Green Roads Series - Importance of Transport Network Redundancy

This session, held last 26 September 2024, explored a new methodology for evaluating road criticality by quantifying redundancy’s impact on reducing transport disruptions from climate-related hazards. This approach, applied to New Zealand’s South Island, underscores the importance of secondary and tertiary roads in minimizing transportation costs and enhancing network resilience.
