Dobyns 734C vs Lews TP1 Black Review Bass Fishing

- I have to say I enjoy both the Dobyns 733C and the 734C as well as the TP1 Black rods by Lew, but everyone has their pros and cons when it comes to fishing applications. Dont get me wrong, both Dobyns and Lew's are still on my boat for good reasons as I stated in my review, when it comes to bass fishing. This review may help someone decide on which bass fishing rod they should buy.
(Best Jig Rod) Lew’s TP1 Black 7’ MH: amzn.to/3F7nJWx
Lew's Tournament MP LFS Reel: amzn.to/3qj14CJ
Dobyns 734C: amzn.to/32XrZer
These rods can both be used for jig fishing for big bass. The Dobyns rod vs the Lew's rod has been a challenge for me to decide which is better for my applications. The TP1 Black has won that battle for a jig rod application. - Спорт
Dobyns 5 power rods are my favorite. 735 fury being the bang for the buck Texas rig/jig/frog rod.
I like it for 3/8 to 3/4 primarily. The warranty service is good and the rods balance better then most with any reel.
I need to give those a try. Thanks for the advice and helpful information
@@GTX10 You're Welcome. Keep the vids coming
I have the TP1 black with the Pro MP as well! lol I was just thinking about getting the 734C but I was glad to hear your comparison! Thanks for clearing this up! Subbed!
Thank you, glad I could help. Thanks for your support!
Bro! I know you’re probably too young to remember the Alfred Hitchcock movie “The Birds” but yeah….i’m getting that kind of vibe while listening to that raucous! BTW, that was a great comparison! As a returning rookie angler, I look forward to checking out your content!
I actually have seen parts of that movie, but it was a little creepy out there with that many birds. If there is anything you would like me to discuss in a video, please let me know!
For anyone interested in getting into Dobyns
_Actual_ rod power ratings:
6 power is extra heavy
5 power is heavy
4 power is medium heavy
3 power is medium
2 power is medium light
1 power is light
0 power is ultra light
everything is 1 power down from what it says. the lure rating when compared to other brands is more helpful. I think they are some of the best rods, maybe not as sensitive or flashy as other big brands. But they are ALWAYS balanced(even their 806 swimbait rod) and the Fuji reel seat they always use is simple and comfortable for working baits long hours(like a frog, jerkbait, etc). Skeleton reel seats(like most Lews) offer nothing for comfort, and the extra sensitivity marketing is bogus. What difference there may be is not going to be detectable by our human hands(in my opinion of course). That sensitivity ring could very well enhance feel, I haven't tried the TP1 black, only the original that didn't have that, but it's an interesting little addition.
Thanks for the information!!
Had owned Lews for many years. After customer service episode I wont again. Dobyns for the win
I agree i have a few of both
Do you recall if the tpi black in this video is the 7'2" MH jig rod? I have the 7'3" all purpose and feels like a mod fast so was looking at maybe getting the slightly shorter if it was a faster action.
It is a MH, but not specific to Jig
New subscriber, and really enjoying your channel. I'm a longtime spinning fisherman, going to try bait casting for the first time this year. Can you recommend a good general purpose 'beginner' bait casting combo ? Simple to use, and less than $120 for both ? Wanted to get your thoughts...Thanks and keep up the good work !!!
I appreciate the support and always looking forward to helping others. I will be probably making a video on this soon. General purpose rod: Lew's carbon fire 7' MH, KastKing Perigee II 7' MH. Reel: Kastking Royale Legend II. This is a good starting point until you move further up in quality. If you have a moment, I have a playlist that show some helpful tips to getting started with a baitcaster. Thank you
@@GTX10 Thanks for the suggestions, will research them !!
@@gerard2620 no problem at all
Dobyns would make a very good crankbait rod. That bend would be perfect in my opinion.
Yes indeed. Perfect crankbait rod.
Suggestion: You might check out the Airrus line of rods.
I havnt heard of that before, thanks.
I couldnt help but laugh at the birds! I made a video a couple years ago the EXACT same thing happened. Its hard to stay focused! enjoyed the video. Where you from? 1st video of yours Ive seen
Thanks for watching, and yes the birds kind of freaked me out. I am from southern Maryland, hbu?
@@GTX10 East TN (Chickamauga)
@@RockyTopSplash Nice, heard its good fishing out there
@@GTX10 TN has always been good bass fishing because of the river system.. but chickamauga gets so much pressure! It's honestly unbelievable how many boats are on this lake in 1 week. It fishes very small also even though on paper you would think it's huge
@@RockyTopSplash oh wow, figured it would be enough room to play for everyone, lol
Any good value baitcasting 2 piece ? I hate 1 piece for travel :/
Kastking has some good 2 piece on Amazon
Loved the TP1 Black.....until I snapped it on a fish at the brush pile smh
Oh wow, I know that sucked. Did you still get the fish?
Does the lews rod collapse into 2 pieces?
No it does not.
Oh they will. And they have crap for a warranty
