sucked but so worth it once it was beaten, like now I can’t go back to normal mode because of the challenge
Awesome video just saying in case you don’t know, there is an hidden level in botw which upgrades the more you kill enemies. If you didn’t noticed, the game starts with only Blue Lynels and once you kill enough things they all become Gold. So yeah the difficulty follows a bit your progression but not by much
I started master mode recently and spend like 5 hours just exploring the great plateau for all its secrets, there's 2 soldier broadswords in the plateau, and excluding the talus and the lynel, you can clear the whole plateau with what you have, that in itself gave me a boost that has helped me out since because I killed enough enemies that better weapons started spawning quicker (i had read online about how you should run away at the start of master mode, but knowing how the leveling system works, I went against it); but yeah the HP spike from black to white is so big that unless you find some later game swords you're not well prepared for them. And the regen kicks in so fast when you use stuff like exploding barrels or dropping rocks and stuff that they make them kind of useless. What I do like about master mode is that I have a reason to create elixirs and change clothes other than temperature.
Hell yea, thanks man I appreciate it. I'm working on a Doom difficulty review right now and this comment for sure gave me a shit ton of motivation to continue forward with it.

Yeah, after seeing this, as much as I would appreciate completing a satisfying challenge, I can see myself raging a lot if I played Master Mode. I'm planning on buying the DLC for more content and starting a new game with it. So, I think I'll skip master mode and just have a preferable fun time with some challenges on the side. Thanks for the review. Keep up the good work.

