Thank you for covering this, and shame about the bothersome setup and lack of courses. I expected a handful of 18-hole courses at minimum. Bummer this didn’t live up the potential, when a few changes seemingly could’ve made a significant difference. I really appreciate the work you do
Thanks for the review man, I was on the assumption the tiles WERE textured to make it more like a tabletop golf so you really saved me a heap of cash and trouble
Spot on...needs homebrew modding with physical hazards and flick using the cardboard club with none dominant hand made it more challenging for penalties for us...mod and house rule it (but it's being arsed to do so 😆) and then I think it's a keeper...but Pitchcar rules hands down 🏎️🏁⚡🤘
I think the game is fun and enjoyable but it could be great if they labeled the tiles, included 18-course designs, and added enough tiles to set up at least three courses at once. I never even thought about adding felt or dips on the tiles for effects, that's a brilliant idea. Do all of those things and this would be an outstanding dexterity game.
Hi Tim, we didn't do that because of the additional cost (to print on the sides of the tiles), and also because we didn't want numbers all over the course, taking away from the aesthetics. The rulebook does have all the tiles pictured, front and back which does help as a guide to find the right tiles. (not mentioned in this review).
i totally get ur dexterity rattles lol im a solo gamer so i ended up adapting the fargo pool variant to work with a carooka table so im all over this lol Stay Hexy!
If you like flicking stuff, you should check out Ascending Empires from Wizkids coming out. A bit high on the price end, but it's a 4x game with flicking
It takes ages and it’s not fun…at all. Game is ok though. Just some wooden hexes and a marble. could make it yourself tbh Oh and why isn’t the family version compatible with the original. That’s insane.
@@BoardGameBollocks That's not very professional of you, my son and I spent 3 years working on this and have sold over 2,000 copies, least you can do is be professional. In any case, we made the new version to be or affordable, so it is heavy-duty cardboard instead of wood and slightly thinner (3mm instead of 5mm) If it were compatible in that sense, it would bring the cost right back up. We are a very small company, in fact, its just me and my son, so we don't have the buying power of a big company to buy in large quantities.
I’m not a professional mate. I’m someone who buys games with his own money and tells the truth about them. In this case I just wasted £55 on a game that should’ve been amazing but instead ended up being a pile of crap because of some poor design decisions.
We have a full 18 course online you can easily refer to. Adding them all to the book would significantly increase the costs. Plus, once you get the hang of how easy this is, you're going to want to design your own holes anyway.
I backed this on Kickstarter and then sold it after trying to play it twice. Too much tedious set up for every hole, and the game itself was not fun at all. Almost more of a toy than an actual game.
Sorry to hear that Jordan. I would agree it's light hearted, meant to be fun, but it does have its strategy with the different hazards and win. Sorry it didn't work for you.
Thanks for the review, but a shame you are one of the very few who does not appreciate the replayability of the modular tiles. Many people quickly figure out that setting up the holes is half the fun and super easy. We do have a full 18 hole course on our website, because adding them all to the rulebook, and adding all those pages, would make it much more expensive to produce. You can also set up a 3 hole course, just using the 25 tiles in the game (video on our UA-cam channel) or purchase additional tiles and expand your course design options. The alternative of a static course would make the game obsolete in a day. As for texture on tiles, not only would that make the game much more expensive, any texture would immediately make the ball stop. The beauty of this game is that the mechanics change based on the hazard, making it more difficult and also limiting the distance you can hit the shot. We also recommend playing on a non-slip or rubber mat, which hold the tiles in place and elevates the game experience. Clearly not every game is for everyone, but for those watching this review and reading the comments, I hope you can gather more info, or check out the new, more affordable Family Edition and decide for yourself.
Not being funny mate but searching through a heap of un-numbered double sided titles is the antithesis of fun. You’re wrong about the texture. I added light grit sandpaper to a piece of cardboard to test this and the ball stopped at a different rate depending on the size of the grit 🤷♂️
@@BoardGameBollocks But it always stopped, and this is not a miniature golf game. Even though it glides on the board, it is to be played as if it is flying through the air, and so only the tile that matters is the tile that you stop on. We did not want a miniature golf game with walls and obstacles to bounce of or avoid, those exist. This game is about the nuances of real golf. Not that you need to like golf to enjoy the game, but those who do truly appreciate the mechanics. I'll finish with this, those who enjoy golf, or the creativity to design your own hole love this aspect of the game, but it's clearly not for everyone.
Looks like your scripts are really leaning in to your blue image? I had not heard of this one. Your judgement of dexterity games is pretty good so I will pass.
Nothing like flicking a bean, right? Love the innuendo... makes your reviews awesome.
What innuendo? Filthy mind mate…
Arnold Palmers pro shot golf is a good golf dex game and the cross winds at the pitch and putt at beachy head are a mare! enjoyed the review

Too many games now are a pain to set up
you know more about dexterity games than most, so I trust your take on these types of games
We bought the grip mats play mat for this which helped keep the tiles in place. Found it on Etsy.
With the new KS campaign this video just save me a lot of money, thanks!
👍🏻

Great review. :)
The set up and tear down would drive me insane. I’ll stick to some other sports dexterity games like Pitch Car or Set & Match. :)
Another great video.
You have me in tears at 3:14 Bahahaha these other bloks missed it.

Someone recommended this and it turned out to be a dogs dinner…can I trust you? 😂
@@BoardGameBollocks I never said I played it :)
Is it a faithful reprint of the 2011 game?
@@BoardGameBollocks That I don't know. According to the marketing blurb, better plastic components, neoprene mat surfaces, and modular play.
i could listen to this guy talk all day long!
You can! I’ve done hundreds of videos! 😂
I hate it when games are good but take too long to set up
This really doesn't take long at all, but you need at least a little patience. As many have said, setting up the holes is often half the fun.

I just snagged Olymplakks. Excited to try it. They have a golf version that looked interesting, but seemed unnecessary since I was getting Olymplakks.
Why do I get pelted with Table Golf Association content after I watched your video?
UA-cam owned by google…google has ads tailored to what you watch. Of coincidence?
only three courses is so they can possibly cash grab expansions
Lootboxes will also drop onto the course.

@@tablegolfassociation at that point I would rather just play mini golf for real
I have no desire to design my own courses. They should have been in the rule book like Mars Tabletop Open. Massive oversight.

All this game is good for is for strip golf; a player who gets a hole in one gets to take an item of clothing off another player.
I only wear Y fronts at home anyway

I don’t know if you made all the cuts to get rid of any “umm” or “uhhh” but it makes for a really unnatural audio/visual experience.
