My man was just chilling the entire Greek Mythology, watching his younger siblings writhe havoc in the world while he just longed for Persephone and petted his Cerberus and watched over the dead and ruled fairly over them
He is the definition of " sure its underworld but ,we have law and order"
Hades just needs a hug man
Hollywood scriptwriters are really to lazy to properly research about Greek mythology and throw poor Hades under the bus just because he's the God of the underworld 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
True, Hades is actually the most chill of the greek gods.
Persephone is actually the scary one according to the greek mythology.
Hades is a most definitely misunderstood, he is just a big boy with a good heart. He gives seconds chances but puts rules on them.
Hades didn't force her to stay, she spent spring and summer on earth and winter and autumn in the underworld. Also, the story of Orpheus trying to retrieve Eurydice from the underworld showcases Hades soft spot for love AND his unswerving commitment to justice
Despite his appearance, Hades is the most fair minded and mature member of his family. He's not like his brothers and sisters who are the complete opposites and is willing to listen to those who seek his help rather than get mad or jealous of someone else.
Hades:is the chillest Greek mythology god man just sits on his thrown 24/7 just looking at a paper that shows all the dead people while Zeus is raping girls and posidean just sleeping
Fun fact, the greeks were sorta scared of Hades on basic principle. He was the one who could make their eternity highly unpleasant after all.
But he was afforded great respect as well, usually referred to as Stalwart Hades, i.e. loyal, reliable and hard-working.
Meanwhile Persephone, nowadays thought of as some kind of flower goddess, was known as Dread Persephone, when they dared say her name at all. Usually she was just referred to with titles because they were bloody terrified of attracting her attention. Straight up "She who must not be named" stuff.
Overly Sarcastic Productions did a great video on it a while back. Can recommend.
@UCBq0S16q4OF9bLBn3ouZhNw Pretty much, although since she was primarily worshipped by mystery cults that were highly secretive, we don't actually know why people were so scared. There's even signs that Persephone and Demeter are based on a pair of *really* old and kinda eldritch goddesses that predate the greek entirely, kinda like Pan.
Needless to say, the modern idea of Persephone as some dainty delicate flower is missing just a tad of the original story.
Hades has two rules that set him different from his Younger Brothers
1. No Rapes
2. Don't cross him
Yes, and his policy towards mortals is very different from other gods if for the gods. If for other gods mortals are only tools and toys, then Hades does not care about them, because each of them will become his subjects in the future
The god of death in Greek Mythology is qctually Thanatos. Hades is also the most wealthy of the Greek gods because of all the treasures in the Earth (gold and diamonds, ect) and he's also not considered a Olypian since he's the ruler of the Underworld. But as q fellow introvert than can also be misunderstood I'm #TeamHades
Factz
Well Hades is the second richest since there is literally a god of wealth that Zeus blinded way back when
I think the wealth association may have come with the Romans and their conversion of his name to Pluto. And that is how we get the word "plutocracy" I believe
He's also rich from death tributes (coins used to pay Charon's fare.) Hades' position in Greek myths poised him to act like Hel during Ragnarok: Take his legions of the dead from the beginning of time and overthrow everything, bringing the end of the world ( although if the Greeks had an end of the world myth, I don't know it.) My point is that he's also the richest God in the number of subjects in his kingdom.

They do.
Ares, Demios and Phobos attack with their legions on Mount Olympus, seeing they may die Zeus asked his son what he wanted and Ares said for the gods to no longer enter the mortal affairs and close the gates(doors) to the human world and Zeus does passing a law that no god is to ever cross to humans
Hades sings to cerberus ( the three headed dog) and if that isn't sweet ..idk what is.
He loves him to death. Pun intended
Hades is the most relatable god in Greece probably. Loves his dog, can’t put up with his little brothers shit, chill af and a loving husband. When Persephone was in the underworld and ate half a pomegranate, Demeter threatened Hades by saying she will bring the worst season Earth has seen so that they will all die and underworld will be overfilled and hades just said “Do it, I’ll send them all back to Elysium and I mean all of them.”

