- Here's one way to animate a lightning strike. I'll animate more ways in the future, but experiment with this idea until then, have a play around with shapes and timing!

@@DanRootAnimTute did you now there was a tool in flash cs6 that could draw this effect already. yet in a more realistic style. The tool could draw this and animate it at the same time if you toggled the animation button. too bad the the creative cloud version does not have this tool anymore. i used it yesterday and then just copied the frames to the creative cloud project. it works perfectly. I hope they add thjis tool back in at some point.
8:55 You can add filters only when you have converted the frames into movie clips. You can do this by selecting the frames one by one and clicking F8 key, Selecting the type 'Movie Clip', and then Clicking 'OK' (Do this for all the frames) . Then only you can find the 'Filters' option under the 'Properties' tab, when you have selected the frame, which you have converted.
Note- We can't convert blank frames/keyframes into movie clips.

@@clarancemichael156 Are you on the correct frame? You can tinker with the settings, maybe see if it's too small or something.
Are you really using Animate or is it just for this Video? I always struggle with Animate because I find the brush inaccurate and the program sometimes does weird things. Is that just me or do other people have these problems aswell?

Animate is generally known for being a unreliable, yeah. It sucks, but I don't often have any problems with it. It's fine for being so cheap.

so why when you switch between frames your previous lightning flash disappears but mine doesnt? are you operating in the symbol layer? it looks like your just constructing this on the stage layer
Hey thanks for this video. What do you mean by "increase the exposure of this frame" when youre referring to the keyframe at the beginning of the lightning.
Hi, so I mean if the drawing is lasting for 1 frame, 2 frames, 3 frames etc.
