Dirt 4 has more crisp image but Dirt rally looks more realistic overall.
Yea... foliage in 4 has been simplified a lot, and colour palette over-saturated to make the game "appear" to be better than Rally graphically.
No doubt the foliage poly drop was to increase fps.
That puke green on Dirt 4's foliage is too much

Both games look great but dirt 4 is much more colorful and look at the trees they look way more real in dirt 4

Seems like Dirt 4 has improved slightly with objects in the distance and the overall picture seems slightly sharpened. Dirt 4 has a much higher saturation. Overall, seems like an elaborate DLC or refresh. Still looks good though.

Sounds are much better on all cars too. They really have to make Dirt 5 same standard andnquality as Rally 2.0 just with more arcadish handling and have it more grippy that's it..... Imagine if they made open world street racong game like Most Wanted 2005 with level of quality from Rally 2.0.... it would be glorious

To my eye it looks like Rally has better overall graphics, but 4 is much better with effects like rain, dirt, and the travel of the suspension. Overall, I think Rally may be technically better, but unless you're a huge snob and count individual pixels frame by frame, 4 is the better looking game.
Dirt 4's Foilage and trees look like this because they had to buff the fps to 60@1080p on consoles, otherwise it would look just as good as Dirt Rally if not better.
Around 4:30 when in slowmo you can really see the difference in framerate between the two. I can't help but feel if the GPU was a bit more powerful it would be a better comparison.
hate how in dirt 4 they have taken away how the headlights cast shadows yet on dirt rally they do its like that have taken a step back very disappointing
For me Rally looks better, but gameplay in 4 is amazing :)
DiRT 4 has arcade handling though, no matter the mode.
ArdaBlock no it doesn't if you put in simulation mode it's really difficult it's more realistic idk if dirt rally even has smiliatiom mode like that

Dirt rally was purely designed to be more on the simulation side of things, even if they didn't get it 100%, Dirt Rally was (in my opinion) a far better 'sim' than Dirt 4.
Dirt 4 feels so lifeless, the FFB doesn't really seem to give you any feeling of what the car is doing. And there is no flow while driving, it feels like you could only enjoy it using a pad and playing in arcade mode
I thought night races in Dirt4 will have dynamic shadows of trees like in first teaser trailer :(
DiRT Rally had it.
OWNWRITE#9 finally someone else who has noticed it was such a great touch and you don't see it in many games I honestly think dirt 4 had a graphics downgrade before release because it had shadows on preview videos
I got really disappointed with DiRT 4 and got a refund on Steam. Although it's not a BAD game, it's much inferior to DiRT Rally in too many ways. Shame, I loved EVERY DiRT game until now.
Raphael Coelho Couldn't agree with you more! I thought I'd take a few days to see if the game could grow on me a little, but unfortunately it just seemed to get worse... If only they had just re-worked Dirt Rally and added in all of the new content

I have both and dirt 4 is very unoptimized for graphics not really better
Both are great games. I'm still more into Dirt Rally. What lacks in Dirt 4 is immersion of speed. And in Dirt Rally I like more natural colors. To me Dirt 4 has over saturated colors.
Yes dirt 4 and afterwars (dr2.0 and ea sports wrc) bring new amazing shadow, lightning, puddle effect, etc,, but,, so sad the car physic change into floating😢 compare it w dirt rally 1 (so call sim racing) even with cmr dirt 2 , the car movement was better in cmr 2
looks like the driver in dirt 4 is having more trouble controlling the car, more oversteer which is a good thing, compared to what most people are saying. Only thing better about dirt rally is vr mode.
Looks like Dirt Rally foliage has higher poly count. Dirt 4 has just more saturated colors.
When i play Dirt Rally i feel like i'm actually in the car. Not so much as in Dirt 4. I do prefer Dirt 4 over Dirt Rally but that's only because Dirt 4 has slightly more content to offer. Physics wise, Rally takes the win.

MrCactus Dirt 4 has an arcade or sim option so it caters to both types of players where as Dirt Rally is simulation only.

dirt rally has better night lightning.. better trees.. dirt 4 had better rain drop effect, snowy environment, but too much colourful..
youtube compression is horrible for any racing game, even worse when it is raining/snowing, you cant see anything but white giant square blocks. pause the video and you will see how crappy it looks compared to the real game
