A molinete is a circular movement. The steps of the following should be placed on the circle to keep the distance to the leader. For a danced square inside the circle the distance of the line of the step decreases significantly. The follower is approaching too closely. It is different when the follower dances an octagon. She does that anyway, e.g. when she dances faster or doubles the tempo on the back-side. The side step is not a side step at all, but an open step that has no 90° within the molinete. The steps naturally go in circles and don't have lines which cross too close to the leader from e.g. right to left. Therefore in my opinion, no chair for learning. totally agree! a chair is for training only. Actual movement is more or less in a triangle.
It is not a PIVOT. What is needed is a disassociation
