- Senate candidate Kari Lake has made calls to state lawmakers to push for the repeal of Arizona's Civil War-era abortion ban, according to a Republican legislator who spoke about receiving a call from her. I live in Kansas - the first state where the population voted FOR the freedom end an unwanted pregnancy. Would someone please explain to me why a law adopted in 1864 by a territorial legislature, elected (?) only by men, takes precedence over a law passed by the AZ state legislature very recently? I still don't agree with the 15 week ban passed by the AZ legislature, but at least it was adopted by a legislature in the 21st Century when women can vote. I read that AZ raised the age of consent to 18, and not 10, as it was designated by the territorial government. So why go back to an abortion ban passed in 1864?
And no one cannot trust a Republican on abortion rights or a whole bunch of issues!
