Tube settlers work by:
Increasing surface area: Tube settlers use multiple inclined channels to increase the surface area for solids to settle on.
Creating counterflow: The channels are usually inclined at a 60° angle, which creates a countercurrent flow of water and sludge.
Collecting solids: Solids settle on the tube surface and slide down to a collection hopper.
Tube settlers have several advantages, including:
Compact design: Tube settlers take up less space than conventional clarifiers.
Low maintenance: Tube settlers are durable and require low maintenance costs.
Easy to install: Tube settlers are easy to install and don't have any moving parts.
Tube settlers are made from PVC or polypropylene tubes and are housed in a mild steel or concrete tank. The tubes are lubricated to create a smooth surface and reduce the risk of clogging.
