Tulip Thermo Rod Pocket Roman Blind Tape Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- My usual method is to form Roman blind rod pockets by creating folds in the lining itself and then hand sewing on rings and/or child safe compliant breakaway rings. Occasionally I use sew on tape for more contract work or if I need to save time on large jobs or where the client has a smaller budget. I was intrigued therefore, when I saw this new Thermo Rod Pocket from Tulip Blinds Ltd which, rather than being sewn on, fixes to the lining by way of a heat activated polymer glue. I like the idea that the lining can be cut, prepared, marked out and taped up all without leaving the table using this tape so I thought I'd give it a try.
I'm making a Roman blind for an updated Integral Return video so thought it would be a good opportunity to try the tape too. This is an entirely independent review and I am not affiliated to Tulip Blinds.
Here's a link to the tape on the Tulip Blinds website which is a trade supplier. Home users will need to find a local curtain and blind maker who can order the tape for them.

Brilliant. I just ordered some of this and was really disappointed with the double line of bonding. Didn’t occur to me to take one off. You are amazing as always.
Where there's a will there's a way 😁👍... and thank you for your kind comment 😍
Thank you for this. Weird thing I noticed. I use tape and I have always stitched it along the top edge. I noticed that you attached the adhesive tape along the bottom edge, which makes so much sense NOW - after over ten years in the trade you can still get a ‘wtf’ moment lol 😆.
😂😂😂 Yes, we're ALWAYS learning
Very useful. Will look at buying it
Great explanation again. Thank you. ❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video.
Many thanks for this. I’ve now managed to make my first, very large central blind for a bay window. Really pleased with the pocket tape but should probably have started with a smaller blind to get the hang of it. It looks generally very good, but there’s a bit of bagging on the bottom-most panel from the facing fabric. I can’t bring myself to start again. Can you suggest anything I might try to mitigate it. It doesn’t look awful-but I see it every time I look! I’ve used heavy ticking for the face fabric, a natural cotton interlining and a blackout lining with three rows of tape and three cords.
Hi Al, sorry I've only just responded to your comment, I must have missed it when you first posted.
Anyway, what usually causes bagging is not having the lines of locking in matching through from front to back. How did you lock the 3 layers together?
Wow! That’s a game changer! Thank you so much x
😀👍
It looks really good and I’ll give it a try but if you’ve sealed both ends using the polymer, how do you insert the rods? Have a missed something ? Probably! 🙄
Yes you missed it 😁.... Have a look from 1:38 in. You'll see the rod pocket has openings along the length so you can slide the rod in from the top rather than from the ends 🙂👍
@@WindmillCurtainRoom Got it! Thanks. 😊
Thank you for all your good tips. Where can I buy this tape from ?
Hi Magda, it's from a trade supplier called Tulip Blinds in Ireland. Contact them and they'll send you a sample to try.