He only cheated with minthe, which eventually made Persephone turn minthe into the first mint plant, so we kinda have to thank hades for that
Wasn't a main point of that story that Hades did in fact NOT want to have sex with Minthe because he was married?
But her being a crazy stalker she wouldn't take no for an answer. So Persephone straight up murders her, because she got fed up with her trying to steal her husband.
Out of all the Gods, Hades is the most fair and good. As long as you do your part of the deal then he will help you. Perfect example was him letting Hercules have Cerberus help him as long as he doesn't hurt Cerberus.
In the case of Persephone, sure at the beginning it was against her will but Hades ended up making a garden for her in the Underworld and in the end gave her a choice to leave to stop Demeter from neglecting her duties if Persephone doesn't come back with her. In the end it was Persephone who decided to divide her time between the Underworld and Olympus.
He doesn't go around tricking others to do his bidding or forcing himself to others.
Hades after being made a bad guy from modern film despite literally being the most sane God out of the three brothers: *Sad cat thumbs up*
You can always mess up ruling the land of the living, but you can't when it comes to ruling the land of the dead. Thus Hades accepted the task of doing it knowing both his brothers were a**holes.
Actually you absolutely CAN mess up ruling the Greek underworld (also called Hades).
It's Hades job to make sure the souls get to the right places in Hades. Heroes in one pile to Elysium etc.
Oh yeah and make sure people/titans escape Tartarus the torture prison of Hades
@@SpectralKnight i think they meant messing up the ruling of the living is not as bad as messing up the rule of the dead, so Hades takes the responsibility himself.
He never had a choice, he grew into his position, and one might say the stress and busy work of his job kept him out of trouble more then the other 2
The thing is Hades is loved by heroes in the Greek myth because 90% of the time he would help them without having them to give him a gift or something, while the other gods and goddesses expect u to burn a city or sacrifice thousands of slaves as an offering so that they can send some wind up to show they support the kings or queen
Also Hades is the strongest god in Olympus because when Ares waged war against Olympus, zues and the rest of god's couldn't do anything as they were not in their full power because of how they spend their time raping women and children while Hades was honing his skills in the underworld anyway, when Hades swore to destroy Olympus Hades approached him and told him to creat a peace treaty with zues or else Hades himself would wage war against Ares with his army of the dead and seeing how Ares most powerful soldiers were from Hades army frightened him and thus Olympus was at peace but no gods could come down
A question about the last part, in which story by which author did that happen? I've been seeing similar comments on other video, but I can't find any actual myth where something like this happens O.o

@@theidiotictroublemaker2281 Please, give me a source and/or an author, everything I've found yet are weird misconceptions due to pop culture like Wrath of the Titans and Blood of Zeus. Additionally there weren't any notes on Theoi or similar websites; besides that, the Greek worldview was a cyclical one, so there wouldn't be any end, but just repeating the same things again and again in different contexts (Ouranos is overthrown by his son Cronus, Cronus is overthrown by Zeus, Appollo tries to overthrow him with the help of some other gods, etc.).
Yes, I agree to Hades being misunderstood. Is it on going or completed?
Hades literally drew the short straw and got stuck with the underworld, but imagine if the roles were swapped or something, Like Hades got the sky, Poseidon got the underworld and Zeus got the sea
Honestly, I can't imagine what will happen to the underworld if Poseidon will rule over it and Zeus the seas. Man, floods all over the world and unfair treatment in the underworld for all of eternity sucks. And also there are some texts that states that Hades chose the underworld to guard their father who is locked in tartarus, the deepest part of the underworld, and maybe he already knew how f*cked up the Olympians are gonna be so he chose not to associate with them too much lol.
Underworld would be as you all think
Hades is already obvious now but one thing i wonder is would this affect Hera mentality or she still gonna be with Zeus
As for Undersea...best case scenario is Zeus got to banged whatever aquatic creating all day because there's so many animals down there at worst scenario would be He could ambush and dragging woman to underwater

Fun fact: Hades did actually get the better deal when it came to what he and his brothers ended up with; Hades was Kronos' first born male, and as the first Titan born male god, the entire world is in fact his by birthright, even if it takes some time for his subjects to present themselves before him.

@@LordePhantom yes he can't rule the entire Earth. Just the part on the top.
Earth is not ruled by anyone. It's common across all the gods. The brothers will only interfere when some god or demigod is causing too much troubles on Earth
No offense but Hera and Hades would make a good fit Zeus kind of just saved him
He was respected too, people were afraid of mentioning his name because it would presumably draw his attention and your death would become more likely.
He is like the moon supreme of the moon tribe in love between the fairy and devil.
Actually, persephone DIDN'T choose to spend her time in the underworld. First, Hades was tricked into kidnapping her after getting bad advice, then one of his servants tricked her into eating the food of the underworld (the same boy she turned into a snake who was then stepped on and killed...all because he thought she was beautiful) And when Hades informed Zues about this, he decided that she would spend part of each year in the underworld because of that. So no, she doesn't willingly return to the underworld each year...she does it by Zues' command. And we ALL know what happens if you disregard something Zues has explicitly told you to do it no uncertain terms. But, that's really the ONLY bad thing Hades has ever done. And it was all because he was given bad advice. The servant acted on his own because he wanted revenge against persephone. He wasn't acting on orders from Hades. So had PERSEPHONE not been such a bitch, she wouldn't have to spend part of each year in the underworld...that's on HER, not Hades.
We already knew this in Record of Ragnarok manga. He loved his family no matter how cruel they are to his family, even to mortals and he only loved *ONE* woman.
This is how I see The three brothers