I don't blame you, normal mode starts out easy but actually gets harder when more high level enemies show up. I'm glad you liked the video! I've been recieving a lot of good feedback on it so I guess Im gonna stick to an essay style format from now on.
This man referenced One Piece in a freaking Botw video, I never thought I'd see the day o.o Also the dunkey reference around 11:40 and persona music earlier in the video.... man this is great xD Super great video for how small you are dude! This is exactly what I was looking for, and the humor is on point. ...I will continue to watch your career with great interest q.q
This is a great video. I've been playing MM for a couple months. I definitely skip most enemies but Lynels are a blast. Currently trying to get the One Hit Obliterator which I think will just make things hilarious... As long as I'm not fighting more than one enemy at a time...
I think they should have implemented a system, in which you could upgrade your weapon types durability + 1 by using monster parts. Example: all swords can dish out one more extra hit would cost, I don’t know maybe a goblin horn or something. For the swords to reach 2 extra hits, double that number again. And so forth and so forth. And that for each weapon type. Would have been worth it then to at least fight monsters..
I had to do a double take at the subscriber and viewer count, lol. I just couldn’t believe that a low-popularity channel would be able to output a video so great. Seriously bro, the editing, jokes, music, and your personal ideas all make this video great. I subbed and hope you grow huge
Had not played botw for 2 years and bought master mode to play through again (currently 10hrs in). Worth every penny imo. Besides the main stuff that I remember its like ive never even played it before. Loved the vid my dude, outro edit was insaaane ✌
I never realized the enemies regenerate their health. Do they do this in normal mode too, and it's just more pronounced in master mode, or is it unique to master mode? Also, yeah, the beginning of MM is a pain in the dick. Not only to a ton of enemies one hit you, but like you said, the weapobs are so incredibly weak(particularly on the plateau), it takes like 3 weapons to kill a single bokoblin. I also totally agree about getting better at fighting(especially dodging/parrying), and having to be stealthy and creative. And those fucking mini guardians in the shrines in the beginning are practically impossible to kill, especially when theres more than one, and they just one shot you. I noticed the same thing about engaging enemies feeling pointless, especially enemy camps, as they probably have weapons you don't want, and the treasure chests generally have shitty items in them. At it feels like the only reason to engage with enemies/camps is for the monster parts/items you get from them so that you have something to sell for rupees, or for upgrading clothing/ armor at fairies.
the enemies only regenerate in master mode (luckily). I'm glad you agree with how I felt about engaging enemy camps, honestly it was something I felt like I would get backlash on but it seems like majority of viewers had the same opinion. This video was a pretty fun way to get a discussion going about master mode, I hope my future videos can do the same with the topics they cover.
Before watching this video, I’m currently playing master mode after beating the game twice before on normal, and I think it’s a good challenge after having played before, but not very balanced at all.
I like how Resident Evil games do extra hard modes. It's noticeably harder for sure, but manageable for a person who has finished the game. And you feel like the skills acquired in the normal mode really help, instead of dying a million times in the beginning until you re-learn everything...
This video is awesome in every way, good editing, funny, informative and honestly the outro was fkn awesome and actually gave me shivers as dumb as that might sound
A few years late, but if you’re still playing BotW like I am, I recommend checking out the mod Relics of the Past. It solves a lot of the problems you mentioned with scaling. Higher level enemies actually have good weapons, and there are chests with great weapons out there. There are also way more lynels and Guardians everywhere.
My main reason for starting Master Mode is that it's the only way to have a second save slot (can't make new profiles due to uh reasons) and my god the healthbars are just insane. The video editing is top notch tho
Thank you! It took a lot of time to edit (especially the end) so I'm glad you enjoyed, there's still a lot for me to learn in editing but the more videos I make the more I learn so hopefully my editing can become even better in the future.
This is such a well made video that didn’t make me want to skip ahead and get to the point or let it drag on, no idea how you only have less than 1k subs dude. Keep it up!
3 things to change about master mode - add more enemy and weapon variety - make standard enemies (bokos, moblins, and lizals) have slower or negligable regen - reap greater rewards from enemy encounters
Haven't watched the video yet but I love master mode so far. It's super freaking exciting, gets my heart pumping. I love it. However I will admit the combat has a heavy learning curve in master mode. You have to learn new strats. Which isn't a bad thing. Also oh my God did you have asian kung fu generation playing? A man of culture I see.
The regeneration can be annoying but it just means you have to learn how to deal high dps in a short amount of time. Which.. at the beginning the game is really freaking hard.
@@tyenevins6208 you can use the same strats but just add in an arrow shot, wear attack buff armor or eat atk buff food, freeze then burn (deals extra damage), use sneak strikes (maybe wait for night so they can sleep and do this easier). Plus enemies do scale and get stronger over your play through which means they get better weapons over time too, so the weapons tend to pay for themselves if you do everything right. Really, I’m just scared of the master trials in master mode but gonna try that soon too lol It’s a hardcore mode and for some may be frustrating but takes an ultimate understanding of the game to fully appreciate I think
As someone who never played the regular botw and started directly with master mode, i went through that realization of "why would i waste time fighting this fodder and lose 3 weapons for a shtty club" and at some point, i dont really know when, but the answer came to me. "Because i fking hate these guys." It got to the point where i didnt care about losing a great firesword to kill a squad of Lizalfos, because i can just go find the enemies that have one and take it back. I have so much rupees i dont mind blowing 20 bomb arrows on some moblins. I use my best weapons because i can just get them again, in a worst case scenario id just have to wait for a bloodmoon since i mark literally everything on my map and the hero's path is an ABSOLUTE godsend for retracing steps. Yeah, i know the trade off isnt worth it in a material sense, but im past that material phase. Gear fear is absolutely a real thing, where you dont want to lose your cool new weapon, so you just never use it. If you conquer that feeling, it opens up a WHOLE new game for you.
I started master mode and gave up after fetching 25 spirit orbs cus I had just done a 100% play through on normal it was brutal. But this video inspired me to start it up again. I think instead of grinding the shrines again I’m gonna just dup hearts and glitch through the master sword trials. I’m not doing that shit again lmao. I already did all 120 shrines and everything else on normal
Melvin James that is why I duplicated the hearts for master mode. It’s super easy and makes master mode enjoyable because no shrines. Then just grab master sword, fetch some dishes and go fight ganon off the rip it’s fun
when I first beat this game back in the day, I took all the time in the world to find shrines enhance equipment and stuff, I enjoyed the fight against ganon, but it felt very easy, link is too powerful after a 100 hours of gameplay. And when I finished the game I thought, it's open world, you can go directly to ganon if you wanted to, is it possible to beat it? Woke up next morning and started the game again, took the armour and earrings to look cool and went straight for ganon. Now getting through the castle to the top, beating ganon and all its faces with 3 hearts was FUN as fuck, challenging but not impossible and it roled played like Link did remember Zelda is trapped in the castle haha. That's a master mode for free.
Going straight to ganon does seem like the ultimate challenge since you wouldnt have pages of food to bring you back to full health. Thats kinda my biggest problem with botw honestly, if you just farm food its the same as having hundreds of hearts to spare. I think if there was some kind of way to limit how much health you can get back during a fight they would be much more challenging
@@DrowziDrewzi that's true for many games, and in this one specially true. getting full life back +13 extra hearts for knowing what to cook seems excesive
@@FeelMetalMan you have a point, now that I think about it theres a lot of games that have regen systems that can be easily abused... you sir may have just given me a new video idea

