A great slot until the Spitfire deadsticked in the worst position on a down wind pass and landed in the trees. On recovery damage looked repairable but such a shame.

no wonder why some builders opt for an electric setup, petrol never sound right to me i prefer to have a 4 stroke glow powered engine like a laser 180 that would be a great engine for this model.

Was she repaired? God, how I hate seeing magnificent models like that crash. So much work, so much attention to detail, so much money. I could never be a RC pilot. I couldn't take the strain. Instead of deriving pleasure, I would be a nervous wreck.

+Adrian Larkins Well buy a cheaper model. You must afford to lose it :)

Adrian. The hobby is** character building** as my mother used to say when I came home bemoaning the loss of **another** model. **Mend it or build another ** she`d say………..

Gutted...I saw him come through the trade area in his car carrying the wreckage in the boot.

Definitley was not a write off Oliver. Top sheeting had been ripped off, internal structure looked OK. But one elevator stab had been ripped off totally. If the guy built it he'll have the skills to repair it fairly quickly I would think. Could have been a lot worse.

Yet another show with a non-stop motor-mouth on the PA. Awful.

HeavensGremlin Yup...unfortunatley not something I can extract from the sound. What is mildly worse is when I'm filming a jet or nice slow quiet model from the flight line and then the 3D 100CC boys start up and rev the nuts out of their engines. Ugh!

Yes, it's infuriating. I was at Old Warden last Sunday week, and there was a real motormouth on the PA who only shut up once the whole afternoon...!

I don't know why they tried to go around when it went by the first time, I'd been bring it down.

From what I saw it could have been turned around easily and landed properly, why wasn't it?

Hind sight is 20/20. When your on the sticks, you have to make split second decisions. One always has to consider first and foremost the safety of everyone else. An attempt to turn the plane could have resulted in dropping it on someone, or losing sight of the plane. He ditched it in the safest way he could have.

well the model is large and has some weight to it, its better to have a damaged plane than hitting somebody or something with it

nice looking model but sounded like as sack of shit i was glad i got to hear the 4 stroke landing, was it radio brown outs he was getting?

    • @EssentialRC

No. Engine just died as the plane passed him and for some reason he decided to put it down between the trees rather than turn to land along the strip. Hindsight is a great thing. There are only seconds to decide on best course of action in that situation.

Yea i think he made the correct choice there,i'll bet it near killed him seeing it driving into the tree but at least the crowd didn't get hurt.
