I took a lesson from Joe here in Paris some years ago. He was here with Grant Gordy and Bobby Britt. All wonderful and inspired musicians. As for the mandolin, Joe is one of the most articulate and effective teachers of the instrument I've encountered. And like all great musicians he's generous. Good to hear him talk shop.
Good company, David, thanks for having him on your channel. A total pleasure! Onward arpeggios!

Great stuff! I wasted too much time trying to transcribe things perfectly at first, but then I started going through a piece and transcribing the easiest stuff first and I stopped spending 5 minutes on one phrase or scale, when if you get the stuff that is obvious and clear the stuff that had you stuck will often open up and you’ll be like, “WTF I could’ve had a V-8!
    Great stuff on the arpeggios!

This was such a great chat with so many pearls of wisdom. I'm not even a mando player, ha ha! But I love Joe's music and David's music. Thanks both.

Who did Joe say his teacher was? Couldn’t understand the name & didn’t recognize the photo.