Great video! Watching this shortly before tears of the kingdom and it’s inspiring me to revisit BOTW! This channel and video both deserve more attention!
If there’s one thing I can give Master Mode credit for, it’s much easier to get rich. Because of all the Silver- and gold-tier enemies, you’ll be racking up a lot of gems. Find a pack of five or six Silver Bokoblins, that’s a small fortune right there.
Dude I usually don’t watch 30minutes videos but holy shit this was incredible. The anime ending you edited gave me chills. I bought Tears of the Kingdom and all my friends said to play BOTW first and I’m glad I did because it made me find your video. Keep making great content! A like and sub from me. 💪
Hardcore fallout was so freaking good, im not even a glutton for pain but that game made planning my routes and rationing water somehow a fun puzzle it was how the game was meant to be played so many extra layers I hope master mode is like that
14:28 this bit is all wrong, there is a hidden level mechanic that levels up your world and the monsters that appear and weapons you can collect all get stronger as you gain the hidden XP, look it up, it's a thing.
Now try the Trial of the Sword. Finding out you can cheese the two Room 10 Silver Lizalfos was the greatest thing ever. That said it's complete bullshit that must've never been playtested because it is so comically imbalanced. The Champions' Ballad is better, but its final boss is everything horrible about Lizalfos on Master Mode, but worse. It's like fighting 8 Yiga at once. And they have all 3 elemental arrows.
I somehow managed to beat trial of the sword and DUDE THAT ROOM YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IS SUCH BS LIKE SERIOUSLY. I havent even touched champions ballad though, I guess Ill have to check that out too... wish me luck
@@DrowziDrewzi The 1HA was more of a handicap in Normal Mode, but it's a godsend in Master Mode. 1 shotting a Gold class enemy is such a boon. The Great Plateau Lynel didn't know what hit it.

How have you only got 900 subs. This may just be the best breath of the wild video I've ever watched. Amazing editing and funny commenting and references. Good job
BOTW is definitely made more for exploring than combat, so I'd say normal mode is a good call. Also completing trial of the sword on Master Mode is a nightmare
I’m like 3 years late but I did my first full play through on master mode- and I would not consider myself someone who is very skilled in combat areas of games. I felt as though the difficulty wasn’t that hard, as after I got weapons I just didn’t fight mobs as I didn’t see the point. I did the divine beasts and ganon was basically a joke as I just turned on Daruks protection and slapped the shit out of him first try. I will say that the hardest challenge for me was the Trial of the Sword and the DLC divine beast upgrades. Especially waterblight- but I felt as though they poses great challenges even though they weren’t “required” which I really enjoyed
Why so few views? This video is excellent in balancing content, editing and comedy!!! Can it be true that so many gamers just not up to the challenge of BOTW Master Mode??? They’re greatly missing out by A) not playing Master Mode and B) not letting the YT algorithm propose them this gem of video production.
My ideal hard mode for this game would be: .Can only fast travel to a shrine one time .Food doesn’t naturally heal you, unless you make meals with the extra hearts buff If you health is under less than half you can’t run, only jog The only way you can naturally heal besides extra heart meals you have to sleep at ins or beds
I think the unwritten rule for master mode as ive done it before is get 13 heart containers get the master sword, upgrade it via trials to 60 power and seriously the game becomes a breeze after
13:53 have any elemental type weapon. Hit it once then switch to another weapon amd wail on it. Rinse and repeat. When it does its final charge shot get your strongest heavy weapon, charge swing and pray.
I like the concept, I think your points are strong. But I'd sugest pacing the "dunkey" parts. I get it, I think he is funny too, I even chuckled at some of your jokes here aswell, but you're not just doing a comedy video here so doing multiple in a row is a bit distracting. Otherwise keep it up, you got something here.
Yeah I totally agree with you and my friends razz me for my "dunkey clone jokes" a lot. Finding my voice has been harder than I thought it would be but I think my script skills are slowly getting better, I'm gonna keep trying new techniques so I can finally see what sticks. Thank you for your critique, it helps to see different viewpoints so I can improve.
I just went straight to Ganon without freeing the Divine Beasts in Master Mode and after getting a fully upgraded Barbarian Set. It took me a second attempt to win. It was the one thing I hadn't experienced. I also did it in Normal Mode beforehand with fully upgraded Knight Armor instead. I'm definitely never doing it again. The only challenge left for me is the Master Mode Trial of the Sword.
A lot that you said about Master Mode I agreed with, but did you know that there are levels in the game? There is a hidden “xp algorithm” that scales the worlds monsters depending on how many you have killed + a bunch of other factors. Personally I could have done without the hp regen bullshit because the enemies are hard enough already with the shitty weapons you get at the start of the game lol. Also for the monsters having shitty weapons, I find that it’s pretty 50/50 if they have a shitty club or a beefy weapon. At least for my current playthrough of Master Mode i have encountered bokoblins with a damn mighty Lynel Bow or Moblins with a Flame/Thunder greatsword. I think if their weapons got any better then we’d get 1 shot by even a Blue Bokoblin at max hearts lol. Definitely agree they need to do better with the scaling in a different way. Oh and I’m playing Master Mode 2 years after I beat the original game like 95% complete.
This video does a great analysis of Master Mode. I came here for confirmation that I should stop my MM playthrough, and I got it. I love being under powered and having to plan and get good at the game. In normal mode I succeeded despite playing poorly so I never learned BotW combat properly. This time I had to backtrack from a shrine I found because it was a "major test of strength" and I wasn't prepared. The progression seems to make more sense, I couldn't just take any route before gaining some power. But I don't like that clever use of the environment is not rewarded properly, and the idea of being one shot in most fights even after progressing through the game. This mode made me wish for a leveling system in a Zelda for the first time ever. Well I guess it's called Master mode for a reason, and not Hard mode.

