Exploring Tasmania’s Highlands: Lake Echo, Shannon & Barren Road on Royal Enfield Himalayan 411

- This week, I set out on my Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle for a ride through Tasmania’s stunning Central Highlands. The main goal was to explore a road suggested by my son, but there were plenty of other highlights along the way.
First up was a detour to the expansive Lake Echo, where the water stretched out against a rugged backdrop. From there, I rode to the locked gate of a windfarm … no access, but it added a bit of intrigue to the journey.
Further down the track, I came across the site where the collapsed Ouse River Bridge on Bashan Road had been removed. Word has it that a new bridge is under consideration.
Next was a visit to the town of Shannon, a peaceful little spot but I couldn’t find a thru-road.
Finally, I explored the breathtaking road recommended by my son, where the unique landscape capped off another memorable ride in Tasmania.

Thanks, Bert!
It really was a top day out (if not a bit long). I reckon I'll run out of time before I run out of fantastic roads to explore.😆
Did you stop for a coffee at waddamana it's a great little place
Oh, yeah, I remember those gates now! Sorry for the stich up!🤣
If you hung a right at the 9.47m mark it takes you to an old hydro site... but probably some gates there too!
I'll have to check out that hydro site next time I'm up that way. Thanks for the dodgy tip! 😂