He kidnapped her but she was almost instantly taken aback by hades gigachad personality and said screw it.
Also, it was Zeus who told him to kidnap her. He didn't have much experience with women and asked Zeus for help. Zeus then gave him bad advice

So as a compromise because Persephone ate the fruit of the underworld and couldn’t technically return, Hades allowed her to visit her mother for 6 months out of the year. But besides that last part spot on video mates.
I mean Demeter did literally blackmail Zeus by threatening to let all of humanity die.
Zeus then had to step in and be like:
Hey bro, I know I kinda shafted you on the whole domain thing, but could you do me a solid? Could you let your wife leave even though she broke the clearly defined rules about food from the underworld?
Hades is definitely better than the other gods but he kidnapped persephone, gave her a pomegranate and didn't tell her that if she ate it she couldn't leave so she ate it and got stuck the only reason her time is divided is because hemes wanted to help her so argued that she only ate half then she was given time above and below but in that hades is the only other three brothers who kept his promise of not having children with mortals tho he kinda can't have kids but he has one singular child and thats all, meanwhile posiden and Zeus decided to explore every loophole turning into animals, roman forms and a few others I don't remember
The kidnapped was zeuses fault, and she was Givin the food from one of his servents not on his command
When I think about it.... Hades did make sure that he manage the underworld. If he did not, the myth should have mention many undead, and ghosts..
Hades is literally the most amazing! He never deserved his fate!
He’s like a Greek Severus Snape.
@@bruhtnt4258 lmao yes
Persephone was in love with hades and hades wasn't forcing her to stay. The myth goes that persephone, daughter of dimitra the God of food, was kidnapped by hades because he loved her but since dimitra was sad no food could go. So persephone went 6 months to hades and 6 to her mother. So that explains the change of the seasons warm when persephone is with dimitra and cold when she is with hades. ( a story from a Greek)
As they say all “bad” guys have a past and some are misunderstood
Meanwhile Hades in God of War franchise:
Yeah...he and his wife died by kratos..just like rest of his family
Persephone actually loved Hades and wanted to stay with him forever but was so emotionally abused she was forced to leave by her manipulative and controlling mother.
Persephone: *waiting for role call*
Teacher: Presefoney?
Persephone: That’s me!
Hades is like the cool uncle
So the person we call the guardian of hell was more loyal than the god of the sky and sea
that’s what i said cause he’s always viewed as evil cause he’s the embodiment of death and ruler of the underworld or hades 😂💯!!
PS- He’s always loving caring and pretty nice so yea not evil like movies and people tend to think jus a good sweet man that happens to basically be death
Sheesh hade's a true chad,respect🗿
Bro I love your content and it matches up with the Percy Jackson Greek gods nice job bro
Persephone did not choose to go to the underworld in winter hades tricked her into eating 6 pomegranet seeds and hades kidnapping her is not a theory its the Canon for all non-modern adaption versions
Thank you for saying this bc that was driving me nuts
That's why some stories have her go with him willingly while other stories have her kidnapped helped by Zeus
Persephone didn't choose to split her time. Hades tricked her into eating underworld fruit just before she left to visit her mother. The thing about underworld food, once you have a single bite, ot is the only type of food that you can sustain yourself with
didn't the custom of the time is when you had a visitor in your house show a hospitality like offer them food or water
It's depend on how many seed she ate
One Seed per Month
Welp, we all know what would Zeus and Poseidon do if they are on the same situation. They would just r*ape her and imprison her for eternity.
That ain't how most versions go though.
Most simply have her eat half the fruit on her own. Persephone then stays in Hades for a while. But her mother got too sad she couldn't see her daughter that often.
Then her mother starts yelling at Zeus. And threatens to make harvests fail thus killing all the humans.
Zeus then brokers a deal wherein Persephone stays in the underworld some of the time, and visits family some of the time.
At some point Persephone and Hades decided to get married.
"Who is the most misunderstood creature in greek mythology?"
Medusa.
I’ve read Hades gave Persephone a pomegranate seed from the underworld binding her there for three months a year. This accounts for Demeter’s creation of winter I believe.
Yeah her mother apparently gets super depressed without her daughter doing constant moral support
Meanwhile, Hestia, literally the Goddess of the Hearth:
Not truly misunderstood tho
Plus she's a goddess, not god
Technically, Hades is the richest of all three, coz all minerals and expensive rocks are in the underworld. He is loyal to his wife, and owns a dog! Beat that!
Yeah. I know enough about Hades that he was just misunderstood. He would be a great bro to spend your time with.
People call hades scary when he’s prob a sweetheart