So, go through the world backward.
youtube algorithm give this man more views, he deserves it ! awesome vid. Btw what is this ? 11:06 looks pretty sweet
That anime outro was sick af, loved this video dude and great personality
Awesome video just saying in case you don’t know, there is an hidden level in botw which upgrades the more you kill enemies. If you didn’t noticed, the game starts with only Blue Lynels and once you kill enough things they all become Gold. So yeah the difficulty follows a bit your progression but not by much
Only on master mode do they become gold?

Aye glad ur enjoyin em my dude hopefully I can top it with stuff I got on the agenda
@@DrowziDrewzi aight that settles it. I’m turning on notifs.
You can kill everything on the plateau including the lynel with what you have
Hey man great video. I fully agree with your analysis on the regenerating health. Keep up the good work
Hell yea, thanks man I appreciate it. I'm working on a Doom difficulty review right now and this comment for sure gave me a shit ton of motivation to continue forward with it.
DrowziDrewzi awesome man, can’t wait. I’ll be looking forward to it

Fantastic video man. Looks like I'm doing normal mode lmao
I don't blame you, normal mode starts out easy but actually gets harder when more high level enemies show up. I'm glad you liked the video! I've been recieving a lot of good feedback on it so I guess Im gonna stick to an essay style format from now on.
LMAO loved this video! The humor and editing and commentary was great, you are CRIMINALLY underrated. Good work on this vid!
This man referenced One Piece in a freaking Botw video, I never thought I'd see the day o.o
Also the dunkey reference around 11:40 and persona music earlier in the video.... man this is great xD
Super great video for how small you are dude! This is exactly what I was looking for, and the humor is on point. ...I will continue to watch your career with great interest q.q
New video probably gonna be out this week q.q thanks for the support I'll do my best to make this next vid a banger as well!
It's still worth it you can use the parts for upgrades and rupees.
Guess what
🤔

