    I put a set of brass pins on a blueridge br-140 just because one plastic pin had been demolished by the privious owner. Man was I in for a surprise. Sounded like a different guitar. Sustain volume and brightness was 100 percent better. Definitely worth the money.

    A really fantastic demo, letting the sound speak. Wise banjo players already know sound transfer to create great tone is EVERYTHING. So why not guitarists?

    WOW, if you go straight from one example to the next ( plastic to titanium or brass) the difference is, to me, undeniable. I’ve been leery to try different bridge pins because there’s a lot of debate about whether it even makes a difference. After hearing what sounds to me to be an obvious difference I’m inclined to give the brass pins a try. Just the sheer increase in volume is impressive but the sound really opened up with the upgraded pins.

    The titanium seems like more control for cord change and brass sound keeps ringing ..but yes way better than plastic..nice job..

      Thanks for the feedback Rob! I fell that the Ti has a certain note separation and clarity to it. I have also mixed brass and Ti on a 12 string. Experiment - see what you come up with!

    Not to be argumentative, but that guitar sounds fantastic! Boomy where it needs to be, and crystalline where it needs to be. Irrespective of the pin material- the tone is magnificent, my friend.Woody, natural, and singing. Thank for sharing. How are the Von York electrics?

    • @FloydUpgrades
      @FloydUpgrades  6 років тому +1

      Thanks Alex! I like the Von York strings! Strings are very selective, I always suggest trying different flavors. It is an easy and no too expensive leap of faith. I have put certain strings on and clipped them right off in the past. I have also found great strings by doing this. I put Von York on the site because I really liked them. Give them a shot - let me know what you think!

      Actually Taylor does use a different material for the bridge pins on their higher end guitars, ebony. I don’t know if it’s for sound enhancement or simply aesthetics and a sense of a quality materials but you won’t find a higher end Taylor with plastic bridge pins in it. I have no idea about other guitar makers except Breedlove who doesn’t even use bridge pins. I think Lowden also does not use bridge pins.

    ..so brass or titanium?? ...which do you prefer ?...thx

    • @FloydUpgrades
      @FloydUpgrades  6 років тому +1

      It depends on the guitar. It also depends on your personal preference. You really can't make a mistake... They both sound way better than plastic! I kept brass in the Tama guitar. Try a set - let me know you you like them! Adam~

      Hi Adam, how goes? On my HD28, the saddle is titanium. It works like you said. Everyone I watch that plays my guitar reacts the same way! No one sees the saddle but wonders how this sound can come out of it without amp. But I will say it took six days to make the saddle. My son helped with tedious effort. Im happy. Oh, by the way, same factory pins.

    It'd be nice to hear without compression.

    • @FloydUpgrades
      @FloydUpgrades  5 років тому +2

      No compression - just 2 mics on the guitar and one lapel mic for vocal. You should try them, if you don't like them you can send them back.

    • @leonardtristan6873

      I agree with you it sounds like there's compression, especially on the brass demo, notes don't bloom like that naturally.
      It might come from limiting at some part of the digitalising process, for example some function like ''overload protection'' within a DAW or an output that exceeds 0db and forces UA-cam's algorithm to apply compression etc...
      FU-TONE let me please tell you respectfully that you should be able to identify the sound of compression on this video, it is really not subtle. All in all it isn't a big deal but many things can cause compression, not using a compression plugin doesn't mean it's uncompressed. Again, Respectfully.
      By the way your bridge pins sounded pretty good.
      Cheers

    Thanks for the demo. Changing bridge pins to make a guitar sound better is probably one of the most debated theories when it comes to a guitar. I spent about an hour yesterday speaking with a guitar tech that has been doing this job for over 30 years. His opinion is that the pins are designed to hold the strings in place and nothing more. He felt that changing plastic pins to wood or brass is a cosmetic change and if people want to believe it makes the guitar sound better, God bless them. He strongly feels that this is all hyped by the manufactures of the pins to get you to pay $20.00 for a set of pins instead of $6.00 for the plastic. Then he made the obvious point. He said that selling guitars is a very competitive market and when they are being sold, the manufactures are using whatever materiel that will make their guitar sound the best. The fact that a $2,000 can have plastic bridge pins makes the obvious point. If wood or brass pins would really make their guitar sound better, they would have used them.

    • @FloydUpgrades
      @FloydUpgrades  5 років тому +8

      Hey Bob - thanks for the comments. I respectfully disagree with this tech. I would tell him, you and anyone asking the question "does it work?" - Try it and draw your own conclusion. A lot of my clients, especially my pro guys, are very particular about tone. I have them play their guitar with stock pins, I change the pins and have them play again. I have never had anyone go back to the stock pins. Players like: Phil Collen, Nancy Wilson, Don Felder and many others. A plastic pin does not resonate, it absorbs vibration. Resonate material like brass or titanium push the vibration back out into the guitar. You are not hearing the pin, you are hearing more of your guitar. All FU-Tone products are 100% satisfaction guaranteed, so I say - try them, see if you like them.
