You saved my little boy from having an upset Dad! He'd pushed in the tweeter dome on my Q Acoustic 3090 centre speaker. I just went straight to the mouth suction and it came straight out. Thank you so much.
From SC, thank you for the idea of sucking the dome out. Masking tape, toilet paper roll and straw did not work but getting intimate did! The things we do for our sound system!
With no plastic straws to hand (they appear to be phasing them out) I went straight in with the intimate kiss approach...it worked a treat😆 This is why we need You Tube. Many thanks...
Brilliant technique lol. It worked. You have made me smile. Thank you. I gently used a cotton bud to move the dent but had crease line. Now to check if its easy to repair a snapped positive speaker terminal on the back of a mission m50 speaker. Thanks again. Great
0:32 It's nearly a hundred years since the cone loudspeaker was invented and this is still not a crime in most countries... The worst part is that you walk into an electronics shop and see new speakers that have been vandalised like that - in some case intentionally, so that the culprit can buy them at a knock-down price.
People do weird things. Some over-eat until they weigh 500 pounds. Others have a compulsion to push in dome tweeters. And ebay sellers say "don't worry, it doesn't affect the sound". I put my speaker grills on whenever company comes over.
Magic kiss :-) Had this issue with the center dome of my midrange conus. Tried the straw, no vacuum at all. I did expect that, as that one was a cloth like structure, impregnated. Not a flat surface, no vacuum. Took a deep breath, and more or less drilled a very thin pin through, then turned it onto a good angle with the dome cover and pulled it out. Saved my AR66BX, which got a bit too much attention of our youngest...
If I had not seen that, I would not have believed it. One learns a new thing every day! Most people are unaware of the fact that damaged drivers are repairable (in nearly all cases except catastrophic fire/crushing). So an old tweeter that has a dent like here or an open coil simply gets tossed when it is still repairable (at a price commensurate with the quality of the service rendered and materials used of course).
I was the chief tweeter sucker when I worked in a hifi shop. It was nearly always the Royd speakers that were attacked. Perhaps the Mission rep heard that I always tried to sell Royd over Mission and was engaged in a little sabotage!
Suction by your mouth works sometimes, just make sure the speaker is cleaned. You dont want to breath in any dust. I'd rather simply put a sticky dot of Glue Dots on the tip of my finger, gently press it on the SIDE of the hole and quickly yank/pull it out. It works easily every time for us. We have a electronic and speaker repair shop for a number of years here in Miami.
My speaker domes used to get squashed when I had kids. Now I have grandchildren they get pushed in again ! 🙄 I used a vacuum cleaner to sort mine out both 2 decades ago, and last year 😂
ive used a sliver of scotch or masking tape and just pull it straight back quickly...works better and way easier than this straw methode...start with a 5-10mm wide piece of tape gently stick it on using a qtip to push on it a bit to get it to grip...then just pull with one swift move/....voila just like new!
Maybe You can go underneath? And simply use your little finger. You must dissamble the tweeter first. And go over the surface gently using your fingernails to clean any dent. Then it look brand new.

🤣 Same boat here with my daughter and her dad's studio monitors!

Never thought i'd be doing mouth-to-cone resuscitation on my speakers... here we go 😂
Taking audiophile to a whole new level! Great vid sir ❤
I think I will ask my wife to give it a try. She is an expert!
Didn't think I'd see a guy suck on a speaker today, but here we are 😂 thanks for the tip mate
Absoluttely brilliant! I gave my tweeter mouth-to-mouth and the dome popped right back out. 😮
Fantastic!
I felt a bit awkward "kissing" the collapsed tweeter dome of by Jamo speaker but it actually worked fine! Thanks Sir!
I'm going to the stereo shop to help them out, just to get the looks, without the straw of course. Thanks, I tried it and worked.

I hope the missus doesn't walk in on you kissing those tweeters haha!

I used a pin. I'm left with a tiny hole but now the tweeter has gone completely. I hope it isn't the crossover. Great job 😉
The kiss of life for a tweeter.
Just had success using nano tape on my woofer dust cap! Really enjoying your videos btw. Thanks
The kiss of life from Kelvin.
😇

Kissing tweet was very intimate and it worked😅 Thanks so much for this video.

If you had told me this morning that I'd see someone do this I'd have said you were crazy. Good to know though!
"you got an inny and an outy"
great tip

I've never seen anyone make love to a tweeter like you just did right there. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar
KEF Coda speakers ! I have the same, but build in '72. They sound amazing. 🤩
They got something good about them for sure
Hi, nicely done! Would these methods apply to a paper pulp material? I have a JBL L100 tweeter I would like to pull. Greatly appreciate your feedback.
Well I don’t know, but I think personally I would try that first
I have also managed in the past with a hoover on low power/setting if that helps 😊
I'll use this technique but with a tube just big enough to cover the complete dent.
Thanks for the guidance.
We'll I just did it with a tapered rubber tip on my Stinger & it worked like a charm!
Thanks again
That earned you another subscriber! Thx Mate.
Hope you can keep making more videos. Always great ! Respect Sir.
This is more for soft dome tweeters, what about ridgid ones like aluminium and titianium?
Instead of direct mouth to speaker, I've found toilet roll works.
I can just imagine the wife asking you what the f are you doing kissing the tweets? 😂
Amazing never knew this! Thanks
If you have any dents left over go over with a hair dryer you can get fairly hot
Love is the Solution !
What is it is a hard metallic dome?
I’ve done that one myself before and also used a bit of masking tape also when the sucking didn’t work.
Very funny, regards and thanks for video...
i have used a vacuum cleaner with a sock over it to cut down on the vacuum start with a heavy sock and work your way thinner.
Marvellous!
Excellent Thanks
I tried it with the t27 tweeters but at the end the vacuumcleaner could do the job very well
A little kiss and it's like new!
I have always use a hoover.
That's cracy! I wouldn't dare.
@@Ronnymikkonen2686 I use to work in a repair centre they all used a hoover.
HAVE USED A VACCUUM CLEANER FOR YEAR - ALWAYS WORKS - BEST TO USE ON THAT HAS A POWER CONTROL !!
use a contactlens remover/suction tool from the optician. Wet it a little. Works fabulously.
I would not believe it if I hadn't just seen it!
better than David copper field
No tongue?
just genius!!
The kiss of the live
sucking good yea...eazy way use a wiring tape or double side tape
Kissing the speakers ❤😊

And you're the weirdo down the street that kisses tweeters!!!! Hahaha
use a vacuum cleaner :) we did it always on our workplace ( high end store ) lol when 'clients' womand and ...........child were coming with 'him' lol
brilliant!
Remove magnet and push out from underneath... U can't suck out metal domes
Duct tape always works on metal tweeters.
You can use a bit of cellophane tape and pull.
I don't think that will work on aluminum cap. Aluminum cap is much harder than other materials used for center caps!
It wont
@@stereoreviewx Duct tape works, though.

What if the tweeters are a hard material
I guess you mean metal
God I don’t know suck really hard It can’t be that thick K
i always prefer to suck hard material
@@stereoreviewx , like Aluminum?
WOW 🤩
Doesn't work, cone shape, cannot get mouth to it...
Can't do this, I have a plastic bar in the way.
Oooh baby 😂
If I was 16 and my mom saw me doing that. . .
I just use The Force
You might have got ferro fluid in your mouth ? lol
The wife has to love you. 😜
😆
Suction magic! One take!