Alternate title: How to Turn BotW Into Dark Souls.
Oh my god. Please please please. You needed to release a standalone video of your Gannon fight edit. It is so freaking amazing.
I reached the end of final trials and I died simply because I accidentally used an extra ancient Arrow on the previous floor.💀
Here before 1000k, I know you will have 1 million in no time!
also the editing in the video is amazing!!!!
Had not played botw for 2 years and bought master mode to play through again (currently 10hrs in). Worth every penny imo. Besides the main stuff that I remember its like ive never even played it before. Loved the vid my dude, outro edit was insaaane ✌
One of the highest quality videos i've seen from someone with 241 subs? UA-cam get this man a job.
The hardest part about master mode is the champions ballad waterblight Gannon, you get three super weak weapons and ten arrows, with the regen
i thinks its floor 10 of trial of the sword
I loved the gamer statement that had me dying
Amazing video dude. The anime tune and montage at the end was pure heaven xd
This video is absolutely goated. Great editing bro. I love vr aswell btw.
I just started (seriously) playing in MM again in BotW. I. Love. It.
Great video!
The edit, the fun part, the nostalgia, you are the main character bro,i subbed right after the video and i hope you get more recognition !
This video is awesome in every way, good editing, funny, informative and honestly the outro was fkn awesome and actually gave me shivers as dumb as that might sound
This was the first video I’ve watched by you and I immediatly subscribed and then realized you only had like 400 subs, how, you deserve better
This video made me feel like I was 5 years younger watching star_ play TF2

Thank you so much for the HxH spoiler warning. You just saved my life
3 things to change about master mode
- add more enemy and weapon variety
- make standard enemies (bokos, moblins, and lizals) have slower or negligable regen
- reap greater rewards from enemy encounters
that ending gave me chills ngl, great video keep it up
Haven't watched the video yet but I love master mode so far.
Yo, let’s go! You are so close to 1K , you deserved a lot more, but there is always a road to follow! Let’s go man!
100% agreed, spent too much time on normal grinding all the shrines and gears and etc... Can't do it again....

Did mastermode, realized faster then light u gotta avoid those goblins pointless to fight them. Got majora's mask and its ez mode from there on.
Master mode is so annoying at the beginning but later on when you can defeat golden lynels with ease, you begin to feel like a boss 😎
Great video! You summed master mode up perfectly!
i just got back into botw and was thinking of master mode ur vid was great in making me wanna dive into it again bro
I just went through all of the soulsborne games on my break and I can say it’s because of the effort I put into this game on master when it came out
If there’s one thing I can give Master Mode credit for, it’s much easier to get rich.
Hardcore fallout was so freaking good, im not even a glutton for pain but that game made planning my routes and rationing water somehow a fun puzzle it was how the game was meant to be played so many extra layers I hope master mode is like that
On a scale of good too great led zeppelin songs I give this a "gallows pole"
14:28 this bit is all wrong, there is a hidden level mechanic that levels up your world and the monsters that appear and weapons you can collect all get stronger as you gain the hidden XP, look it up, it's a thing.
The enemies get stronger and the weapons. But not link himself. Therefor I don’t think it really counts as a level up system.
An amazing video man 😭 wHAT IS THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG IN THE OUTRO
Imma do it, idk why, maybe I like pain but imma play mastermode on wii u for extra hard mode at 20 fps.

So glad this video exists! Was just about to restart breath of the wild wanted to make the best use of my time :)
Hey thanks now I know what to do
Normal mode for sure
My ideal hard mode for this game would be:
.Can only fast travel to a shrine one time
.Food doesn’t naturally heal you, unless you make meals with the extra hearts buff
If you health is under less than half you can’t run, only jog
The only way you can naturally heal besides extra heart meals you have to sleep at ins or beds
Really awesome video man. Just got into Master Mode myself and I’m having a blast.
I think the unwritten rule for master mode as ive done it before is get 13 heart containers get the master sword, upgrade it via trials to 60 power and seriously the game becomes a breeze after
Excellent, and entertaining, review, thank you!
13:53 have any elemental type weapon. Hit it once then switch to another weapon amd wail on it. Rinse and repeat. When it does its final charge shot get your strongest heavy weapon, charge swing and pray.
Very nice video mate! The commentary was hilarious 😂
Crazy good vid, been a while since I laugh and enjoyed a yt vid like this
I just went straight to Ganon without freeing the Divine Beasts in Master Mode and after getting a fully upgraded Barbarian Set.
Oh and I’m playing Master Mode 2 years after I beat the original game like 95% complete.
one of the best videos ive ever watched
subbing af
I appreciate the work you put into this 😂
This video does a great analysis of Master Mode.
This is the best UA-cam video I’ve seen in a while keep it up dog.
Great video, man! Had a lot of fun watching and was very informative as well! Keep it up!
